Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services Introduce
For pet owners in Vermont, particularly those in the Rutland area, finding a veterinary clinic that provides comprehensive care with a compassionate touch is a top priority. Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services, located in Rutland, VT, aims to be that trusted partner in your pet's health journey. This full-service, AAHA-accredited animal hospital is committed to offering a wide range of services, from routine medical care to advanced surgical and dental procedures, ensuring that your beloved companions receive the highest possible standard of care throughout their lives.
Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services prides itself on its commitment to superior veterinary care within a comfortable and compassionate environment. They state that their mission is to ensure that both pets and their owners feel their needs and concerns are met. As veterinary professionals and pet owners themselves, they understand the challenges of providing comprehensive care and strive to make the experience easier by continually reviewing and expanding their scope of services to meet evolving needs. They welcome emergency treatment cases alongside patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care.
However, it's important for prospective clients to be aware that experiences can vary. While the hospital aims for excellence, some reviews indicate areas where client communication and patient care might fall short of expectations for some individuals. For instance, one customer reported dissatisfaction with a diagnosis for their dog's mobility issues, stating that the clinic initially attributed it to a genetic problem before a requested tick-borne disease test came back positive. This client also expressed frustration with what they perceived as an unprofessional response and being "dropped as a patient" after challenging the initial diagnosis and seeking follow-up care. Another client shared a negative experience where their dog was sent home twice for the same issue without resolution, incurring costs for seemingly superficial examinations. These accounts highlight the importance of clear communication and a thorough diagnostic approach in veterinary medicine.
Conversely, many other clients have expressed significant satisfaction with Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services. Numerous testimonials on their website and other platforms praise the "genuinely caring staff and knowledgeable vets." Clients have described the team as "super friendly, professional, and helpful," and appreciate that the office is "very clean and nicely decorated." Reviewers frequently mention that the staff and vets treat their pets "like family" and that the hospital "makes you feel like home." Dr. Gifford and Dr. Sullivan have been specifically mentioned by name for their excellent care, accurate diagnoses, and compassionate approach, even during difficult times. The clinic is lauded for accommodating sick visits, responding quickly in emergencies, and providing helpful reminder cards for appointments. This contrast in experiences suggests that while the clinic generally strives for high standards and many clients are pleased, some individual interactions may not always meet everyone's expectations.

Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services Reviews
Recently took my dog here as she needed treatment for what I suspected to be some kind of tick borne disease. I didn’t know what was wrong with my dog but I knew she had been bitten by tick several times over the last few years and I wasn’t willing to accept their snap test. After I challenged Sharon’s, (the owners)diagnosis of it just being a genetic problem with her knees, I demanded a test to have her checked for it which did come back positive! She wasn’t happy that I didn’t accept her original diagnosis and questioned her indoctrinated answers. I even showed her recent case studies that were published by the ABVS which talked about how their almighty SNAP test couldn’t detect active lyme disease infections which was all she was willing to do. She didn’t like that, so when I called back a couple weeks later to follow up with more treatment as my dog wasn’t showing any signs of improvement, she rudely said someone would call me back tomorrow and hung up on me. When I tried calling back the next day they wouldn’t answer their phone and sent me an email saying they dropped me as a patient. All because I challenged this womans “expertise.” Very unprofessional! Now my poor dog is having more trouble walking than ever before and I have to wait a month to get into another vet or pay the high prices of emergency vet care.
May 30, 2025 · ChrisIf I could give them a 0 star review I 100% would. I brought my dog in there twice for the same issue and each time they sent her home saying there was nothing wrong with her. They didn’t do any ex rays or anything like they should have they gave us no helpful information and now my dog is still suffering in pain. She’s been panting a lot and chewing at her paws along with crying a lot bc she’s in sm pain. I highly recommend not bringing your dog here unless you wanna waste your money we had to pay over 100$ each time just for them to look at my dog feel her belly and tell us to go home.
Mar 21, 2025 · Jerromy HenryWe recently had to say goodbye to our beloved Girtie. She was the most loyal companion for 15 years. Calling Riverside was the best decision. Dr Gifford and everyone we had contact with at Riverside showed nothing but compassion and kindness. I don’t think I will have another pet anytime soon but when I’m ready I know where to go!!
Aug 25, 2023 · Lisa NavarreteSo recently my cat ( JAXS) had to have surgery for I mass tumor removal from his rear leg. And I could have not asked better people to tend to his needs and treated him. They did an amazing job and I am so thankful for them. And I think (jaxs) is happy too. Ty again.
Mar 17, 2025 · Gregory BissetteMy 3 boy kitties have all been/are patients here. I am convinced that bringing my first cat here saved his life, as he was very ill and was blown off at another vet office. We got 16 more months with him I believe as a result of excellent care here. My current boy is a patient here now and just had his annual. He finds it terrifying but everyone is so nice to him & us! As long as I live in Rutland I will always use Riverside!Cat mom of Henry, and late bros Jarvis & George
