While specific detailed information about every service offered by Diedrich Rick DVM is not extensively provided, based on the nature of a veterinary practice and general client interactions, one can infer a range of services typically available. Veterinary clinics generally offer a foundational set of services to address the common health needs of pets. These may include:
- Appointments for Consultations: The practice offers appointments, which is a standard approach to managing patient flow and ensuring dedicated time for each animal and owner. This allows for scheduled visits for general check-ups, follow-ups, or specific health concerns.
- Injury Treatment: As indicated by client feedback concerning an ear injury, the clinic does provide services for treating acute injuries. This likely includes initial assessment, wound care, and necessary medical interventions such as cauterization and bandaging.
- Sedation for Procedures: For procedures that may cause discomfort or anxiety to pets, such as wound treatments or minor surgeries, sedation services are available to ensure the pet's comfort and compliance during treatment.
- General Veterinary Care: This broadly encompasses diagnostic services (which might include basic blood tests or other lab work as needed for an injury assessment), medical treatments for various ailments, and potentially preventive care like vaccinations, though specific details on these are not given in the provided information.
- Post-Treatment Care Instructions: Following a procedure, it is standard for veterinary practices to provide instructions for at-home care, such as managing bandages or monitoring the pet's recovery.
It's important for pet owners to directly inquire about the full range of services, including routine wellness exams, dental care, surgical options, and preventive medicine, as these are typically core offerings of a DVM practice. The available information suggests a practice that can handle immediate injury care and works on an appointment basis.
When evaluating a local veterinary practice, specific features and operational highlights often shape the client experience. For Diedrich Rick DVM, certain aspects come to light based on available customer feedback. Understanding these can help local Ohio pet owners set expectations:
- Quick Work-In for Urgent Cases: A notable positive feature is the clinic's ability to "work me in right away" for an injury. This indicates a responsiveness to urgent situations, which is a critical factor for pet owners dealing with sudden health issues or injuries. The capacity to accommodate immediate needs can be a significant relief during stressful times.
- Offers Appointments: The practice operates on an appointment basis, which allows for structured visits. This is a standard and often preferred method for managing patient flow, giving owners the opportunity to schedule visits in advance for non-emergency care.
- Pricing Structure: The feedback suggests that the service can be "a bit pricey, especially if you have multiple animals." This indicates that pet owners should be prepared for costs, particularly when managing healthcare for more than one pet. Transparency regarding potential costs before services are rendered is always advisable.
- Post-Procedure Re-Bandaging Policy and Cost: A specific operational detail highlighted is the clinic's policy regarding re-bandaging. A customer's experience indicates that if a bandage falls off soon after application, the clinic charges for re-bandaging, even if the initial application was recent and costly. This policy might be a point of consideration for clients, as it directly impacts post-procedure care and unexpected expenses.
While the ability to work in urgent cases is a definite benefit, the pricing and re-bandaging policy are key operational aspects that future clients should be aware of. These details help form a complete picture of what to expect when seeking veterinary care at Diedrich Rick DVM in Lorain.

For pet owners in Lorain, Ohio, and the surrounding communities, Diedrich Rick DVM offers a local option for veterinary care, particularly notable for its ability to accommodate urgent needs. While considering any veterinary practice, local residents typically weigh factors such as responsiveness, service offerings, and cost transparency. Diedrich Rick DVM presents a mixed profile based on available public feedback, which can help locals make an informed decision for their beloved companions.
One key advantage for locals is the clinic's apparent willingness to "work in right away" during emergencies or urgent injury situations. This responsiveness can be a significant relief in stressful moments when immediate veterinary attention is critical. The availability of appointments also provides a structured way to plan for routine care and consultations, which is a standard convenience for pet owners managing busy schedules.
However, local users should also be aware of the reported pricing structure, as it can be "a bit pricey, especially if you have multiple animals." This suggests that budgeting for veterinary care here might require careful consideration, particularly for households with more than one pet. Furthermore, the feedback regarding re-bandaging costs highlights a specific policy that clients should clarify upfront, ensuring there are no unexpected charges for post-procedure care that might be perceived as a continuation of initial treatment.
In conclusion, Diedrich Rick DVM is a local veterinary option in Lorain that can provide immediate attention for injuries and operates on an appointment system. For Ohio residents prioritizing quick access for urgent care, this could be a suitable choice. However, it is advisable for prospective clients to discuss pricing, particularly for multiple pets, and understand all service-related policies, especially concerning follow-up care for procedures like bandaging, to ensure alignment with their expectations and budget. Diedrich Rick DVM Reviews
Terrible!!! I took my dog here for an injury today they worked me in right away which was good. They cauterized her ear and they bandaged it and they put a cone on her head. She was sedated so she laid on the floor all day long as soon as she got up And I got her to actually go outside just to stand there cause she still sedated. The bandage fell off her ear and she started bleeding all over the place so I called them and they said well you can bring her in tomorrow but we’re going to charge you for re-bandaging the ear I said how can you charge me when you guys just bandaged her ear at 11 o’clock and didn’t do it right after I paid over $700 when I came in this morning they said that’s just what we do that’s what it’s gonna cost if you want it done. Terrible shameful.!!
