---Somerset Animal Clinic strives to offer a range of veterinary services designed to meet the diverse health needs of pets. While specific offerings may vary, a typical veterinary clinic of this nature provides comprehensive care. Based on the common services expected from a local animal clinic, here are some of the key areas of focus:
- Wellness and Preventive Care: This foundational aspect of pet health includes routine examinations, vaccinations to protect against common diseases, deworming, and parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, heartworm). Regular check-ups are crucial for early detection of potential health issues, ensuring your pet stays healthy and happy.
- Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses and conditions, the clinic likely utilizes various diagnostic tools. This can include in-house laboratory services for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams, as well as imaging services like X-rays to assess skeletal and internal organ health.
- Surgical Procedures: Common surgical procedures, ranging from routine spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries, are often performed. These procedures are conducted with a focus on patient safety and comfort, often including pre-surgical blood work and pain management protocols.
- Dental Care: Oral health is a critical component of overall pet well-being. Services typically include professional dental cleanings (scaling and polishing), tooth extractions when necessary, and advice on at-home dental care to prevent periodontal disease.
- Nutritional Counseling: Proper nutrition is vital for a pet's health at every life stage. Veterinary staff can provide guidance on appropriate diets, weight management, and specialized nutritional plans for pets with specific health conditions.
- Microchipping: This essential service helps in the safe return of lost pets. A small microchip, implanted under the skin, provides permanent identification that can be scanned by animal shelters and veterinary clinics.
- Pain Management: For pets experiencing acute or chronic pain, the clinic can offer various pain management strategies, including medication, and potentially other therapeutic approaches, to improve their quality of life.
- End-of-Life Care and Euthanasia: When the time comes, compassionate end-of-life care, including counseling and humane euthanasia services, is provided. This sensitive service focuses on ensuring comfort and dignity for pets and support for their grieving families.
Somerset Animal Clinic distinguishes itself through several key features that resonate with pet owners seeking dedicated care. While every clinic has its unique strengths, certain aspects are frequently highlighted by those who have experienced their services.
- Compassionate and Caring Staff: A recurring theme in feedback from pet owners points to the deep compassion and genuine care exhibited by the clinic's staff. This is particularly evident during difficult times, such as end-of-life care, where the team's empathy can make a significant difference for grieving families. The willingness to go beyond standard procedures, like sending personalized condolence cards, speaks volumes about their commitment to supporting pet owners.
- Personalized Attention: Clients often appreciate the personalized approach to pet care. This can include staff members taking the time to understand each pet's unique needs and building a rapport with both the animals and their owners. A personal touch in communication and service helps foster a strong sense of trust and community.
- Commitment to Local Community: As a local business, Somerset Animal Clinic is an integral part of the Somerset community. This local embeddedness often means a deeper understanding of the specific health challenges and needs of pets in the area, as well as a commitment to serving their neighbors.
- Dedicated to Pet Well-being: The clinic's operational philosophy appears centered around the well-being of the animals under their care. From routine wellness checks to more complex medical interventions, the underlying goal is to improve and maintain the health and comfort of pets.

Somerset Animal Clinic Reviews
Sadly, we lost our buddy of 11 years and had to say our final goodbye last week. The staff was beyond compassionate and comforting and a few days later, we received a letter in the mail with a handwritten card with personalized notes from each person on the team which just brought us to tears. They did not have to do that but that little act of kindness and personal touch meant the world at that moment. We are beyond thankful for this clinic and can’t recommend this staff enough.Thank you Somerset team for ALL you do.
Feb 10, 2025 · Michael AyalaA Heartbreaking Experience⭐☆☆☆☆ — Sommerset Animal ClinicI’ve debated whether to share this, but my experience deserves to be known — especially for other pet parents who trust a vet with their beloved companion’s life.My dog Sweets had been under the care of Dr. Green at Sommerset Animal Clinic for about a year and a half. Over the past month, Sweets had been declining — vomiting clear liquid, not eating, visibly uncomfortable. I had already spent around $1,000 trying to help her get better under their care.On June 10th, her condition took a sharp turn for the worse. Her stomach became bloated and she was vomiting thick, clear fluid. I first called the clinic at 11:00 AM and continued calling multiple times throughout the day, explaining how much worse she had become and that she needed to be seen urgently. Each time, I was told no appointments were available. I begged for someone to help, asked if Dr. Green could please call me — but she never did. When I requested her records, I was stunned to read the following chart note entered by their own staff:“06-10-25 at 1:05p: o called keeps calling saying pt needs to be seen 6/10 but we don't have any availability… said pt is getting worse and keeps insisting… Dr. Green says pt has to wait for appt tomorrow or go to EC… o says she spent $1,000 for pt to be seen… if o calls again let her know she has to wait or go to EC.”They documented my calls. They acknowledged I said she was getting worse. And still, no one helped us. No one called me back. I was told, again, to wait or go to an emergency clinic. Sweets was in visible distress, and I was begging for help.I had no choice but to take Sweets to an unfamiliar emergency hospital, where they told me she was suffering too much to recover. I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep — in a place she didn’t know, without the vet who had been treating her. When I called Sommerset the next morning to cancel her appointment and let them know she had passed, the only thing I was told was:“Okay, we’ll cancel it.”No condolences. No care. Nothing.I trusted this clinic. I trusted Dr. Green. I don’t understand the complete lack of compassion, the refusal to even speak to me, or the failure to acknowledge that sometimes scheduled care isn’t enough.Sweets was family. She deserved better. I am devastated by this experience and how my baby had to suffer. What makes this even harder is what the emergency vet found: Sweets had a tumor the size of a baseball. It didn’t develop overnight — it had clearly been growing for some time. Sweets had previously been treated for cancer at this very clinic. How this possibility wasn’t their first concern when she showed signs of decline is something I can’t understand. Maybe the outcome would have been the same — but her suffering could have been spared.I’m heartbroken and angry.
Jun 13, 2025 · Rita DelgadoSuper kind technicians. They all took very good care of my Cooper and gave such thorough explanations for everything.4 stars only because no one mentioned the $56 cost for the check up that I was kindly scheduled for until the very last second before stepping outside.
Feb 08, 2025 · Leslie A. RomeroWas very disappointed when they wouldn't take my sisters dog who was dying to put her down. I also take my animals there but will not take them anymore. And Sweets was under their care for over a year and when we took her to be put down with another vet, he x rayed her and found a huge tumor. How did this vet miss this? Also the receptionist was condescending and had no empathy when we called. Extremely disappointed in this vet office.
Jun 12, 2025 · Rosemary DelgadoThis is one of the more transparent vets I have been to. I bring my three dogs here and the clinic always tries to find ways for me to save money (since 3 dogs can rack up a large vet bill!). They work with Chewy for my dogs' prescriptions which I appreciate. Vet Greene is kind, layed back, and educates owners in a respectful way (she never makes you feel dumb). This vet is a huge life saver when it comes to my lab's reoccuring infections from ichy skin. I am able to send pictures via email and Vet Greene prescribes what is needed with charging me for an appointment. I am poor so the option to email about issues has been invaluable. I highly recommend Somerset Animal Clinic.
