What is worth choosing
For pet owners in Baltimore and Towson, Vinson Animal Hospital is an outstanding choice for veterinary care, offering a blend of high-level medical expertise and deep-seated compassion. One of the most compelling reasons to choose this hospital is the trust that clients place in the veterinarians and staff. The story of the Boston Terrier with a fractured leg perfectly illustrates this. Rather than immediately opting for a costly surgery, Dr. Julia Smith provided a professional second opinion, recommending a more conservative and effective treatment. This demonstrates not only the doctors' extensive knowledge but also their ethical practice and genuine concern for both the pet's well-being and the owner's financial situation.
The hospital also excels at managing the emotional side of pet care. As one owner of an anxious dog, Honey, described, Dr. Kakel and the staff made a significant effort to accommodate her pet's worries, turning a stressful experience into a positive one. This focus on a "fear-free" or low-stress approach is a critical factor for many pet owners who want their animals to feel safe and comfortable during a vet visit. It shows a deep understanding of animal behavior and a commitment to creating a gentle environment.
Finally, Vinson Animal Hospital provides comprehensive and continuous care. From routine annual exams and vaccinations to advanced surgical procedures and end-of-life hospice care, they can serve as a long-term partner in your pet’s health journey. Their willingness to handle urgent cases and their collaboration with local specialists for more complex needs means you can rest assured that your pet is in excellent hands, no matter the situation. The combination of their long history, advanced medical capabilities, and compassionate, client-focused approach makes Vinson Animal Hospital a truly worthy choice for pet care in Maryland.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Our almost one-year-old Boston Terrier somehow fractured his leg. We had our local vet take the initial look but they wanted us to see an orthopedic surgeon for $5k plus emergency visit since they didn't have any openings. We wanted a second opinion and drove 2.5 hours to see Dr Julia Smith. So glad we did. She recommended a splint and calm rest. She and the entire staff were wonderful with our dog (and us). We respect her professionalism and will be making this long trip every 1-2 weeks for a while. If you need a vet in the Towson area, I'd highly recommend Vinson Animal Hospital.
July 14 · Tim UpdegroveGreat experience with my dog Honey! As honey has gotten older, going to the vet gives her a lot of anxiety. We were recommended here and cannot say enough great things.Dr Kakel did an amazing job accommodating my dog’s worries and making it easy for everyone.
June 16 · Henry GeorgeThey provide excellent care here for furry friends. Dr. Smith and Dr. Kakel are very kind and professional. My mom brought both my fur brothers here for care, so when I became a first time cat mom recently, I was already familiar with Vinsons and felt confident of having them as a primary vet for my girl.
May 23 · Gemini GemThey were very professional when handling my little diva Figgo. They were quick and gentle with him despite him struggling.
July 15 · Brian AnshenHad my first visit with my 9 yr old puppy. Excellent, efficient, pleasant and helpful reception team. Dr Smith is compassionate, interested and dedicated. I highly recommend.
