I took my dog there for an emergency c-section. The doctor was kind and informative and quoted me $2800 - $3500 for the c-section and spay. They said they wouldn't call the surgeon in until they received a $2500 deposit. I understand this and just wanted my dog healthy. After about an hour the doctor called and said that after they opened her up they saw it was worse than they expected and that her uterus had ruptured and 3 puppies were just basically floating. This means bacteria had gotten into her ruptured uterus and she was septic. They would have to remove her uterus, clean her out and give her antibiotics. Recovery would long. To do this, they needed an additional $5500 on top of my $2500 deposit or euthanize her. I had to make a decision right now because she was on the operating room table. So, in a kind way, he said "I can save your dogs life, but only if you give me a total of $8000". They were going to charge $2800-$3500 to open her up, remove the pups, clean her out, spay her and stitch her back up. So, removing her uterus and putting her on antibiotics was $4500 more? I am confused! I can understand maybe $1000 more for the doctors time, but $4500 more?! In the moment, I was devastated and couldn't think of anything other than I don't have $8000 to give. As I cried, we told the doctor we could't afford the surgery. He told us that he had 2 live puppies that we need to pick up. When I got there, we were immediately told we needed to take care of the balance due. I had no idea why I even had a balance. They opened her up then euthanized her and that cost me a total of $2593. They brought me the puppies with some powdered milk (with incorrect directions on the amount to feed). No copy of the bill or credit card receipt. Just UN-fed newborn puppies that were starving and cold. It was one of the worst days of my life. My sweet, 2 year old girls life should have been valued. I'm not sure how a person can get in the business of saving animals lives and then tell me they CAN, but WON'T save her without an extra $4500. So sad. - Joe Lalk

Mission MedVet: Senter David DVM Introduce

For pet owners in Kansas, particularly across the greater Kansas City Metro area, knowing where to turn for both routine and urgent, specialized care is vital. Mission MedVet: Senter David DVM is a name associated with a location that has historically been one of the region's most trusted and long-standing veterinary facilities, primarily focused on high-level specialty and emergency services. Located in Mission, KS, this center provides a critical resource for pet families when life-threatening situations occur or when a pet requires care that goes beyond what a typical general practice veterinarian can offer.

The practice is fundamentally different from a primary care vet, operating as a specialized facility that often requires referrals or deals directly with animal emergencies. They are equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and boast a team of specialized veterinarians who focus on complex areas like internal medicine, cardiology, and advanced surgical solutions. This commitment to specialized, round-the-clock care ensures that Kansas pets facing serious illnesses or injuries have immediate access to life-saving and extended care.

While the name specifically references Dr. David Senter, DVM, a board-certified veterinary dermatologist who has practiced specialty medicine in the Kansas City area for many years, the facility at 5914 Johnson Drive is widely recognized as a major center for 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care, alongside various other veterinary specialties. It stands as a vital extension of primary veterinary care for local residents.

### Introduction / Overview
