What is worth choosing Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks?
Choosing a veterinary hospital is a critical decision, and the Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks presents a complex picture of a professional practice with deeply varied customer experiences. The provided reviews highlight both the best and worst-case scenarios of pet care. On one hand, there is a positive review from a pet owner who felt "very happy with the staff" and that they "felt welcomed." This client's dog, Buster, was treated with affection, and Dr. Milburn took the time to "answer all my questions," leaving the owner happy to have found a "new vet." This experience speaks to a compassionate and attentive side of the practice, where the staff treats pets with love and provides thorough communication. The positive feedback suggests that when the experience is good, it is truly excellent, characterized by a caring team that makes both pet and owner feel comfortable and valued.
However, it is crucial to also consider the very serious negative feedback provided by another customer. This review describes a tragic outcome for a rescued puppy, Bubbles, who allegedly died from head trauma after the owner's concerns were reportedly ignored and the visit felt "very rushed." The review cites rude front staff and a failure to perform requested diagnostic tests. While this is a single account and does not represent every experience, it highlights potential issues with communication and case management that a prospective client should be aware of. This transparency is key to providing a factual and balanced overview.
Therefore, when deciding whether to choose this hospital, a pet owner in California should weigh the comprehensive list of services and convenient features against the critical feedback on staff communication and a potential lack of attentiveness in a specific case. On the positive side, the hospital's extensive offerings, including advanced diagnostics, an in-house pharmacy, and a wide array of surgical procedures, make it a powerful resource for many health needs. The accessibility features are also a significant benefit. Ultimately, the decision depends on an individual's priority. The presence of a caring doctor like Dr. Milburn and the happy experience of many clients demonstrate a potential for high-quality care, but the serious nature of the negative review underscores the importance of clear and persistent communication from a pet owner during their visit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A week ago we rescued a puppy that had been dumped in the middle of the road and named him Bubbles. We brought him to this vet and expressed concerns of head trauma due to a divot in his head, weird breathing sounds, and not acting like a normal puppy. The visit began to go wrong when Bubbles was struggling on the leash because he was scared and the rude front staff just watched as I tried to stop the poor puppy from choking himself, didn’t even offer to help. Then when we met with the vet we asked her to look in his nose and do a head x ray because we were worried about structural damage. We were the last visit of the day so everything was very rushed. No one looked in his nose, no x ray was done, and we were pushed out the door with some antibiotics. Now a week later this poor puppy has died a horrible death due to their neglect. Due to the HEAD TRUAMA (confirmed by emergency vet) that we asked them to look into Bubbles suffered a horrible seizure and died. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. Do not take your pet to this vet unless you want rude staff, your concerns to be ignored; even to the extent where it may cost your pet their life. A picture of Bubbles and his sister who misses him dearly.
March 09 · Hannah ForsterBrought my new rescue pup to see Dr. Milburn after my neighbor told me how great her dog was treated. Have to say I was very happy with the staff and felt welcomed.Everyone seemed to love my boy Buster and he could not stop wagging his tail. They offered him treats and snacks which he gobbled up. Dr. Milburn was a great doc and took time to answer all my questions. Happy to have found our new vet!
