The HSWC Spay Clinic is dedicated to addressing pet overpopulation through humane and effective sterilization. Their mission revolves around making spay and neuter procedures affordable, thereby reducing the number of unwanted litters and ultimately decreasing the strain on local animal shelters. This clinic is not a full-service veterinary hospital for general medical issues, but rather a specialized facility solely focused on sterilization surgeries, with key add-on services available at the time of surgery. This specialization allows them to operate efficiently and keep costs significantly lower than traditional veterinary practices, without compromising on the quality of care. The commitment of their professional and caring staff, as highlighted by numerous satisfied pet parents, makes the experience smooth and stress-free for both animals and their owners.
The HSWC Spay Clinic Linda R. Lorber Campus is conveniently located at 840-B John Marshall Hwy, Front Royal, VA 22630, USA. John Marshall Highway (US Route 55/340) is a significant thoroughfare in the region, providing straightforward access from various directions, including those traveling from nearby towns and rural areas. The HSWC Spay Clinic specializes in low-cost, high-quality spay and neuter surgeries. While they do not offer comprehensive veterinary services like general check-ups or treatment for illnesses, they provide essential add-on options that are crucial for pet health. Here’s a breakdown of their primary services:
- Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Surgeries: The core service, offering highly affordable sterilization for both cats and dogs. Pricing is significantly lower than many full-service clinics, making it accessible for a wider range of pet owners.
- Rabies Vaccinations: Available as an add-on service during surgery, and also offered at quarterly low or no-cost rabies vaccine clinics for the public, ensuring community-wide protection.
- Microchipping: Offered as an add-on service at the time of surgery and also available at public vaccine clinics, providing permanent identification for pets to aid in their safe return if lost.
- TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program for Community/Feral Cats: An integral part of their mission, offering specially discounted rates for spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, and ear-tipping for feral and community cats, helping to humanely manage their populations.
- Spay It Forward Fund: A special program, supported by donations, designed to further lower or eliminate the costs of spay/neuter surgery for Warren County residents who qualify.
- Same-Day Drop-off and Pick-up: Designed for efficiency and convenience, allowing pets to be dropped off in the morning for surgery and picked up later the same day.
Several key features and highlights distinguish the HSWC Spay Clinic Linda R. Lorber Campus, making it an invaluable resource for Virginia pet owners:
- Unmatched Affordability: This is arguably their most significant highlight. Customers consistently praise the "most affordable place in area" for spay and neuter services, with prices like $65 for a kitten neuter (at the time of a review) that make responsible pet ownership financially feasible. This affordability extends to vaccinations and microchipping.
- High-Quality Care: Despite the low cost, the clinic maintains a high standard of care. Reviews indicate that pets, like the 6-month-old kitten mentioned, recover well and are "doing great," underscoring the quality of the surgical procedures and post-op attention.
- Professional and Welcoming Staff: The team is frequently described as "very nice, professional staff" and "wonderful." Their friendly and supportive demeanor contributes to a positive experience, especially for those who might be anxious about their pet's surgery.
- Efficiency and Convenience: The "easy drop off and pick up same day" process, coupled with the requirement for advance payment (as noted on their website), streamlines the experience, saving pet owners time and stress.
- Community Impact: As part of the Humane Society of Warren County, the clinic plays a crucial role in local animal welfare, actively participating in and supporting initiatives like the TNR program for feral cats, which benefits the entire community by humanely controlling pet populations.
- Commitment to Rescue Animals: By making sterilization affordable, the clinic "mak it possible to rescue the fur babies," directly supporting local rescue efforts and encouraging adoption.

HSWC Spay Clinic Linda R. Lorber Campus Reviews
Thank you! Knowing well that adopting a pet means added expenses, I didn't expect that neutering a kitten could cost $300 or more. But not here. At the time of this post, it was $65. And they were wonderful! My new 6 month old kitten was neutered here and is doing great. Since it was affordable, I was able to have him chipped and a rabies shot. Easy drop off and pick up same day. You must pay in advance. All info on their website. Thank you for making it possible to rescue the fur babies! Very nice, professional staff.
Sep 14, 2024 · RobieMy experience both times have been great. Probably most affordable place in area. Highly recommend
Jun 30, 2025 · Lia TurnerThey did such a great job with our boy Chase! Highly recommended, really understanding staff, and so helpful!
Feb 12, 2025 · William HoughBare bones but great care for a very reasonable price. Spay, neuter, and I believe microchips and vaccinations. Nit a full service vet but they turn over a huge number of fixed pets and that's critically important work!
Jul 30, 2024 · A TurkTook my kitten to be spayed at the clinic today. I was super impressed with the entire experience. Staff are incredibly friendly, kind and caring. They did an exceptional job preparing for a deluge of clients. All the paperwork was lined up and ready to go! No waiting whatsoever during dropoff and pickup. A++ for efficiency and professionalism. I really appreciate the hard work and dedication of these HSWC staff. They're just amazing. Thank you!
