★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Unfortunately, we had to put my mom and dad’s 14 year old black lab to sleep. They were able to get us in quickly, and we were scheduled for just before closing. There was very little waiting and Koda was able to navigate around with no fear of other dogs/animals approaching him. He was blind and deaf, so animals quickly approaching him made him nervous. The staff was very friendly with him and gave him some love. The process was quick, but compassionate. Though it was a very tough decision, the vet made it much easier for my dad.
April 25 · Holly JohnsonWe had very positive experience with Dr. Cavender and Salem Veterinary Services. Our cat was a new patient to them and they were able to get us in to the clinic for an emergency appointment on the same day we observed a serious issue with our very senior cat of 21 years. Dr. Cavender and Kelly and other staff were very knowledgeable, skilled, competent, kind and helpful, with Kelly going above and beyond to help care for our cat. It is with great sadness that we made the decision after a week of treatment that our cat would be best served by putting her to sleep. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Cavender and her staff were thoughtful and caring. It was very touching that they sent us a very thoughtful condolences card for the loss of our kitty. I highly recommend Salem Veterinary Services for their skill, caring and very reasonably priced services.
August 11 · Nancy FryeSo late sat night we noticed one of our cats having trouble peeing so we took him to a 24 hr vet in Southfield which we we walked in and i was like this is going to be very expensive because the place looked like a very nice hospital. The people were nice and friendly they took our cat and checked him out. then about 20 mins later they wanted us to sign for a 4,800.00 deposit and only a deposit and could be as high as 6,500.00 to unblock him and he would stay for two days.Well we talked them into just draining his bladder so we could wait to take him to our vet. So I called Salem vet just to leave a mess Sunday morning and a operator answered. I left a mess with her and less than 30 mins later I got a phone call from the owner (ann) and she asked how long until we could make it in. I said 30 mins, she like ok I'll go & get set up. We got their and she was ready and checked him out and said to leave him and she will perform the procedure and will call us in a few hrs. well like 4 or 5 hrs went by and she called and said we could pick him up that he ate and peed twice and when it was time to pay the bill I almost fell over backwards. it was less then half of what we paid for just the emergency visit and included 3 bottles of pills ... I think she felt bad for us and truly loves helping the animals because she way under charged us ... i will be grateful forever she didn't have to come in on her day off and it wasn't even open. She was very friendly and caring. I see people have left some bad reviews but there's always two side of the story and maybe she was upset how the people were taking care of their pet and as far as the secretary's yup I've been barked at by them. but they are very busy and sometimes you should wear someone's shoes before you judge them. And we all have bad days . bottom line you won't find another place that cares for your animals like you do or more than what you do and you can't beat the prices... And Luigi is doing great.. THANK YOU FOR BEING SO KIND AND CARING !
March 14 · mike smithI wish I had seen the reviews before I called. I called to get some dental pricing for a cat and was really taken aback by the condescending nature of the receptionist. I was being friendly and professional and didn’t understand why I was getting such attitude just by asking questions. To the point where I called back and asked if something was wrong. She’s pretty vile! There are so many vets with kind staff, and when it comes to your pet you shouldn’t settle for less. Receptionist - bless your heart, you should find a job where you don’t interact with people!
April 29 · Kimmy OI just want the owners to know that your receptionist is so confrontational and literally could not tell me whether my wellness visit from Berkeley animal hospital was good enough to have my animals neutered and told me that she suggested I go somewhere else and look around. Thought you might want to know that you're losing business because of your receptionist. I would seriously consider getting a new one she is so non informative it's not even funny and very confrontational.Very sad I just read the reviews on here and all of your reviews that are bad are all about your receptionist it states that you're a fabulous veterinarian.
