★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- These people are amazing. My dog son was injured by another dog. This Vet got me an appointment a.s.a.p. Thank god it was the same day. While his procedure (wound cleaning, rabies injection, steroid injection, medicine and stitches) ended up being a bit on the expensive side (very understandable); the care given to him was wonderful. The staff was very kind and sympathetic. Dr. Took amazing care of my boy! Thank you all who helped him. Charlie and our family thank you from the bottom of our wee little hearts. P.S they actually answer their phone unlike some places July 22 · Brooke M
- We have used Piper since we had our puppy's a lil over 12 years ago. They have always done very good for our pups. We have 2 12 yr old, 1 9 yr old, and a 1 year old. We lost 1 to of our other 12 yr old a year and a half ago to cancer. We would love to spend a lifetime with our kids, but the time we have will have to be good. Wo the care we get from Piper, I feel that our pups wouldn't be as in good shape as they are..... May 09 · Drew Mies

- My puppy was spayed by Dr Hodges back in March. She regurgitated while being spayed and it went up into her nasal cavity causing scar tissue. Now she cannot breathe out of her nose. His colleague referred us to Manhattan vet for further care. We have never heard from him ever. I wrote a letter and no response ! He was highly recommended to us but unfortunately has not lived up to any of his reputation. No compassion, no feelings, I know now that our puppy meant nothing to him or the whole business- it makes me sad. Dr Hodges couldn’t care less. He is a coward. We have spent thousands of dollars trying to help our girl to breathe through her nose. She foams of her mouth, she can’t make it around the block, she makes loud noises and her throat sounds full of phlegm all the time. She has terrible allergies, she snots constantly, pants all the time to breathe . She was perfectly healthy before all this. It’s so sad when you believe in the best and you think you are doing the right thing but turns the complete opposite. My puppy can’t speak for herself, she didn’t choose this to happen. What is the worst is having a vet that doesn’t care at all about the outcome. She is my baby and deserves so much better than the treatment they’ve given to us. It’s important to do your research and make sure you are aware of everything going on behind the scenes. Ask many questions and know exactly what is done to your fur baby’s. August 18 · Suzanne Wendt
- It has taken me some time to process the traumatic experience my dog and I had at this establishment. After reading numerous reviews, it seems there is a consistent pattern with how certain vets here handle larger breeds of dogs.We had been going to Piper Heritage for nearly 3 years. We have 2 cats and a German Shepherd. My husband has traditionally brought our German Shepherd to this clinic. When he’s needed shots or bloodwork, it was always accommodated in the room with him, keeping our dog calm and minimizing stress. However, when I brought him in, I was told he had to be taken to the back, separated from me. I explained that this breed is known to be protective and easily stressed in unfamiliar settings, and asked why my husband had been allowed to stay with him, but I was not. I was dismissed without a clear answer.Reluctantly, I agreed. Minutes later, a vet tech returned with my dog, saying he had peed a little and raised his lip when they went to touch his genital area. They brought him back into the room for treatment, but now insisted he be muzzled. Once again, I asked why my concerns were not taken seriously from the start, but received no explanation.I complied, even though I had a bad feeling. During the physical, my dog reared up and accidentally knocked off my sunglasses. I stayed calm. The vet and tech did not they immediately began repeating “he’s anxious, we’re stopping,” and escalated the situation with their own fear and tension. I began to remove the muzzle. At that point, the vet sharply told me, “You need to wait until I leave the room to do that!” despite the fact that I had already removed it and my dog remained calmly at my side, visibly more afraid of them than they were of him.To make matters worse, they attempted to charge me for services they had not completed. When I refused, the vet came in with someone I believe was the manager and told me they were “legally obligated” to charge me and that if my dog were to return, he would need to be sedated with medication. Once again, I asked why my clearly communicated concerns were disregarded, and again, no real response just a decision to terminate us as clients. In hindsight, I’m thankful. It became clear that staff here are either uncomfortable with or untrained in handling larger, more sensitive breeds. We quickly found a new vet much closer to home who took the time to let our dog warm up to her, used peanut butter and treats, and allowed us to stay with him throughout. He received his shots while licking her face. That’s the kind of care he deserves. July 14 · nichi aleman
