Colonial Animal Hospital is dedicated to providing a broad spectrum of veterinary services to ensure the health and well-being of your beloved pets. While specific details on every service might require direct inquiry, based on the nature of a comprehensive animal hospital, you can expect a range of offerings typically including:
Wellness and Preventive Care: This is fundamental to long-term pet health. Services would encompass routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations, and effective parasite prevention and control programs (including heartworm, flea, and tick prevention). Nutritional counseling and weight management guidance are also key components to promote overall well-being.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses and conditions, the hospital would utilize various diagnostic tools. This typically includes in-house laboratory services for quick analysis of blood, urine, and fecal samples. Imaging services such as digital radiography (X-rays) are crucial for examining bones, organs, and identifying internal issues.
Surgical Procedures: A variety of surgical options are generally available, ranging from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries. Surgical care usually includes pre-operative assessments, safe anesthesia protocols, continuous monitoring during surgery, and attentive post-operative recovery care.
Dental Care: Oral health is vital for a pet's overall health. Comprehensive dental services would likely include professional dental cleanings (scaling and polishing), extractions of diseased teeth, and guidance on at-home dental hygiene to prevent periodontal disease.
Senior Pet Care: As pets age, they require specialized attention. Services tailored for senior pets often include more frequent wellness exams, age-specific diagnostic screenings, pain management strategies for conditions like arthritis, and tailored dietary recommendations to support their unique needs.
Puppy and Kitten Programs: For the newest members of your family, dedicated programs offer a solid start. These typically cover initial vaccinations, deworming protocols, microchipping for identification, and essential guidance for new pet owners on topics like socialization, nutrition, and training.
Emergency and Urgent Care: While not a 24/7 emergency center unless explicitly stated, a facility like Colonial Animal Hospital would likely accommodate urgent cases during their regular operating hours, providing prompt attention to acute illnesses or injuries, as evidenced by their ability to see a new client's dog with "short notice."
Behavioral Counseling: Addressing common behavioral issues can significantly improve the bond between pets and their owners. General advice and resources for managing behaviors like anxiety, aggression, or house-training problems might be offered.

Colonial Animal Hospital Reviews
The original owner Dr. Poole was absolutely fantastic. Treated my dogs for nearly a decade and service was amazing. Colonial not the same since he retired. I will be polite and say transferred my pets to another local vet with more similar common sense, small town service we had with Dr. Poole.
Apr 08, 2025 · Michael BI am so so grateful for this amazing place - who truly cares about you and your pet. They helped my dog Kylie with short notice even though we have never been there before. So sweet and welcoming right away. Dr. Schindewolf did a full exam on my sweet senior and went over every option with us - and was just so compassionate. He put a lot into perspective for us and we are just enjoying our time with our sweet girl knowing she has the care she needs right around the corner. 5+++ stars!
Feb 04, 2025 · Laura Doremus5 stars is an understatement to what they deserve. They deserve 100/5 stars because words cannot describe how amazing Colonial Animal Hospital is. They are not only AMAZING in their practice, but everyone single staff member there is so kind, friendly, helpful, and most importantly, treats your loved one like their own. And if that’s not good enough, it is so easy to get an appointment and when you need them, they are there. Even after you leave they call to check up. I hope they realize how much their love and care makes a difference. If this is not your vet, then switch over IMMEDIATELY. We love you guys sooo much and thank you for everything!! -Mommy and Toby ❤️
Jan 17, 2025 · Melissa TraceWent there today for the very first time. It was perfect. The staff loved my dog and doctor Vokral was wonderful. I definitely recommend Colonial Animal Hospital. The location was great and the small town charm was so evident! 🐶🐶🐶
Jun 03, 2025 · Jeff CassellMy dog Lucy was not a patient here. My 4lb Yorkie took a sudden turn over the weekend and our normal vet was closed. I called every vet in the area to see if they would take her. I wanted to avoid the hospital since Lucy was 15 and I didn’t want to be forced to keep her over night, etc. This veterinary practice told us to come in, though they were about to close. The vet was SO caring. I had a very hard time and she did not rush me, though her day already ended. She treated myself and Lucy as if she has known us for years. To the Vet that was there that night, thank you. I am blessed that Lucy was placed in your care in her last moments of life.
