I just didn’t have a good experience with this place in any way. My dog was in bad condition on arrival. She was older, so this didn’t help her situation and unfortunately I lost her earlier this month. During euthanasia, the staff would not allow me to be present. I insisted, but they refused to allow me to be in the room. Of all the dogs I’ve ever had in my life, never have I been told I could not be there for them. This was very insensitive, but I couldn’t argue any longer while my dog was in so much pain. Today is now 23 days later. I finally decided to go and find out why I haven’t received my dogs ashes back. They handed me a form to sign for pickup and on it says they contacted me on the 5th. They did not call. They did not text. They had two numbers on file and neither were attempted to reach me.This time was a very hard time for me as you can understand. My dog was a retired service dog. She’d been around the country with me on many wounded warrior events and allowed me to live. In the time when she needed me most, this clinic forced me to fail her. I will never be able to give back to her at the end of her life what she gave to me to live mine and that was because of the insensitive nature, lack of discipline and accountability, and sheer absence of integrity this clinic and its staff hold.I post this as a warning for those who may experience a time when their pet is in need and you have a short time to make your decisions. While there are times when mistakes can happen and an experience is subjective. However, for 23 days this clinic could have done the right thing. It took me going to their door on my own, without any notice, to bring my girl back home. A simple act as much as making a phone call for a dog who has already passed and just needed to be picked up in a box. Is this the place you want to trust your animal’s care?I do not want this place to not have business or to close down. That’s far from what I’m asking. But please don’t Stella’s last moments be repeated and hopefully this clinic can exhibit some sensitivity and professional training to become better. - Lex

Fort Smith Animal Emergency Introduce

For pet owners in the Fort Smith region of Arkansas, knowing where to turn when a pet emergency strikes after normal business hours is a crucial part of responsible animal ownership. **Fort Smith Animal Emergency** is a dedicated **Animal Hospital** specializing in providing urgent and critical medical care for **Dogs and cats** during the most vulnerable times: nights, weekends, and holidays. Unlike a standard veterinary clinic that operates during typical daytime hours, this facility exists specifically to address the sudden illnesses, injuries, and crises that require immediate attention when your regular veterinarian's office is closed.

The importance of having a reliable, local emergency resource cannot be overstated. A sudden illness, an unexpected injury, or the ingestion of a toxic substance requires swift and skilled intervention. Fort Smith Animal Emergency positions itself as that vital safety net for the Arkansas pet community, ensuring that high-quality, professional medical care is available around the clock when the clock runs out on daytime practices. Their commitment to continuous, after-hours operation fills a necessary gap in the local pet healthcare ecosystem.

As with any emergency facility, the patient experience is shaped by the inherently stressful, high-pressure situations that bring pets through the door. While clients generally appreciate the availability and professionalism of the staff during critical moments, as one client noted a front desk employee was "awesome and very curious and super helpful" even with a long wait due to a major surgery, some experiences can be challenging. A difficult review detailed the painful process of losing a beloved, older service dog, citing a profound emotional disappointment regarding the policy of not allowing the owner to be present during euthanasia and a lack of timely communication regarding the return of the dog's ashes. This highlights the subjective nature of emergency care during times of high emotional distress and the critical need for absolute sensitivity and clear, consistent communication in such a specialized and demanding field. Users should understand that emergency clinics operate on a triage system, prioritizing the most life-threatening cases first, which can lead to significant wait times for less critical issues.

**Fort Smith Animal Emergency** is located at **4301 Regions Park Dr #3, Fort Smith, AR 72916, USA**. This location is easily accessible, which is paramount in an emergency situation where every second counts.

**Location and Accessibility**

The facility is committed to ensuring that all clients can access the hospital without undue difficulty during their emergency hours.

  • The location offers a dedicated **Wheelchair accessible entrance**, providing a smooth entry point for those needing assistance.
  • A convenient **Wheelchair accessible parking lot** is available, reducing the stress of transporting an injured or ill pet from the vehicle into the hospital.
  • For the comfort and convenience of all visitors, the facility is equipped with a clean **Restroom**, including a **Wheelchair accessible restroom**.

Given their specialized role, the focus of Fort Smith Animal Emergency is squarely on urgent and critical care.
