Solomons Veterinary Medical Center stands out in the Maryland veterinary landscape due to several remarkable features and highlights that consistently receive high praise from its clientele:
Exceptional Care and Profound Compassion:
The overarching highlight, as repeatedly noted by clients, is the "care and love they have for animals really shows through." This genuine compassion extends from the front desk staff to the vet techs and, critically, to the doctors themselves. Pets reportedly receive "EXCELLENT patient care," indicating a truly nurturing environment.
Thorough and Detailed Assessments:
Unlike some other vets in the area, the veterinarians at Solomons are lauded for conducting "a full assessment of my animal." They meticulously "listen to lungs, heart, check gums, and ears," ensuring no detail is overlooked. This comprehensive approach instills confidence in pet owners that their animals are receiving a complete and diligent examination.
Client Involvement and Transparency:
A significant highlight is their policy of allowing owners to "stay with my cats and not just pull them back where I have no idea what they’re even doing back there." This transparency and inclusion fosters trust and comfort, especially for first-time pet owners or those with anxious animals. Dr. Edwards, for instance, is praised for helping a senior cat feel comfortable and answering all questions.
Dedicated to Patient Comfort (Fear Free Certified):
Solomons Veterinary Medical Center is a Fear Free certified practice. This means they are specifically trained to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets, using techniques that make vet visits a more positive experience. This certification directly supports the positive feedback about excellent patient care and animal comfort.
Efficient Scheduling and Accommodating Staff:
Despite being a popular practice, the "front desk staff always tries their best to get me in either same day or next," and they "haven’t failed yet." This responsiveness to non-urgent but necessary appointments is a huge relief for pet owners whose animals fall ill but don't require emergency care, demonstrating a strong commitment to client convenience.
Fair and Transparent Pricing:
While acknowledging they may not be the cheapest, clients consistently feel "the pricing is completely fair for the amount of care my animals receive and the attention to detail." They also encourage asking about prices in advance, promoting financial transparency and helping pet owners manage their budget effectively. They also offer payment solutions like CareCredit and Scratchpay.
Modern Convenience:
The availability of online booking and a mobile app (PetDesk) for appointments, refills, and records underscores their commitment to modernizing the client experience, making interactions seamless and convenient for busy Maryland residents.

This isn't just about medical proficiency; it's about genuine empathy that permeates every level of interaction, from the front desk to the veterinarians. For Maryland pet owners, knowing that their "fur babies" will receive "EXCELLENT patient care" delivered with such warmth and patience is incredibly reassuring, especially during stressful times. The ability to stay with their pets during examinations, rather than having them "pulled back," further fosters this sense of trust and comfort.
Secondly, the clinic's commitment to thoroughness and detail in their assessments sets them apart. Unlike some practices, Solomons Veterinary Medical Center ensures a full and meticulous examination, listening to the heart and lungs, checking gums and ears. This diligent approach means that potential health issues are more likely to be identified early, leading to better outcomes for local pets. This attention to detail, combined with their Fear Free certification, demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of both physical and emotional well-being.
Furthermore, the logistical aspects of the practice significantly enhance its suitability for locals. The responsiveness of the front desk staff in securing appointments, often on the same or next day for non-urgent illnesses, is a tremendous benefit for busy Maryland families. While pricing is acknowledged as not the cheapest, clients consistently feel it is "completely fair for the amount of care" received, and the availability of transparent pricing information and payment options like CareCredit adds to the financial clarity and accessibility.
Finally, with its broad range of services, modern conveniences like online booking and a mobile app, and a central location in Solomons, this veterinary center is designed to be a comprehensive and convenient partner in lifelong pet health. Solomons Veterinary Medical Center Reviews
I have nothing but great things to say about this veterinary practice. The care and love they have for animals really shows through. From the front desk staff, to vet techs through the doctors. My Golden, in our three years here, has unfortunately gotten sick quite a bit lol. Not enough for an urgent care, but enough he needed to be seen within 1-2 days. The front desk staff always tries their best to get me in either same day or next. They haven’t failed yet. This is certainly not the cheapest vet in the area, BUT I think the pricing is completely fair for the amount of care my animals receive and the attention to detail. Some vets I’ve been to in the area do not do a full assessment of my animal. At Solomon’s the vets listen to lungs, heart, check gums, and ears. They allow me to stay with my cats and not just pull them back where I have no idea what they’re even doing back there. They are patient and provide all of my animals EXCELLENT patient care. I can’t recommend them enough.
Jun 02, 2025 · Katherine SigmonIt’s my first time being a pet owner by myself, and I was nervous when bringing my senior cat to the vet. The staff was so friendly to me and Dr. Edwards was also very kind and she helped my cat feel comfortable and answered all of my questions. I didn’t see an issue with pricing for all of her shots/bloodwork and felt great leaving the office! If you’re worried about prices, you can ask in advance as well. I feel comfortable bringing back my cat for the remainder of her life
Jun 03, 2025 · Clay KieselNew to the area this vet was highly recommended. Very busy practice but they never make you feel rushed, and great care was taken to make sure my dogs felt comfortable. Just completed neuter of one, and the recovery has been very easy. Provided adequate meds knowing how active he is, and plenty of pain medicine. Post op instructions were very clear. Setting up routine appointments is super easy online, and the front desk staff are great about following up or helping you set up appointments for things more urgent. Highly recommend.
Jan 25, 2025 · Erica HawkinsI have been reminded for the last 7 years or so about the worst experience I have definitely had with a pet and I've had a few in my almost 60 years. My German shepherd was having severe stomach pain and brought him in. Which I had started taking him after we moved here. Anyway I brought him in and they did an x-ray and trying to lift him instead of dropping the table down she dropped him and his head hit the wooden bench. I know she didn't mean to do it and he ended up okay so I told her don't worry accidents happen. So I will try to make this as short as possible. After x-ray the vet told me my dog needed surgery and it was going to cost 5000.00 and I was like oh ×××× I didn't know what to do. So the one lady said they have visiting students getting ready to become vets that will reduce the cost and for me to apply for care one credit. So I applied and was approved for 1800.00 I was really relieved that my buddy was going to be okay. So they were getting ready to close and told me that they were going to keep him and do the surgery the next day. I was like upset my dog was there but also happy I was going to make him feel better. The next morning I get woken up from a phone call that my dog was better and didn't need surgery. Oh I was so happy I got my son and daughter and went to pick my best friend up. When we got him I had already talked to the vet on the phone so my German shepherd is very strong and can pull you off the ground. So when I sign the paperwork they said they put the payment on the care one card and my dog was pulling so hard I took him out and he smelled like sh×t it was packed on him and he peed for literally no exaggeration one minute straight. I was upset that he was put in a cage all night sleeping in his feces. I was so happy that buddy was home though. But I get reminded because they put that whole 1800.00 that I got approved for surgery that he didn't need or get. I am a nice person but you know when you get to a certain point you end up making wrong decisions. Anyway so from this the care credit took me to court , put a lean on me. Thats what I mean about wrong decisions. It wasn't the credit card company that suckered me out of 1800.00 . And of course it messed my credit up. Hey hope everyone's best friends are happy and always pay attention when it comes to someone saying your pet needs surgery.
Jun 26, 2025 · Big JimI cannot say enough good things about Solomon's Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Holmes! Today, I had a terrifying emergency when my dog, Gibbs, was profusely bleeding.
