Neighborhood Veterinary Associates - NVA Reviews
The whole team at NVA is excellent! My two dogs see Dr. Petro and she always takes such great care of them. She listens to any concerns I have and answers my many questions. Recently, one of my dogs broke his foot, which has required many visits, casts and various treatments. She’s taken care of him every step of the way, and I always know he’s in good hands with Dr. Petro and her staff. I highly recommend them!
Mar 26, 2025 · Averie GeorgeMy daughter’s dumpy tree frog sustained a bad injury when 2 toes got caught in the terrarium door. Because he didn’t bleed or fuss, by the time we noticed he was injured 2 days later, the flesh on his toes had died. I worried about sepsis and quality of life. I’m very grateful that I was able to secure an appointment the next morning. The staff is amazing. Caring, professional, knowledgeable and good educators. I’m terrible with names or I’d give shout out to the techs who were fantastic. They have a true amphibian enthusiast on staff in addition to a specialized vet - yay!XR was done, froggie was treated humanely and he’s now on the mend. I was reassured that he’ll be able to adapt with his missing digits since he’s otherwise healthy. The vet was very precise in his work for the best possibility of rejuvenation. I couldn’t ask for more. Even the expense was reasonable. My concerns about quality of life are quelled and I’m relieved to have the guidance and care we needed in a timely manner.I’m so glad these folks are in our area! If I have any future vet needs, they’ll see me again. I’m most grateful and impressed.
Jun 12, 2025 · Heather MoniqueThis is an overdue review. The Dr. who helped our 24 year old Umbrella Cockatoo who had a ruptured abdominal hernia was beyond a gift from God. It is hard to find an exotic vet to begin with but he went above and beyond to save her life. I believe he was a veterinarian for the US Army and took our bird in for emergency surgery as soon as we arrived (like a war zone ER). We could not afford thousands of dollars for surgery and treatment. We left within an hour or two with the surgery complete and with antibiotics. It would be a wait and see if she would survive. As I right this she is back in perfect health as if nothing had ever happened. The amount he charged was beyond a gift to us. There are good people out there who care and look at cases on an individual per case basis. Thank you so much for your kindness and great work. May God bless him and the great people at this Animal Hospital. I can't thank them enough for what they did for us. You will never be forgotten by our family.
Apr 12, 2025 · Stuart HarperWe’ve had just one trusted vet for the past three years and never experienced any issues — that is, until we decided to try NVA due to change in distance. To say our experience was disappointing would be an understatement; preposterous feels more accurate.Just as you expect professionalism, kindness, and respect from your own doctor and their staff, pet owners deserve the same standard of care from their veterinarian. Sadly, this clinic fell dramatically short on most fronts. From the beginning, there was a striking lack of transparency in billing. Charges appeared without explanation — including a bath that never even happened in this instance . This wasn’t an isolated incident; it happened during our first visit (a line item that we didn’t incur), and again at this last visit. Be warned- Always check your itemized bill, because things will be added without your knowledge. The front desk lacks diligence.I predict the owner of this practice/whoever responds to posts to come back with immature remarks to this as he/she has done to other reviewers giving feedback in the past. I hope he/she disappoints me and takes this feedback. We brought our dog in based on this vet’s instructions to return asap if his condition recurred so that blood work could be done asap for Tox screen. The vet never said it was an emergency or that we needed to call ahead — just that we should come in. So we did, during business hours, in the middle of work, we just grabbed the dog and drove down. We communicated this clearly at the front desk.Despite that, we were hit with an “emergency bill” at check out because we walked in and was accused of not calling by ahead. When I tried to explain the situation and the expectation of cost transparency before services are rendered, the practice manager dismissed everything I said with stunning arrogance. “Whatever you say doesn’t change the charge,” she told me — repeatedly interrupting and speaking over me, offering no apology or empathy, and showing zero interest in the wellbeing of our dog. She was extremely rude and lacking in finesse to deal with customers. There was no one waiting to be seen in the lobby. NO dog or customer waiting at the front desk, we were the only one and shortly afterward ushered in. To our knowledge it’s not like they cut in front of 4 other pets with appointments to see us.The practice manager wasn’t just unprofessional; she was insulting. The front desk staff showed the same lack of courtesy — no “hello,” no concern for our dog’s condition, just an unbending focus on the bill. At no point did anyone ask how our pet was doing. Not a word of kindness. It was strictly transactional, and aggressively so.Even our previous visit — which included a pet bath — was marred by disorganization. We waited over 30 minutes past our scheduled time, the bathing area was dirty, towels were unavailable, and the water was ice cold. Not a word of apology or any attempt at making it right. The lady at front desk was clueless on what to do and tried at least 4 different things before the water got warm, still charged us FULL price with no apologies. The only silver lining? The vet techs, who were kind and professional. But the front of house staff, including the practice manager, completely undermined any goodwill with their behavior. As a physician and business owner myself, I’m appalled by how poorly this clinic handles both communication and care. It’s deeply disappointing — and frankly, disgraceful — to be treated with such disregard when all you’re trying to do is follow a vet’s instructions and help your pet.I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. If you value transparency, professionalism, and a sense of human decency, look elsewhere. The lack of trust this experience created is not something you want in a place responsible for your pet’s health.
Apr 19, 2025 · MagnificentI am so grateful for the team at NVA who saw my kitty for an emergency visit on a Sunday which required surgery. The front office staff were welcoming and veterinary care team all took a caring approach. In addition I was very appreciative of their evening hours for follow up care after work in addition to a fair and reasonable billing. While I hope to never have another emergency visit, I am glad to know that there is such a wonderful clinic in Clarksburg!--Thank you, Lily & Katniss
