VCA Southern Tier Animal Hospital Reviews
I don't usually leave poor reviews but I am today. My dog had an ear infection. A simple fix. Almost $400 later we left and I was the one who felt sick! This was NOT an emergency visit. I'm from Long Island which is super expensive and the most I ever paid for an ear infection was $250!!. I will say they WERE nice and caring. They did refuse to give a paper script which left us paying OVER $100 for her meds which we could have gotten for $12. I will never be going back again. It's real sad that they've lost a new customer. I would have been a good one since I am very into my animals care.
Jun 07, 2025 · Harry Donlonunfortunately, in areas like Binghamton, NY, vet clinics often mark up prices on prescriptions unless you specifically request to take the script elsewhere. Here’s how to push back while still doing right by your dog:*Ask for a Written Prescription*You have the legal right to request a written prescription and fill it elsewhere — just like with human medications.Say something like:“We’d prefer to fill this medication through an outside pharmacy. Can you please write us a prescription?”Most states, including New York, require vets to comply unless it’s a controlled substance. Unfortunately I'm compelled to leave this review due to their prices. I paid $41 for 30 days in SC, where as here they're charging $50 for 15 days. But the customer service here was excellent, 5 stars, the girls were so nice to my dog, and myself.
Jun 07, 2025 · EricI love being able to make online appointments, the staff are very friendly, and knowledgeable. They helped us resolve a chronic issue with one of our cats that had been missed by other veterinarians. A clean and comfortable business.
Apr 08, 2025 · Liza PerryVCA has been amazing since I moved to the area. I worked with Leighanne and Dr. Tataryn and they both made me and my dog feel heard and respected. They did everything they could to work with my budget as well which I am grateful for.
Oct 03, 2024 · Corey Ross-RobertsonI had my dog in there earlier this week and I just had the worst experience. My kids even noticed how we were treated. My dog hurt her leg and we didn’t know if it was broken or what not. We brought her to VCA because we got an appt and we just felt very judged. They were wanting 1200-1500 for an X-ray and I can’t afford that unfortunately. It just wasn’t a good experience. The only good interaction was the call back today with Jen I believe her name is at the front desk who seemed compassionate.
