Choosing a veterinary hospital is a deeply personal decision that often comes down to trust, and it is important to consider all available information. VCA All Pets Animal Hospital in Lockport, IL, offers a robust and comprehensive range of services that make it a compelling choice for many pet owners. For those with both traditional pets and exotic animals, the convenience of a single, well-equipped hospital that can cater to all their needs is a significant advantage. The availability of advanced surgical techniques and emergency care also provides peace of mind, knowing that the hospital is prepared for a wide array of health challenges.
However, it is crucial to consider the full picture. The reviews provided highlight a duality in the client experience. On one hand, there is a glowing endorsement from a long-time client who has been with the hospital for over two decades, praising the "highest level of care" and the team's excellence. This speaks to a strong, consistent, and positive relationship that many clients can build with the staff over time. On the other hand, a highly negative review details a deeply upsetting and unprofessional experience, raising concerns about ethical practices, aggressive sales tactics, and a lack of empathy from a specific practitioner.
This discrepancy underscores a vital point about large veterinary practices: while the services and technology may be standardized, the individual experience can vary greatly depending on the specific veterinarian and staff members you interact with. It suggests that while the hospital as a whole may have a long-standing reputation for quality care, as seen in the positive review, it is essential for new clients to be proactive. It is worth choosing VCA All Pets Animal Hospital for its extensive services, particularly the rare exotic animal care and advanced surgical options. However, it is also worth approaching with an open mind and a willingness to communicate any concerns upfront. Ultimately, a successful and trusting relationship with a veterinary provider is paramount, and it is a bond that, for many, is built over time and through consistently positive interactions.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was too upset after my puppy's appointment to write a review, but now, two years later, I'm still angry about it - so here it is.My husband and I took our new English Bull Terrier puppy there for his first check up. Before the vet even acknowledged our puppy, he was trying to get us to purchase the prescription/health plan. When he finally examined him, the vet told us that his puppy teeth were growing in badly and that we should return him to the breeder. He said, if we didn't, he'd need a lot of expensive dental surgery (he recommended someone) but that it'd be better if we gave him up. He was very clear about his dislike of "bully breeds" (our insurance would go up, they're prone to biting, he said). We left brokenhearted.A week later, we took him to a different practice. They said he was perfectly fine. Two years later, we still have a happy, healthy dog.Not only would I not recommend this practice, I would actively discourage anyone thinking about it.
May 27 · Sue BradleyWe have been taking our cats to All Pets for over 20 years. There is no greater team of vets and staff in this area. Everyone there provides the highest level of care. Highly recommended!
May 21 · Bob SternHorrible experience when I brought my healthy puppy french bulldog to this vet a couple months ago. Veterinarian Vince Staniskis made my experience horrendous, as I felt he was trying to sell me everything under the sun. He had zero bedside manner and I felt as if this was all just a sales transaction to him. I did not feel comfortable with this vet at all and will never return.
May 06 · Maria HerreraI was so nervous to take my little sweetheart to the vet, she’s very shy around people she doesn’t know and hates being carried. Just getting her in the carrier was so difficult, I didn’t know how she would respond to being at the vet. I was so pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Due to Covid, you call once you arrive to check in, then they call you back and allow one person to bring the pet in for the appointment. The staff was so friendly and welcoming and made me feel like I have the cutest cat to ever grace this planet lol. The nurse was so kind that even my socially awkward cat warmed up to her so quickly. The doctor seem to have genuine concern and really cared for the well-being of my pet, he made excellent recommendations and urged me to follow up or give him a call if I had any questions.I had a great experience and received excellent service! I thought she deserved a Puppuccino!
March 30 · Manar DaghashWe’ve been trying to get our two year old French Bulldog spayed for a year, but unfortunately had to put off setting up an appointment due to severe allergies and inconvenient timing of heat cycles. During that time, I carefully researched the perfect place to take our sweet girl and received so many recommendations for Dr. Navin, who is known as the “Bulldog specialist” in my French bulldog group. Going into our appointment, we were very nervous, but had very high hopes that all would go well. While I wish we would have been updated regarding our dogs place in the surgery schedule (very nervous dog parents here), we are very happy with the results of her spay, vulvoplasty, and nares. The only thing I was a bit upset about was having to listen to my dog squeal as they attempted to remove her from the cage to bring her to us at pickup; considering how much noise she was making and how long it took for her to come out, I wish we would have had the opportunity to grab her ourselves as I am positive it would have been less traumatic and frustrating for both the staff and our dog. Overall, I am very satisfied with Dr. Navin’s work, the front staff were great, LOVED the technician who got us checked in prior to her spay and discharge instructions were very well communicated. I absolutely recommend Dr. Navin’s work to any brachycephalic parents out there who are struggling to feel comfortable setting a surgery date for their fur babies. Everyone was so knowledgeable on the protocols for bulldog breeds from the very first phone arrangement. Thank you Dr. Navin and VCA staff for taking care of our girl!
