We love going to VMS in Lugoff, however our visit this morning was disappointing due to the fact that we were charged 3% for using a debit card, this amount was $18.00, the banks DO NOT charge the vendor a fee when you use a debit card, therefore it seems unfair to charge the customer a fee. I know more and more vendors are adding a fee but in our opinion it is not justified. - Pauline Booth

Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (VMS) distinguishes itself through several key features and highlights that consistently earn it high praise and loyalty from its clientele. These aspects underscore their commitment to medical excellence and compassionate patient care.

  • AAHA Accreditation: VMS has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1997. This is a significant highlight as AAHA-accredited hospitals voluntarily meet the highest standards in veterinary care, covering everything from facilities and equipment to patient care and pain management. This accreditation signifies a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional and Compassionate Staff: Numerous client testimonials consistently laud the entire staff for being "amazing" and loving on their pets. The feedback highlights that pets are made "as comfortable as possible," demonstrating a genuine care that extends beyond just medical treatment. The team's ability to be "phenomenal" even through stressful situations like surgery and biopsies speaks volumes about their dedication.
  • Highly Skilled Veterinarians: Veterinarians like Dr. Baier are singled out for being "great at her job" and showing deep affection for the animals. The collective expertise of veterinarians like Dr. Brian Spilker, Dr. Brooke Jamboretz, and Dr. Nicole Clementson, ensures a high level of medical competence.
  • Integrative Medicine Approach: A unique highlight is their offering of integrative medicine, blending traditional treatments with alternative therapies like acupuncture, herbal medicine, BEMER Pro, and Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM). This holistic approach provides additional options for pets, especially when traditional methods may not be sufficient for conditions like arthritis or hip dysplasia.
  • Strong Trust and Loyalty: Clients express profound trust in VMS, stating, "We wouldn't want to bring him anywhere else." This level of loyalty, built over years of consistent positive experiences, including major procedures like surgery, indicates a deeply valued relationship between the clinic and its client base.
  • Comprehensive Care for All Stages: Their wide range of services, from routine wellness checks to advanced surgery and specialized integrative therapies, means they can provide continuous care for pets throughout their lives, from puppyhood through their senior years.
  • Focus on Pet Comfort: The emphasis on making pets "as comfortable as possible" during visits and procedures is a critical aspect, especially for anxious or ailing animals. This attention to comfort helps reduce stress for both pets and their owners.

One aspect noted in a review, concerning a 3% debit card fee, suggests a policy that some clients might find unexpected. While the hospital lists "Credit / Debit" as accepted payment forms, this specific feedback indicates a transaction fee. Clients might want to clarify payment policies directly with VMS beforehand to avoid any surprises, as payment is generally due at the time services are performed. They do, however, offer financial solutions like CareCredit and accept pet insurance to help manage costs.
