Choosing a veterinary hospital is a critical decision that involves balancing a number of factors, including the range of services, accessibility, and the quality of care and communication from the staff. Banfield Pet Hospital in Naperville, IL, presents a model of veterinary care that is structured and designed for convenience and comprehensive coverage.
While some pet owners may prefer a more traditional, small-town clinic feel, Banfield's corporate structure allows for a standardized approach to care and access to a broad range of services and wellness plans that can be particularly beneficial for managing the ongoing costs of pet ownership. The consistency of care across Banfield locations can also be a significant benefit for people who move or travel with their pets within the Banfield network.
The professional and courteous nature of the staff, as highlighted by a customer review about their "well visit" for an 8-year-old Golden Doodle, indicates a positive experience where the staff is friendly, communicative, and does not engage in unnecessary up-selling. This focus on ethical and transparent care is a significant reason why many pet owners choose Banfield. Their commitment to providing updates throughout an animal's stay, as noted in the positive review, helps build trust and ensures pet owners feel informed and involved in their pet’s treatment.
However, it is also important to note that, as with any large organization, there can be inconsistencies. The provided negative review points to serious concerns about communication and professional conduct by some staff members. This highlights the importance of individual experiences and the relationship between a pet owner and the specific team they interact with. For this reason, prospective clients are always encouraged to visit the clinic, meet the staff, and ask questions to ensure it is the right fit for their pet’s needs. Ultimately, the worth of choosing Banfield lies in its ability to offer a broad scope of services and its structured, preventative-focused care model, which provides a reliable framework for managing your pet's health in a proactive way.

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I don’t usually leave reviews but this place is very unprofessional. I called with a concern about my puppy, the receptionist hung up in my face after I asked to speak to a nurse or Doctor. I called back and the practitioner took the call this time. I made her aware of the receptionist hanging up on me, after she brushed off my complaint I attempted to tell her my concern but the practitioner was more concerned with my “tone” and not very concerned with the issue regarding my pet. She constantly accused me of yelling at her, even after I explained to her that I’m not yelling at her, I’m just a loud talker. She wouldn’t hear it, she wouldn’t accept my own explanation that I’m NOT yelling I’m concerned about my puppy. The secretary and the practitioner there had no concern regarding the pet! The patient! They were only concerned with their own personal feelings instead of remaining professional and making sure the patient is ok. The staff, at least the 2 I spoke with today failed to hold themselves to a higher standard and made a gross representation of Banfield Pet Hospital. You are regarded as professional and trusted and should always practice this standard. No excuses!
August 11 · Juston LucasWell visit for my 8 yr old Golden doodle was managed well by Vet, tech and front office staff. Courteous and friendly staff. No up-sell of treatments or products. Updates through out the 6-hour stay.
August 22 · Asha TuluvaIf I could give this place 0 stars I would. When I moved to the area, I needed to establish care for my cat and get prescription food. I made an appointment and warned several people when I made the appointment that my cat would need to be sedated for examination. I also warned them when I dropped him off. Other vets have not had an issue and I said I would pay whatever costs associated with the sedation. They ignored me completely. Didn’t even take him out of his kennel and left him there all day. He urinated on himself in his kennel and they did nothing. They didn’t even warn me about it. They claimed the vet had an emergency and couldn’t see my cat. After their apology I made another appointment because I was in dire need of the prescription food at this point, they did it again! Claimed they couldn’t get him out of the kennel because he was aggressive (which I warned them about and said he would need sedation). They left him in the kennel another 6 hours and didn’t even bother to call and have me pick him up early because they couldn’t examine him. Again he urinated due to stress and they did nothing. I would avoid this place!
March 31 · Laura BambrickAfter continued dissatisfaction and disappointment with this vet I finally am leaving a review. Don’t recommend and definitely don’t recommend their wellness plans. Invest that in good insurance or set it aside. I am still spending money at every other visit and I’d rather go to a reputable veterinarian for the money spent.
July 23 · Nidya DiazGizmo had a great day at the vet today with the Banfield staff! They are always so patient with our excited and rambunctious pup!
