Northside Animal Hospital Reviews
I’ve been here twice to have my guinea pigs looked at and each experience was great no matter the outcome. The techs here are so friendly and compassionate as well as the Vet! They explain everything that is going on and talk to you about prices. Their clinic prices are fair and some are way better than other emergency type vets I’ve been to before. I also appreciate that they take exotic pets because they are hard to find. Thank you for saving my Penelope pigs life.
Jun 28, 2025 · Tiffany RoseI really like Dr. Cox as well as her staff. She’s knowledgeable about exotics, trustworthy, has totally reasonable pricing, and I love that she is transparent and gives you options regarding various routes of treatment. Since 2022, I’ve been to 4 different avian vets in the Pittsburgh region w/either my pet ducks or my pet parrots. Dr. Cox’s office in Pittsburgh is the furthest away from my house but I still prefer to go to her instead, b/c I know I’ll leave the visit feeling the most confident that my birds have received the highest standard of care. That to me is worth its weight in gold regardless of distance.
Jul 03, 2025 · Jocelyn LewisI will never take a pet to anyone but Dr. Cox. She goes above and beyond and treats our ferrets like they're her own. The team at Northside is always attentive, helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. The walk-in hours are a life saver, and the care you receive is second to none. And despite emergency service and owning exotics, their pricing for services is incredible. Considering the degree of care and knowledge we receive with every interaction, we send every friend with pets here.Thank you, Dr. Cox and the NS team. You are all wonderful and so appreciated.
Apr 11, 2025 · Kayle BarnesDr. Cox is incredible! We have a 6 year old ferret who started showing some concerning symptoms late on Friday a few weeks ago. We reached out to Northside and they told us to bring her in, when we arrived we were immediately brought into an exam room and they quickly went to work assessing her condition and checking her vitals.By the time we left, she was stabilized, had medication and a game plan for us to take care of her. We had another round of issues with her last night, and again Dr. Cox was able to see her right away, again assessed her condition and came back with several options for continuation of care.During both visits both Dr. Cox and her staff were wonderful, compassionate, and very personable. They treated our little princess exactly how a loving pet owner would hope.Especially with ferrets in the veterinary field, a lot of doctors make the mistake of assuming they are all the same and have no behavior outside of what was written in a medical journal 100+ years ago. It can be very frustrating as an attentive pet owner to describe a behavior she has never exhibited before and be told it's nothing. On the contrary, Dr. Cox seems to take a slightly holistic approach in addition to her medical knowledge. She acknowledged that we know our baby very well and trusts what we tell her is out of the ordinary. During both visits, neither my boyfriend nor I felt talked down to or disregarded. When it comes to treatment and diagnosis, Dr. Cox explains very clearly what she found, what she thinks it is indicating, several possible options for treatment with pros and cons to each, and allows us to make the most educated decision we possibly can with her guidance.I will be sending any and all ferret owners her way, she is truly a godsend. It is incredibly hard to find reliable, educated care for ferrets in the area and I'm thankful we have found Dr. Cox.
Apr 11, 2025 · AllieI took my little baby here over a month ago after searching for places with afternoon/evening availability and I am so glad I did. Thank you for taking good care of him and treating him with what you could that day as the cause was unclear. Fortunately, the treatment worked after a few days and he recovered. I am grateful for that and that I still have time with both of my babies as he and his brother are both Seniors over 17 years of age but they are still my little boys, always. Thank you, Dr. Cox.
