My dog had torn both ACL’s, one after the other. During the first tear, we had no idea what the cause of his pain and lameness was. We went to three different vets and they all said it was simply mild arthritis. By the time we took him to Dr. Dean, he could hardly walk. He was able to immediately show us the tear in his leg on the X-ray and went over in detail how he could fix it. He also warned us that because he put so much weight on his other leg during this time, it would likely tear too. He was transparent with us about the entire process from surgery to recovery and we knew without a doubt that we could trust him with such an extensive surgery. We had both legs operated on at different times over the course of a year. He was seven just before his first surgery. His lameness was so bad we had to carry him outside just to go to the restroom. He’s eight now and can run and play and has the energy of a puppy again. I will be forever grateful for the years we gained back with our dog because of Dr. Dean. The professionalism and wisdom he carries will always be respected by me and my partner. I highly recommend him for anyone that might be in a similar situation that we were in. - randi wilson

What is worth choosing

When a pet is in serious pain or facing a complex medical issue, choosing the right veterinary care is critical. Mustang Veterinary Surgical is worth choosing for several compelling reasons. The most significant of these is the unparalleled expertise in specialized procedures. A general vet may not have the same level of experience with a specific condition like a cruciate ligament injury. As one client shared, their dog's issue was misdiagnosed by three other vets as "mild arthritis" before Dr. Dean was able to "immediately show us the tear in his leg on the X-ray" and provide a solution. This level of diagnostic precision is invaluable.

Furthermore, the clinic's commitment to transparent and honest communication sets them apart. When dealing with a serious surgical decision, knowing that the vet will be "transparent with us about the entire process from surgery to recovery" and that you can "trust him without a doubt" provides incredible peace of mind. This is not just about a medical procedure; it is about entrusting a beloved family member's life and quality of life to a professional. The fact that pets treated by Dr. Dean can "run and play and have the energy of a puppy again" years after surgery is the ultimate testament to his skill.

In addition to their medical prowess, the team's professional and respectful approach makes the entire experience easier. The clinic's focus on guiding clients through the rehab process, as well as providing support for long-term recovery, shows a holistic commitment to the pet's well-being. The positive outcomes reported by clients, with pets healing well and having no recurring problems, solidify their reputation as a leader in specialized veterinary care in Texas. For any pet owner facing a complex orthopedic or soft tissue issue, Mustang Veterinary Surgical offers not just a treatment, but a pathway to a better quality of life for their pet.
