Banfield Pet Hospital in Cranberry Township, PA, presents a mixed but notable set of features and highlights, as reflected in customer feedback from local pet owners in Washington.
- Exceptional Staff Members (e.g., Receptionist Diane): A significant highlight is the positive experience with individual staff members. One review specifically praises "Receptionist Diane" as "exceptional!" and notes that staff "handle our precious pups with great care." This points to a team that can offer genuinely caring and helpful service. The consistency of "consistently great at Banfield Cranberry" from some customers is a strong positive.
- Beneficial Optimum Wellness Program: The wellness program is frequently cited as a major advantage. Customers appreciate its value, with one stating, "The wellness program is really great and nice to walk away with early paying anything for over $500 of work or more." This structured approach to preventive care can make veterinary expenses more manageable and predictable for many families.
- Ease of Appointment Scheduling: The hospital is noted for being "easy to make appointments with," which is a crucial convenience for busy pet owners. This accessibility to scheduling can reduce stress when immediate attention is needed for a pet.
- Caring and Excellent Service: When the staff performs well, the service is described as "helpful, caring, and excellent," contributing to a positive overall impression and a sense that it's "totally the best around."
- Concerns Regarding Financial Transparency and Care Approach: On the other hand, a critical highlight points to serious concerns about financial transparency and the depth of medical assessment. One customer had a very negative experience, stating, "all they cared about was money. Has the amount they stated then they wanted more." This suggests potential issues with upfront cost communication.
- Perceived Lack of Thorough Diagnostics: The same critical review also raises concerns about diagnostic thoroughness, with the customer lamenting, "Never checked him for blockage just assumed it was something else." This indicates a perception that initial assessments may not always be exhaustive, potentially leading to critical missed diagnoses.
- Post-Surgical Pet Monitoring Concerns: The deeply distressing account of a puppy "laying on the cold room by himself" after being left for a procedure highlights serious concerns about post-operative care and monitoring, contrasting sharply with the expectation of pets being "handled with great care."
- Outcome Discrepancy and Trust Erosion: The ultimate tragic outcome for the puppy after being told "we caught it early he had a good chance" severely eroded trust for one client, leading to a strong recommendation "Don't go there." This signifies a critical breakdown in communication, trust, and perceived quality of care.

On one hand, it offers a highly convenient and accessible option for routine pet health needs, particularly appealing to those who benefit from structured preventive care through their Optimum Wellness Plans. For many, these plans provide an affordable and predictable way to manage regular veterinary expenses, including vaccinations and unlimited office visits. May 17, 2025 · Laurie Wintersso so bad, only signed up cause when i did they told me the spay was included and my mom had to pick my cat up and they did not tell her i still had to pay extra even though i was told it was included so instead of letting her know while she’s there picking up my cat they just sent the bill to collections. then i got another thing from the collection in the mail today for one of the monthly bills even though the money was also taken out of my account. and whenever i try to log into my account to make an appointment or use any of the additional services it tells me i don’t have an account with them. i’m not sure if this is because i made the account in person but when i asked they were unable to provide an explanation or any help. pretty garbage company but i guess that is on me for not researching better or i would have seen when they got sued a few years ago for this type of stuff. guess ill just have to wait for the next class action lawsuitedit: i called and apparently the bill is from the spay collections that i paid over the phone at the vet in front of the vet from the collection number given to me by the vet. and i would recommend seven fields vet, i’m still paying for banfield but i take my cats there instead anyways
Jun 18, 2025 · Belle CranstonI’ve been using Banfield services for 11 years. I’ve always gone to Tarentum. Most recently, my 17 year old needed care. Tarentum had no openings. I contacted Cranberry. Diane answered. She triaged me so that she could relay what my concerns were. Dr Skiba called me back. She saw my Benny the next day. His condition had worsened. Dr Skiba and I spoke about Benny’s care. She was very compassionate. A couple of days later I ultimately had to lay my Benny to rest. This was an agonizing decision. Dr Skiba and her staff treated us with kindness and gentleness. They prepared a very comfortable warm environment for Benny and me. When the time came Dr Skiba and her tech (I apologize I don’t remember her name) sat right down on the floor with us. I laid Benny in the cozy little bed. I was allowed ample time and space to sit with my Benny. Dr Skiba and her staff made my extremely difficult situation as comfortable as possible. Thank you so very much for your comforting words and gentle compassion. 4/29/24
