As a specialized veterinary cancer center, the North Central Ohio Veterinary Cancer Center focuses on advanced diagnostic and treatment options for various types of cancer in pets. While a comprehensive list should always be confirmed directly with the facility, common services offered by such specialized oncology centers typically include:
Oncological Consultations: Detailed discussions with pet owners to explain cancer diagnoses, discuss prognosis, and outline various treatment options available.
Chemotherapy: Administration of anti-cancer drugs, often tailored to the specific type of cancer and individual pet, to either cure, control, or reduce the size of tumors. This can include both intravenous and oral medications.
Radiation Therapy Planning and Coordination: While radiation therapy itself may be performed at partner facilities, a cancer center typically handles the planning, patient preparation, and post-radiation care.
Surgical Oncology: Procedures performed to remove cancerous tumors, often involving complex techniques to ensure complete excision while preserving function.
Advanced Diagnostics: Utilizing sophisticated diagnostic tools specific to cancer detection and staging, which may include advanced imaging (e.g., CT scans, MRI, ultrasound), biopsies, cytology, and specialized laboratory tests.
Pain Management and Palliative Care: Focused care to manage pain and other symptoms associated with cancer, significantly improving the pet's quality of life even when a cure is not possible. This can also include hospice care.
Immunotherapy: Emerging treatments that utilize the pet's own immune system to fight cancer cells.
Nutritional Support for Cancer Patients: Specialized dietary recommendations and support to maintain strength and optimize the health of pets undergoing cancer treatment.
Client Education and Support: Providing extensive information to pet owners about their pet's condition, treatment plans, potential side effects, and offering emotional support throughout the process.
Highly Specialized Expertise: The center's focus on veterinary oncology means that pets receive care from professionals specifically trained and experienced in diagnosing and treating cancer. Dr. Andrew, specifically mentioned in reviews, highlights the expertise available.
Compassionate and Empathetic Approach: Client testimonials repeatedly emphasize the caring nature of the staff. Phrases like "breath of fresh air," "vet that cares about your beloved pet," and "great with my dog (who gets anxious around new people)" reflect a deep understanding and empathy for both the pets and their anxious owners. This is particularly crucial when dealing with serious diagnoses like cancer.
Honest and Ethical Practice: A significant highlight from reviews is the center's commitment to honesty. The feedback notes, "No charging for procedures just to increase the bill. I am a happy client." This indicates a strong ethical stance, where the pet's best interest dictates the treatment plan, rather than financial incentives. This transparency builds considerable trust with pet owners.
Thorough Explanations and Communication: Pet owners appreciate that the veterinarians, such as Dr. Andrew, "explained everything thoroughly." Effective communication is vital in complex medical situations, ensuring owners understand the diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes. The prompt return of calls is also a highly valued feature.
Positive Patient Outcomes: The review mentioning "my pup is doing much better!" after following the doctor's recommendations speaks volumes about the effectiveness of the care provided. This focus on positive results reinforces the center's reputation.
Supportive Environment: For pets who are anxious around new people, the ability of the staff to handle them well, as noted in the review, demonstrates a calm and reassuring environment crucial for successful treatment and reducing stress.

North Central Ohio Veterinary Cancer Center Reviews
Such a breath of fresh air. A vet that cares about your beloved pet. Goes well above and beyond and gets right back to you when you need him. So happy I found him and his clinic. Best part, if your pet doesn't need anything or a procedure would be iffy at best, he is honest. No charging for procedures just to increase the bill. I am a happy client.

Jun 24, 2025 · Alexis FelicianoAlmost 7 years ago, Dr. Andrew saved the life of our then 11 month old Bull Terrier by performing skilled abdominal obstruction surgery. Unbeknownst to us, Freddie had swallowed one of our great-grandson's silicone pacifiers. It had worked its way through his gastrointestinal system until it became lodged in his colon. Dr. Andrew removed the obstruction, tested the strength of the repair, and closely cared for Freddie over the next two days, when we were able to bring him home. Dr. Andrew educated us thoroughly on the prescribed medication regime, home care, and possible complications to watch for. Thankfully, there were none and Freddie remains a healthy Bully today. We could not be more grateful for Dr. Andrew's knowledgeable care of Freddie as well as his amazing compassionate care of our Elkhound/Shepherd mix, Hope, who was blessed enough to receive expert care for renal failure with hypertension. As a result of this care, we loved Hope and shared her life for over three years post diagnosis. We trust Dr. Andrew to provide the best of care.
