When considering a veterinary practice, it's essential to look at the complete picture, including both the positive and negative feedback from real customers. Dandy Acres Animal Hospital has a strong reputation for providing attentive, honest, and loving care. One long-term client, who has been with the hospital for five years, praises the "entire staff" for being "attentive, honest and loving" toward their dog. This kind of loyalty and positive feedback is a strong indicator of a caring and reliable practice. The fact that the client would give them a "6" out of five stars highlights an exceptional level of satisfaction.
However, it is also important to address concerns raised in other reviews. One customer had a negative experience related to pricing and perceived value. The reviewer compared the cost for their cat's care at Dandy Acres to another local vet and felt the pricing was significantly higher. They also questioned the necessity of certain procedures. While the hospital's website states their team-based approach can provide multiple vets for the "price of one," some customers may not feel this translates to an affordable total bill. The perception of high costs and the experience of a pet allegedly being unable to receive a blood draw may be concerning for some.
Ultimately, the choice to go with Dandy Acres Animal Hospital depends on your priorities. If you are looking for a hospital with a broad range of services, including advanced technology like ultrasound and specialized treatments like laser therapy, and an integrated lodge for boarding, Dandy Acres offers a very comprehensive package. The consistently positive feedback about the staff's kindness and attentiveness suggests a high standard of professional and personal care. While it's advisable to discuss pricing and care plans upfront, the hospital's long-standing reputation and a loyal client base are compelling reasons why it is a trusted choice for pet owners in South Lyon, Michigan.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Honestly don’t know much about them, but I can tell you this. I took my cat in to get him checked tell me why it’s 1500$ for just for him and then one time they wanted to take blood supposedly they gave him back because he didn’t want to get injected. Tell me why we go to Lyon veterinary, and because I got another cat tell me why they only costed 500$ for both and they got fully checked out with blood tests. And they told me that they didn’t have problems with my cats. So it’s gets you thinking. Do they even do they’re jobs right and are they scamming us for more money 🤷🏻
August 26 · JuanCena 2k2017We are so pleased that we found Dandy Acres Hospital and Dog Lodge 5 years ago when we adopted our puppy. The entire staff has been attentive, honest and loving toward our dog at every visit. Add a star here and I would give them a “6”!

July 28 · Ashlynn EnersenExpect the unexpected with Dandy Acres, even when you think you’re perfectly aligned there are surprises around every corner. Typically when there are issues with the business practices this can be overlooked by providing solid pet care. In this case neither their business practices nor the care seem to be performed in good faith. The younger girl at the front desk (brown hair / glasses) is nice and empathetic, and the vet (the one time I was seen in person) took her time with the exam and seemed to care, but the treatment approach once I left the building was concerning.Visit one: SURPRISE! The vet is out of state calling in on a SCREEN! Imagine my surprise, when attempting to establish care for my senior dog after moving from out of state, to be met by a vet on a TV screen with zero notice that this was even a thing. I would have never consented to that had I been made aware, but I didn’t have the opportunity since they didn’t disclose this as their practice. The tech performing the exam surprisingly stated to the vet that my dog was indicating pain in his front legs, yet my dog is simply afraid to walk on hardwood floors.Visit two: request for in person care because dog required a dental cleaning and x-rays for hip pain. After spending a lot of time discussing my dog, I left him in their care and they called shortly after for permission to obtain additional X-ray images (7 total). The exam had been performed by the vet in person this time so while I was surprised she suspected pain in so many areas of his body, I wanted to ensure my dog was comfortable as he approaches the end of his life, so I approved the extra images. Note: the only areas that showed arthritis (per the AI tool) were those that I brought him in to have examined. Perhaps most alarming was the request to cut into my 12.5 year old dog’s gums in order to expose teeth that hadn’t erupted. This is excessive, invasive, and unnecessary given his age and risk for infection. Declined. I received resistance from the tech who stated that since they’d already removed gingiva it put me into elevated “oral surgery” territory and you pay by the half hour for surgery. He said that since I’d already be paying for it and they’d have plenty of time after removing the gingiva, I might as well have them erupt the teeth. I reiterated the risk of infection being my primary concern for this aggressive and unnecessary course of treatment and again declined. I was so concerned that I wasn’t being heard that I called back to confirm they would not be cutting into my dog’s gums. When I arrived to pick up my dog I was greeted with a “that will be $2800” with no document or invoice to support the request for increased payment amount, and no indication of how my dog had been recovering. I was pushed by a vet from behind the desk (who I didn’t know) that the treatment plan indicated it could be up to that amount yet she wasn’t involved with my dog’s care or on the phone when I declined the additional surgery. I sensed that they were starting to view me as a disgruntled customer for simply asking for the itemized bill (which included medications that I stated I’d be purchasing online). Dandy Acres intentionally restricts you from purchasing online without a written prescription, yet did not provide me the prescription that they require despite being clear that I’d be ordering from Chewy. Before I left and after declining to purchase meds through them, they went and got a pain medication which SURPRISE was included in their fee! Meaning they added a $95 charge for 15 pain pills when pain medication is already included in the surgery fee. I planned to purchase what they told me was a more liver friendly pain medication on Chewy regardless but the exact same medication is $63 for 60 pills (note: price gauging?).In summary, both the business practices and the care are in question at this vet. I would be happy to discuss this experience with anyone that wishes to provide South Lyon with transparent, animal-focused veterinary care, I just highly doubt that is the goal here.
June 21 · Kaitlin MonbergThe Veterinarians here are so kind and treat my dogs like they are their own. I would recommend Dandy Acres to anyone who is considering getting a pet and even having a pet and looking for a new veterinarian for their senior. They are so through and passionate, and I have never been dissatisfied.
