Choosing a veterinary hospital, especially for emergency and specialty care, is a decision that requires immense trust. For California residents, VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley is a worthy choice for a number of compelling reasons, particularly for critical and complex situations. The most significant advantage is their status as a dedicated specialty and emergency facility. This is not a general practice that also handles emergencies; it is a full-fledged animal hospital with the staff, equipment, and expertise to handle the most severe health issues. The customer review about the Boston Terrier with a ruptured eye ulcer perfectly illustrates this. The owner praised the emergency team for taking them in "immediately" and providing compassionate, professional care. While the cost was high, as is typical for emergency services, the peace of mind knowing their pet received expert, life-saving care was invaluable.
While some reviews do express concerns about wait times and cost, these points are often inherent to the nature of emergency and specialty care. The negative review about the long wait, for example, mentions that the lobby filled up, which is a common occurrence in emergency rooms as they triage and prioritize the most critical cases. The fact that the hospital "seemed not to want me to stay" could be interpreted as them being overwhelmed but still trying to manage a high-demand situation during a shift change. This highlights the challenging environment of emergency veterinary medicine. The fact that they handle critical cases is a testament to their purpose.
In conclusion, VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley is not intended for routine, non-urgent visits but for when your pet truly needs a specialist's attention. Their comprehensive range of services, including advanced imaging, complex surgeries, and oncology, means that pets with serious conditions have access to top-tier care without the need for multiple referrals to different facilities. For a true pet emergency or a diagnosis requiring specialized treatment, the professionalism, expertise, and advanced capabilities of VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley make it a trusted and highly recommended choice for pet owners across Southern California.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had to rush our 2.5-year-old Boston Terrier to VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley + Emergency Service after an ulcer in his eye suddenly ruptured. Their emergency team took us in immediately and cared for him with compassion and professionalism.Although the visit was quite expensive (as most emergency vet visits are), we’re grateful they were there when we needed them most. The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and kept us updated throughout the process.I did request that they trim all his nails while he was under anesthesia. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to learn they only managed to trim three paws, which suggests they tried while he was awake and he resisted. This is why I asked multiple times for it to be done while he was fully sedated.Overall, thank you for taking such good care of our pup when he needed it most. I highly recommend them if you ever face a pet emergency.
July 09 · Richard NaimyFriendly but didn't seem interested in treating my pet. Checked in early with no pets in lobby and was told switch over time from night to day so 3 hour or so wait because the doctor had to exam the pets already there. After an hour and a half of waiting in exam room I left took my pet elsewhere where she received fluids and a shot and got excellent care. They seemed not to want me to stay. When I left the lobby was full. How they are going to service all the pets is beyond me. They were closed down awhile back wonder if poor service and pet care had anything to do with it. I would try somewhere else before going to this place. Unfortunate because they are close by.
July 15 · Jennifer JonesWe brought our dog to this hospital last night. He had four seizures and past away peacefully this morning. The staff where all helpful, professional and compassionate. He received excellent care at reasonable prices. Thanks to all the staff.
May 28 · Craig MuhlmeyerThe friendliest veterinary hospital I have been to. Very clean facilities and offer coffee while you are waiting. Took great care of Tessi
March 25 · Michael Z. KayeAll they want is money. No compassion. I would have received better assistance if I walked into a McDonald's and asked them to help my dog. I only went here because it's one of the only oncology vets nearby. I was still going to go back after paying almost $2k for an infusion because my dog couldn't start chemo yet. When I called a few days later and asked the doctor to please start Laverdia to tied us over until we could start chemo, they wanted me to come in and pay even more money to dispense the medications when it's an at-home medication to dispense. They wanted me to pay for more blood tests and another UA when she had just had them done 10 days prior at our primary vet. Despite my better judgment I was still going to go here when her biopsy wound healed to start chemo but now NO WAY. I called to ask the doctor a question and they told me my dog isn't his patient because I went back to our primary vet to get the bridge medication so I can SAVE HER LIFE before she could start the chemo. Unless you have hundreds of thousands of dollars and don't care how you are treated, go here. If you want compassion, empathy, and not to be financially raped then tossed out, stay away. I will be getting her chemo injection treatment elsewhere now when she can start. You guys just lost a ton of money you could have squeezed out of me but good riddance. Horrible place. Even the experience going there left me in tears in the parking lot calling my regular vet telling them to just put my dog down because I was so discouraged and felt the darkest energy from this place. If you love your pet, like LOVE your baby, go someplace else. I don't even want to give them 1 star. Couldn't even answer my question after giving money for an injection I'm not even sure she received. Just because I needed to start working with my primary vet in the interim. This place disgusts me.
