★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’m very disappointed with how my senior dog and I were treated during this recent visit. She’s 16, with severe anxiety and arthritis, and I was told I couldn’t stay with her;something I’ve always been allowed to do in previous visits. After 30 minutes, I was finally told I could stay. a staff member even admitted, “Oh yeah, she has anxiety, she shouldn’t stay alone.” So why deny me the chance to comfort her? This clinic has made serious mistakes in the past. Which has lead up to us having to staying with her. One year, they prescribed medication that a pharmacist later told us, it could have killed my dog if she had taken it. Another time, they moved her to their boarding area without my consent, falsely claiming I didn’t show up to pick her up. Mind you I had called and they stated she wasn’t ready, called again before they close and they said “your dog isn’t here she’s been ready to get picked up”The vet initially refused an in-room exam, claiming my dog “bites,” despite her never having bitten anyone. After noticing how upset I was becoming they finally agreed to do the exam with me in the room. They muzzled her, but when she began panting, they removed it and said, “Oh, so she can breathe again.” This was careless and upsetting. All they did was check her heart rate, gave me some paperwork about arthritis medications, and mentioned a $400 shot. No thorough exam or meaningful discussion just a charge. To make matters worse, the front desk was the one who told me I couldn’t stay, that “in room visits aren’t allowed in the morning, they’re allowed at noon”, please show me where that is written because I couldn’t find it online. Later on after I was checking out she offered a white family to stay with their dog during their visit shortly after. I’m Latina, and this felt like discrimination, especially during times like this. For a while, things seemed to improve, but then they messed up again showing a pattern of inconsistency and carelessness. We will not be returning. We hoped there had finally been a change, but once again, Banfield proved us wrong.
July 19 · ElenaBeen a loyal member for 20 plus years, though the doctors change the service has not. Had one issue with a visiting doctor in which one of my pets died but I'm still here. Thank you for keeping my babies healthy.
March 13 · gina del CastilloTook my cat here for a comprehensive inspection which I pay monthly for. I left a note about an incident he had I was curious considering he's a kitten and they never returned my call I left multiple voicemails. They had me drop off my cat he sat 4 hours in a kennel no inspection no trim nothing. Then they told me to reschedule I booked my appointment on the app where it said it for the inspection. There's no way im ever taking ant animal here they dont care won't return or call and have horrible serviceDo yourself a favor go to another banfield because this is the worst experience I've ever had for people who claimed to care
June 27 · Jakobe ByersIf I could give this 0 stars I would!!! I knew there was something wrong with my dog so I brought him in. They sent my sick dog home 15 minutes after I dropped him off and swore “there was nothing wrong” he died 4 days later. My baby deserved better than what they did to him. RUN AWAY !!!DO NOT GO TO BANFIELD!!! This is the worst vet in Chicago!
April 21 · Rachel VerdonI was a Practice Manager for BANFIELD Pet Hospital for 5 years, I left veterinary medicine for the exact compassion fatigue I will describe below.I made an online appt to let the Lincoln Park location know my pet had passed away, and that I would like to come in for cremation - no one called me for a follow up.When I called to let them know I was on my way and I wanted to let them know because I know sometimes records take a minute to transfer the CSR on the phone told me, “you better be here by 530 we close at 6.” I was met with no compassion, no “I’m sorry for your loss.” It felt as though my call to prepare them was an inconvenience. The tech that took my sweet kitty back was very kind and professional. But I was once again met with the CSR at the front desk that made the entire experience transactional. This field has the number one suicide rate for a reason. I implore you to give your staff the compassion fatigue training and how to express empathy for not only themselves, but the pets and people you service.*also as an FYI - the “review our business” QR code they give you at the front desk directs you to the Brickyard Banfield’s Google review page which doesn’t seem very fair to the 2nd busiest location in the market.
