This approach is evident in the positive experiences shared by local customers. One pet owner, who has brought four of their animals to the clinic, described the staff as "kind, funny, friendly, all around wonderful people." They noted how even their pets, who typically dislike vet visits, felt a little less nervous. The team’s gentle demeanor is particularly notable, with one veterinarian even scolding an owner for scolding their own skittish dog, telling them the dog "couldn't help being scared." This level of empathy showcases their deep understanding of animal behavior and their commitment to creating a safe and positive experience for every animal.

The hospital has also made accessibility a priority, providing a wheelchair-accessible parking lot and restroom to ensure that all pet owners can comfortably and safely bring their companions in for care. While appointments are recommended to help the staff manage their schedule and provide thorough care, the hospital also makes an effort to accommodate urgent care visits. As one client gratefully noted, they were able to get their pet "seen same day for an urgent care visit," when they were struggling to find a vet who would take them, including their own regular one. This willingness to go the extra mile for a pet in need is a defining feature of their service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Been to this vet for my 4 animals (2 cats, 2 dogs) a total of 3 visits thus far.I adore the staff. They care, they are kind, funny, friendly, all around wonderful people.3/4 of my pets hate going to the vet on principle alone. Even those 3 hate this place a little less.My male dog is talked to so sweetly while he shakes and poops on/near them out of nervousness. They're so gentle with my senior cat.My female dog is skittish with anyone who isn't me and I love that the vet who she nipped at scolded me for scolding her. He told me she was a tiny baby and couldn't help being scared. They made a great impression.Their website is also easy to use and you can schedule appointments on it.
August 24 · Bri KennedyI'm not one to write a lot of reviews but I feel Commencement Bay Animal Hospital deserves to be recognized. I have never been here before and they were able to get Oliver seen same day for an urgent care visit which I was struggling to get him seen by anyone, including his regular vet. Staff were very friendly. Dr. Moss was wonderful and took a lot of time to explain everything. Thank you very much for helping Oliver and for putting my mind at ease. Would highly recommend!
April 23 · Aaron Casey10 out of 5 stars, I’ve been to a LOT of vets over the years and this is by far the best experience. They were quick to get us in, accommodating when we had a family emergency and Dr. Moss was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t recommend this place more, wish I found them years ago.
May 23 · Max GrahamWe've had mostly great service here for 2 years but were let down at our last appointment. The new vet recommended x-rays and a cell test which we agreed to, thinking they would provide clarification on whether or not something was wrong with our dog. When we picked him up several hours later, the vet seemed distracted and essentially told us that the tests we spent $800+ on did not confirm/deny any issues with our dog and that more testing under sedation would be necessary. In the meantime, she recommended starting him on pain meds taken 2x/day and seemed to be guessing at what his needed dosage would be as the recommended amount of each pill kept flip flopping. We were not asked what we thought about a new medication. The "problems" she felt our dog has all focused on his back left leg, contradicting what we had said when bringing our dog to his appt (his back right leg intermittently limping). The x-rays supported that it is his right leg with smaller muscle mass, though the vet said it was his left that had smaller mass. I would not have known about this mistake if I did not request his records after we left - they were not provided in his discharge paperwork. I am disappointed in the care he received after spending so much money, and our dog came home terrified. It also seems like vets are not consistent here and are frequently leaving, which makes me uneasy constantly working with new vets who do not have a relationship with my dog.I understand everyone has "off" days, but I left feeling more unsure, scared, and frustrated. We will be looking elsewhere for future care.
March 03 · Emily KWBrought our puppy, Lola, in and had the best experience! The office was clean, there was clear communication about the appointment and the Dr took his time with us. I enjoyed not feeling rushed and that we were able to sit and talk about her diet and he gave a lot of recommendations for training her. Lola felt so comfortable there too.
