---## Services Offered
CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets specializes exclusively in veterinary cardiology, providing a full spectrum of advanced diagnostic, medical, and interventional services for dogs and cats with heart conditions. Their board-certified cardiologists are equipped to handle everything from routine heart murmur evaluations to complex heart failure management.
- Echocardiograms: This is the "gold standard" diagnostic test for heart conditions. CVCA performs thousands of these ultrasounds of the heart annually, providing immediate, precise imaging of heart structure and function. Owners are often welcome to be present during this non-invasive procedure.
- Electrocardiography (ECG): Records the electrical activity of the heart to diagnose rhythm abnormalities (arrhythmias) and assess heart rate.
- Thoracic Radiography (X-rays): Used to assess lung condition, identify fluid accumulation, and provide an outline of heart size and shape, often in conjunction with echocardiograms.
- Blood Pressure Measurement: Essential for diagnosing and managing hypertension, which can impact cardiac health.
- Cardiac Biomarkers/Lab Testing: Utilizing specialized blood tests to evaluate heart health, monitor disease progression, and guide treatment.
- Fluoroscopy: A "moving X-ray" that allows for real-time visualization of the heart, enabling procedures like balloon dilation for congenital defects or ductal occluders.
- Medical Management of Heart Disease: Developing comprehensive, personalized medication plans for conditions such as congestive heart failure (CHF), mitral valve disease, dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
- Interventional Cardiology Procedures: Minimally invasive procedures performed using catheters, such as pacemaker implantation for severe arrhythmias or surgical correction of congenital cardiac defects (e.g., patent ductus arteriosus).
- Pre-Anesthetic Consultations: Evaluating cardiac patients prior to other surgical procedures to assess anesthetic risk and develop a safe plan.
- Second Opinions: Providing expert evaluations and confirming diagnoses for pets referred from primary care veterinarians.
- Ongoing Research and Clinical Trials: Actively participating in cutting-edge cardiac drug trials and research, offering opportunities for patients to access advanced, experimental treatments.
- 24/7 Phone Availability for Vets: A cardiologist is available around the clock to assist emergency and primary care veterinarians with urgent patient needs.
- Detailed Follow-up and Communication: Ensuring consistent dialogue with pet owners and referring veterinarians, providing detailed summaries of diagnoses, recommendations, and treatment plans.

Jun 27, 2025 · JessicaThis is the second time we've taken scooter to cvca animal cardiac hospital and Dr Emily Seuss Radford was the one we saw who has taken care of him. The staff overall is very good John of technician is amazing and just wanted to say that through their care and dedication to Scooter's treatment his heart has improved the medicine he has been one have worked and has made him healthier even though he has COPD and mitral valve regurgitation and diabetes so he has a lot of medical issues. So anyone not sure I would say take them to cvca they are very very highly reputable and they answer all of your questions and you're allowed to go back in the back with your dog while the exam the echocardiogram and things are being done. I will say this they are probably the only veterinarian hospital / specialist that my dog at 11-year-old has seen that truly truly show that they like him and interact with him and he's not just another dollar sign. Way to go see VCA thank you for all your help and his scooters continue care.

Jun 13, 2025 · a fordDr.Holdt and her lovely technician were fabulous with our kitty who has a heart condition. We drove an hour to Leesburg and it was well worth the trip. They were so kind, compassionate, thorough and knowledgeable and I could go on and on and on about what a great experience we had there. They were very gentle with my kitty as opposed to other places and had so many good ideas. Really excellent, the best. My husband and I were so pleased with their treatment of us and the kitty, even though our kitty's prognosis is not good.
