Veterinary Alternatives Centerville specializes in holistic and alternative treatments, often complementing conventional veterinary medicine to provide comprehensive care. Their services are particularly geared towards improving comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life, especially for aging pets or those suffering from chronic pain. Based on the provided customer reviews, their key services include:
- Acupuncture for Pets: This is a core service, profoundly impacting pets with mobility issues and pain. A client's testimony highlights how acupuncture, combined with laser therapy, transformed their 15-year-old cat Ozzy, who developed severe arthritis, from "hobbling" to "galloping again and climbing the stairs." This non-pharmacological approach offers significant pain relief and improved function.
- Laser Therapy: Often used in conjunction with acupuncture, laser therapy is another key modality offered. It aids in pain reduction, inflammation control, and tissue healing, contributing significantly to improved mobility and comfort, as seen with Ozzy the cat.
- Senior Pet Care and Mobility Support: The clinic excels in helping "aging lab maintain a bit more comfort and mobility." Their expertise is particularly valuable for older pets experiencing conditions like arthritis, providing solutions to enhance their quality of life and reduce pain.
- Pain Management: Their alternative therapies are highly effective in managing chronic pain, offering relief without solely relying on traditional medications. The focus is on providing "low or no pain" for the animals they treat.
- Integrative Veterinary Medicine: While not explicitly stated, the combination of alternative therapies with the implied understanding of traditional veterinary diagnoses suggests an integrative approach, working to complement conventional care pathways.
- Wellness and Spiritual Restoration for Owners: Beyond just treating the animal, the atmosphere and care provided have a positive effect on pet owners. As one client mentioned, they "leave somehow spiritually restored" themselves, indicating the holistic care extends to the human element of the pet-owner bond.
Veterinary Alternatives Centerville is distinguished by several unique features and highlights that set it apart in the Ohio veterinary landscape. These attributes, consistently praised by clients, underscore their innovative approach and profound impact on pet well-being.

Clients consistently describe her as "truly the most compassionate and kind veterinarian I’ve ever encountered." This deep empathy is critical when dealing with pets in pain or facing chronic conditions, creating a comforting and supportive environment for both the animal and their owner.

The "profound" change in his mobility, from hobbling to galloping and climbing stairs, demonstrates the significant and tangible improvements achieved through their acupuncture and laser therapy protocols. This goes beyond simple pain management to truly restoring quality of life.
- Holistic Approach and Unique Energy: The clinic's "energy and vibes" are described as "unmatched." This suggests a serene, calming, and positive environment that contributes to the healing process. It speaks to a holistic approach that considers the overall well-being of the animal, not just the physical symptoms.
- Non-Placebo Effect with Tangible Results: The client's explicit mention of "Impossible to have a placebo effect" reinforces the genuine efficacy of their treatments. This provides strong validation for the alternative therapies offered, proving their real physiological benefits.
- Long-Term Mobility Maintenance: The fact that Ozzy maintains his mobility with regular acupuncture sessions (every 4 to 6 weeks) highlights the clinic's ability to provide long-term solutions for chronic conditions, ensuring sustained comfort and activity for aging or arthritic pets.
- Restorative Experience for Pet Owners: Uniquely, clients report feeling "spiritually restored" after visits. This indicates that the clinic offers not just medical treatment but also emotional support and a positive atmosphere that positively impacts the human side of the pet care equation.

Veterinary Alternatives Centerville Reviews
Dr. Juli is truly the most compassionate and kind veterinarian I’ve ever encountered. I come regularly to help our aging lab maintain a bit more comfort and mobility but I leave somehow spiritually restored myself. The energy and vibes of the whole staff are unmatched.
Mar 05, 2025 · Shannon FinnI do not think that I could ever show or express fully the deep gratitude I have for Dr. Julie. My cat Ozzy is 15 years old with a three year old cat brain. He has always been active and athletic. Two years ago he developed arthritis in his spine and left knee. When he got up he didn’t walk, he hobbled. He was in pain. We don’t live close to Centerville so we tried a local vet who was an acupuncturist. That vet tried but there was no improvement. Then we booked with Dr. Julie. Ozzy had acupuncture along with laser therapy and the change in his mobility was profound…literally profound. He not only could walk but started to gallop again and climb the stairs to the second floor. Impossible to have a placebo effect. Ozzy maintains his mobility by getting acupuncture every 4 to 6 weeks. Dr. Julie has given the biggest gifts to Ozzy (and me)…….quality of life, mobility and obviously low or no pain. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Nov 19, 2024 · Julie JulieDr Julie is one of the most thoughtful, skilled Veterinarians in our area. We are so fortunate to have her and her team here!! I have learned more about rehab from her then anyone else and she has made a huge difference in my performance dog!
Aug 01, 2023 · Sherri SwabbEight months post-op for his ACL surgery, our dog started limping again, and we were very worried. Having never tried veterinary alternative medicine before, we were a bit hesitant, but it turned out to make a significant difference in our dog's recovery. We are incredibly grateful for the care our dog has received during his treadmill appointments with Cathy and the exceptional patient care from Dr. Julie. The therapy here has been transformative, and we only wish we’d started sooner! Cathy is also a joy to talk to during the 30 minute sessions :) Highly recommend their dedicated and compassionate team.
Oct 28, 2024 · Sarah WynkoopWonderful, absolutely wonderful! I have a 7 month old exotic short hair that was born with a genetic defect of her hind legs. She's unable to walk but I'm optimistic that Dr. Julie can help! This is the first time I've tried alternative medicine but I'm willing to try anything to give her the best quality of life! I would recommend this hospital for any pet that needs a little extra care!
