I'm glad to have been able to get the 3-year rabies vaccine for our cats, and at very short notice. The online scheduling flexibility was essential, since there was a wreck on 66 (as we headed out!), which meant re-routing and potentially adding to trip time. I think were told - incorrectly, though - that the 3-yr Vanguard vaccine used *wasn't* adjuvanted, since only the Purevax is truly non-adjuvanted. However, time was of the essence; and it's better for us to get our semi-feral vaccinated as infrequenlty as possible as he's difficult to corral in a carrier. Good job to the vet and vet tech, too, for working with a cat that can't have eye contact...and believing us when we said 'cover his head and he'll be ok." Vetco clinics are a good choice when we need vaccinations, but can't wait for the regular vet to have appointment availability. - Birdie O'Hara

### Essential Preventative Services Offered

Vetco Vaccination Clinic focuses on providing core preventative veterinary services to keep your pets healthy and protected. While they do not offer full-service veterinary care, their specialized approach ensures efficient and effective delivery of these vital treatments. Their primary services typically include:

  • Vaccinations: A cornerstone of their offerings, Vetco provides a wide range of essential vaccinations for both dogs and cats. This includes legally required rabies vaccines (often available in 1-year and 3-year options, depending on state and county regulations and previous vaccination history), as well as core distemper/parvovirus combinations for dogs and feline viral rhinotracheitis/calicivirus/panleukopenia (FVRCP) for cats. They also offer other important vaccines like Bordetella for dogs and Feline Leukemia for cats, based on lifestyle and risk assessment.
  • Microchipping: A crucial service for pet safety, microchipping provides permanent identification for your pet, significantly increasing the chances of their safe return if they ever get lost.
  • Heartworm Prevention: Vetco offers testing for heartworm disease and can provide prescription heartworm prevention medication. This is a year-round necessity in many areas, including Virginia, to protect pets from this serious parasitic condition.
  • Flea and Tick Prevention: They also provide options for flea and tick prevention, helping to protect pets from these common external parasites and the diseases they can transmit.
  • Intestinal Parasite Screening: This involves analyzing a fecal sample to detect common internal parasites like roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms, which are important to treat for both pet health and public health.
  • Basic Wellness Checks: While not a full physical exam, the veterinarians at Vetco clinics will perform a basic vitals check and assess your pet's general health during the visit to determine suitability for vaccinations and other preventative treatments.

These targeted services make Vetco a go-to resource for routine preventative care, allowing pet owners to maintain their pets' health without the need for a comprehensive vet visit if their pet is otherwise healthy.

### Key Features and Highlights of Vetco Vaccination Clinic

Vetco Vaccination Clinic distinguishes itself through several features that enhance the pet care experience for Virginia residents:

  • Affordable & Transparent Pricing: One of the most significant advantages is their commitment to low-cost services with transparent pricing. Unlike some traditional veterinary clinics, Vetco often eliminates separate "exam fees" for vaccination visits, meaning pet owners typically only pay for the specific vaccinations and preventative products administered. This helps make essential care more accessible to a wider range of budgets.
  • Online Scheduling Flexibility: Customer reviews highlight the convenience of online scheduling. This flexibility is crucial for busy pet owners, allowing them to book appointments that fit their schedule, even at short notice, and adapt to unforeseen circumstances like traffic or other delays.
  • Efficient and Quick Visits: Vetco clinics are designed for efficiency. While there might occasionally be wait times, the overall process for vaccinations is often quicker than a typical full-service vet appointment, making it ideal for routine preventative care.
  • Experienced and Personable Staff: Feedback indicates that the doctors and staff are generally personable, wonderful, and thorough. They demonstrate professionalism and a willingness to work with pets of varying temperaments, including those that are semi-feral or require special handling, ensuring a less stressful experience for the animal.
  • Focus on Vaccinations: Their specialization in vaccinations and preventative care means they are highly efficient and knowledgeable in this area, providing focused expertise without the overhead of a general practice.
  • 3-Year Rabies Vaccine Availability: For cats and dogs eligible under state and county laws, the availability of a 3-year rabies vaccine is a notable benefit. This reduces the frequency of visits, which is particularly helpful for pets that are difficult to transport or handle for veterinary procedures.

These combined features make Vetco Vaccination Clinic a practical and compassionate choice for preventative pet care in Sterling, VA.
