Banfield Pet Hospital provides a broad spectrum of veterinary services, with a strong emphasis on preventive care through their Optimum Wellness Plans. These plans are designed to make routine health maintenance more predictable and affordable. While specific services may vary slightly by location and individual pet needs, the Apex Banfield generally offers a comprehensive range of veterinary care. Key services typically include:
- Optimum Wellness Plans (OWPs): These are customizable preventive care packages for puppies, kittens, and adult dogs and cats. OWPs typically include unlimited office visits, two comprehensive exams per year, routine vaccinations (including rabies, distemper/parvo, leptospirosis, Lyme, bordetella for dogs; rabies, feline leukemia, parvovirus for cats), fecal exams, deworming, and discounts on other Banfield products and services (ranging from 5% to 20% depending on the plan). Some higher-tier plans may also include dental cleanings, additional diagnostic testing (like advanced kidney testing and heart tests), and radiographs.
- General Veterinary Services: Beyond the wellness plans, Banfield offers core veterinary services such as comprehensive physical exams, diagnosis and treatment of various illnesses and injuries, and nutritional advice.
- Diagnostic and Imaging Services: They utilize methods to help diagnose and treat pet illnesses, including in-house lab work for blood tests, and radiology (X-rays) to assess internal structures. Some advanced diagnostic tests for early disease detection are often included in higher-tier OWPs.
- Surgical Procedures: Banfield Pet Hospital offers standard surgical services, including routine spays and neuters. Some locations may also perform soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, though specific availability should be confirmed with the Apex location directly.
- Veterinary Dentistry: Professional dental cleanings are offered to support oral health, and many locations also perform dental extractions and other oral surgery procedures. A professional dental cleaning under anesthesia is included in some higher-tier OWPs.
- Microchipping: This essential service provides permanent identification for pets, greatly increasing the chances of reunification if a pet gets lost.
- Pharmacy Services: Clients can conveniently pick up many pet medications directly at the hospital.
- Medical Grooming: For pets with specific dermatological needs, medical grooming services are available.
- End-of-Life Services: When the time comes, compassionate end-of-life care, including in-office euthanasia, is offered.
- Exotic Pet Care: Some Banfield locations, including potentially Apex, offer care for rabbits, rodents, small mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, though it's always best to call and confirm availability for specific exotic species.
- Virtual Visits & Vet Chat™: Many OWPs include access to virtual appointments and 24/7 unlimited chats with a credentialed veterinary professional through Pet Chat™, offering convenient advice and support.

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
I'm beyond frustrated with the staff and doctors at this Banfield location. Compassion seems to be completely absent from their vocabulary. The new front desk staff is consistently rude, and their customer service is non-existent.I called for a prescription refill for a drug my pet has been taking for years and even though they said it would be ready the next day, when I arrived to pick it up, it wasn’t ready and the front desk person said there is nothing he can’t do. This kind of disorganization happens too often. They just can't seem to get their staff together. Every time I have an appointment, I get the distinct feeling they're more interested in pushing additional tests or services rather than genuinely caring for my pet's well-being.I had my pet on the wellness program for many years, but this office made me cancel the subscription. To add to the frustration, canceling the wellness plan is a nightmare. You can be on the phone for hours just to connect with someone who will read you endless guidelines before finally canceling it.Please, do your due diligence and research prices if you think you're getting a good deal here. I truly feel my pet is better off somewhere else.
Jan 21, 2025 · Ingrid GonzalezI’m overly frustrated and upset at the lack of caring from this office. We unfortunately brought our dog in to this location for x-rays to determine if she was going to need surgery. I tried for 3 days to get them to send me the x-rays. It took 4 phone calls and dealing with super unfriendly, unhelpful front desk staff before I finally got somebody to send me the images. I was told they would pass out information to the surgeon to get in contact with us about the next steps and they never contacted the surgeon. It has now been a week and a half and the surgeon is still waiting for the necessary information from this office to proceed. It’s very disappointing to have people working in this field with such little compassion or caring for animals. Definitely wouldn’t consider ever going to this location again.
Feb 20, 2025 · Kelley MillenEver since I adopted my pup, I have always came to this location and I have NEVER had a problem until yesterday 05/12/25.I’m so disappointed with how UNPROFESSIONAL the front desk AND veterinarian, Dr. Krueger was. I was pushed into doing X-rays, which I was very hesitant about, but did anyway. However, I did not anticipate that my pup would need surgery. I was getting calls back to back but I was quite busy at work so it was really difficult to answer or even think properly while under stress from the news and they continuously pushed the surgery down my throat. I was NEVER given updates or the option to look into other hospitals (like I said I was busy). I wanted to know how bad the damage was and I asked for updates, but somehow NO ONE could give a clear answer?!?! I obviously wanted to know the severity of the situation and why my ONLY option was surgery, you know? I genuinely could not afford it knowing the situation im currently in.I was offered to apply to care credit and HOPE fund, which I did. I turned in the paperwork BEFORE surgery had begun in hopes to qualify and I kept asking if they could see my paperwork to the vet and front desk over the phone and they ignored my question and only asked if the surgery is happening or not. I was informed of the cost but I think I misunderstood and did not know I would pay 1.2k UP FRONT. Maybe I did not hear right over the phone. I get there for pick up and the Aryn Krueger was SO RUDE. Talking with her hands, tossing her shoulders up and down, speaking passive aggressively…instead of trying to support us and give us options for forms of payment. I ask AGAIN about the hope fund and they said they never applied for us and it was too late so they’d try again tomorrow.
May 13, 2025 · jocelyn martinezI really hate giving a review but for the last week or so it hasn’t sit right with me how things were done when I brought my dog there. I first wanna say everyone was really nice (besides the front desk that could use some training).I was told my visit was going to be free and I had a really hard time ensuring that would happen. I had to present my coupon over and over again, although I made the appointment through the website using the actual coupon.I decided to add on a trim for my dogs nails.Immediately, I noticed the paw was bleeding, which absolutely did not happen before I went there. They tried to pass it off as somehow it was already like that, and I even got charged for one single pill of antibiotics to ensure my dog wouldn’t get an infection.I won’t be returning because I did call to express my disappointment, and I was told by the manager that they would talk about it.It’s didn’t sit well with me that nothing really was done and it didn’t really seem like they cared. It’s such a shame because like I said, everyone was very nice. I just think that they should’ve owned up to this because I am positive. My dog did not go there with a bleeding toenail before they cut his nails.
Jan 16, 2025 · J JeanKind and compassionate. They detected a heart murmur with one of my kitties and got us in to a specialist quickly. Appointments are easy to get. Been going here for years!
