Crepe Myrtle Animal Hospital presents a complex picture based on available customer reviews, highlighting both positive aspects and significant concerns that local pet owners in North Carolina should carefully consider.
Features / Highlights:
- Prompt Communication for Emergency Inquiries (Initial): One positive highlight is the swift response time during an initial emergency inquiry. Samantha, the receptionist, promptly called back after speaking with the doctor and provided advice for a sick pet, scheduling an early morning appointment. This demonstrates quick action in a stressful situation.
- Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff (for some experiences): In some cases, the "Dr and staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable," providing detailed explanations and upfront pricing, leading to a very positive initial experience and quick recovery for the pet.
- Transparency in Pricing (for some experiences): At least one positive review noted that "prices were given up front," which is a valued feature for pet owners.
- Accessibility Features: The hospital's website indicates it offers wheelchair-accessible entrance, toilet, and car park, enhancing convenience for all clients.
- Appointment System: Appointments are required or recommended, suggesting an organized approach to managing patient flow.
- Concerns Regarding Unapproved Services and Charges: A significant negative highlight revolves around a customer being charged for a heartworm test that was explicitly stated as not due during appointment scheduling. This points to a potential communication breakdown or unauthorized service provision, leading to unexpected costs.
- Highly Unprofessional and Rude Communication (from Veterinarian): The most severe concern arises from the veterinarian's alleged response to the billing dispute. The veterinarian was accused of being "rude," having an "attitude," accusing the client of "TRYING TO GET SOMETHING FOR FREE!," and making an "abusive" comment towards the client's wife. This reflects a profound lack of professional demeanor and client relations, leading to a complete loss of trust and a decision to no longer use their services.
- Lack of Compassion in Client Interaction: Beyond the specific dispute, the tone reported suggests a lack of general compassion and empathy in handling client concerns, contrasting sharply with the positive experiences reported by others.
- Impact on Client Retention: The strong negative experience directly led to a client with a history of spending "a lot of money at his clinic over the years" deciding to take their business elsewhere, indicating a critical failure in client retention due to perceived disrespect and unethical billing.
- "Full-Service" Capabilities: Their website highlights being a full-service facility with "50+ years of combined experience" among veterinarians (including Dr. Schillig and Dr. Vieira, though not mentioned in these specific reviews), suggesting comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental capabilities.

Mobile Phone: +1 919-639-8387
Having this direct contact information readily available is crucial for scheduling appointments or inquiring about services. They also have accessibility features like wheelchair ramps, which benefit many clients.
However, it is crucial for local residents to be aware of the highly polarized feedback from past customers. While some experiences highlight a friendly, knowledgeable staff and prompt initial responses, a very significant concern revolves around allegations of unauthorized billing and, more distressingly, extremely rude and unprofessional communication from a veterinarian when addressing a client's legitimate billing query. Such reported behavior, including accusatory remarks, can severely erode trust and demonstrates a concerning lack of client-side compassion, which is paramount in the sensitive field of pet care.
Choosing a veterinary clinic involves entrusting your beloved pet's health to their team. While Crepe Myrtle Animal Hospital provides necessary medical services and is conveniently located, the mixed reviews, particularly concerning client interactions and billing transparency, suggest that prospective North Carolina pet owners should proceed with caution. It is highly recommended to clarify all aspects of proposed treatments and costs in advance, and to consider whether the reported communication style aligns with the level of professional and empathetic service you expect for your cherished animal companion.

Crepe Myrtle Animal Hospital Reviews
I brought my dog in today 6/6/25 at 8am for an appointment to get his nails trimmed and dremeled along with a bath that my wife called and made. When I got there and dropped him off the receptionist gave a form with what was to be done highlighted for me to sign and initial. The Vet called me and said he would be ready to be picked up at 10:30. I went and picked him up and cane home. My wife called from work and asked me how it went. I said it cost $141 because they said he needed a heart worm test. Come to find out when my wife made the appointment she specifically told the Vet clinic he wasn’t due for his heart worm test for 6 months. That was over $60 for the test. So she called and spoke with the receptionist about speaking with the Dr. He called her back promptly and asked what she wanted to do about the situation. She said, either refund the money for the test or don’t charge us for the test in 6 months. He came off rude and said that my wife was abusive to his employee. And that she should have told me that our dog didn’t need the heart worm test. Which she replied, I didn’t think I had to since I specifically said our dog didn’t need the test when the appointment was made. And his reply was, I THINK YOU’RE TRYING TO GET SOMETHING FOR FREE! And said, he would send our dogs records to our new Veterinarian. It blows my mind with this Veterinarians attitude. We have spent a lot of money at his clinic over the years caring for our dog. And whether he refunded our money or not we will definitely not be bringing our dog back. You get a 1 star rating for your business and a 5 star rating for being a complete JERK!
Jun 06, 2025 · John ProloZeus was not feeling well for about 3 days and we had recently moved to Angier so we had no idea what vet to use. I called here and immediately knew this was where we needed to take him. Samantha took all the information and said she would call me right back after speaking with the Dr. (This is 5pm ) She called me back within 10 mins and told me what to give him and said they would see him at 730am the next morning . We could not be happier. The Dr and staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable. He explained everything in detail and we were given prices up front. There is nowhere else I would take Zeus.💓 P. S Zeus was much better the next day 😁
Sep 28, 2024 · Tammy HoneycuttThey were quick to answer our call regarding my daughter's dog issue and got us in the same day. He was treated in a timely manner and sent home with care instructions. We even received a check up call a few days afterwards. Great staff!
Mar 04, 2025 · LaToya W.I could not ask for a better vet when it came to confronting my poor Polly’s tummy troubles. Even though I had to make the difficult decision to send her across the Rainbow Bridge, Dr. Schilling made sure I was thoroughly informed of my options, and we discussed everything together to ensure I made the right choice. Truly the best care team I could ever ask for. I hope one day, in the near future, I return with a smile on my face and a new kitty friend in tow.
Mar 12, 2025 · Marissa CameronOur cat Nokey was not feeling well and we were seen the same day. Unfortunately we had to put him to sleep. Dr. Schilling and Alyssa were very compassionate and caring. Thanks for all you do.
