- Veterinary DentistryDental health is a very important part of your pet’s overall health. Your pet’s teeth should be checked at least once a year by a veterinarian for early signs of a problem and to keep your pet’s mouth healthy.
- Veterinary Emergency and Urgent CareWe have a veterinarian and personnel on duty six days a week and a veterinarian on call seven days a week, all of which are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually, an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together.
- Veterinary Laser TherapyThe laser is applied directly to the surface of the skin, or it can be held just above the skin surface. A benefit of therapeutic laser therapy is that it is unnecessary to shave the fur in the treatment region. Treatment can be administered without discomfort or restraint.
- Veterinary PharmacyAt Elk Creek, we offer a full-service on-site pharmacy for the convenience of our clients. We carry a wide range of prescription and non-prescription medications, as well as supplements and preventatives. Almost anything that we don’t carry in the clinic can be found on our online store.
- Veterinary ProductsFleas and ticks carry diseases that can make your pet very sick. Fleas can multiply rapidly. We highly recommend purchasing flea/tick and heartworm prevention from your veterinarian. Some products sold at stores may carry a similar-looking product, but it may not be as effective!

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I'll try to make a long story somewhat short. I was visiting family in Sioux City and went to the city shelter to volunteer. I met a sweet dog at high risk. I decided to adopt him the next morning if I could get the required health certificate needed for him to fly in cargo later that day. (He was too large to fly in cabin). I called the minute they opened and asked to be squeezed in that morning. A health certificate and a very quick check up (basically, listening to heart) takes 10-15 minutes. It's a simple form, quick exam. The dog was young, healthy, had all shots. "We care for every pet like they're our own" is stated on their website. They refused to squeeze him in. This was life or death for a sweet, young dog, who had received no adoption prospects for months. Saving a dog's life, obviously, would have been too big of an inconvenience. Thanks Elk Creek Animal Hospital. If you treat every pet like they're your own, then I guess no animal is safe! As someone who runs a small cat rescue and spends time in various vet offices weekly where I live, I find this refusal to help an animal with no hope to be simply shameful. August 12 · Steph Mueller
- Everyone is always friendly and helpful. They answer any questions we have and are great with our pets. You can just tell they love their furry patients! June 12 · Dana Bueoy
- I have had Elk creek caring for my babies since I moved here in Nov 2019. The babies I moved here with have since crossed over the rainbow at Elk Creek. They treated them and us with the most respect and certain amount of love til the end. Now with my newly adopted baby Artemis was attacked by 2 dogs in my neighborhood. They took such great care of her and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Every time I either call or go in I am treated like family. That is so important to me so yes I would definitely refer anyone to them for furbaby care. July 26 · Rhonda King
- Couldn’t recommend Elk Creek enough. The staff is kind and professional. They answered all of our questions and kept us informed throughout our dog’s surgery. We are so grateful for them! July 14 · Shelby Small
- I have had two dogs with Akron Vet Clinic, one dog with the Vermillion Vet Clinic before it had new ownership. All three dogs were seen for the entirety of their long and wonderful lives. After our last two dogs passed, I decided to try out the new Vermillion vet clinic bc that is where I went to school/had worked. It was great there but the vets moved on and had suggested Elk Creek. We don’t typically have problems so I was fine with the 45 minute drive.Enter in dealing with our dog. She has had a lump on the right side of her neck for quite some time. It truly feels as if the staff and vets do not listen or hear what I am saying. My dog had a surgery scheduled for the lump finally - after no less than 4 total visits. It was brought up at a regularly scheduled wellness/vaccination appointment. Then again, after it reappeared. Then again, after it also returned and finally again just to take another look at it. At the 2nd appointment it was stated surgery would be the next step. When I called at the 3rd appointment to set this up, the vet needed to take another look which truly felt as if it was unnecessary.Got it scheduled finally. My dog had 3 scrapes from playing with another dog. I proactively called the vet as one of the scabs was where the surgery would be bc I didn’t want to be wasteful of their time and mine. I clearly stated that she is scratching at them (bc this is typical behavior for a scab even in humans) and that I just wanted to double check and if necessary reschedule the surgery. I had no problem rescheduling until all the wounds were completely healed. It turned into something that it didn’t need to be and the individual on the phone seemed incapable of hearing that I was fine with rescheduling until healed (that is in the dogs best interest) but she was adamant that my dog needed to come in. I stated no, that wasn’t necessary at this time and that we could self treat with a cone and neosporin until healed. Again, she was adamant that the dog needed to come in before surgery. I stated I was not expecting surgery until they were healed and if they got worse, then I would get her in but in the mean time, I would call to reschedule. To be clear, I explained there was no pus or other signs of infection at this time and was not against scheduling her for a visit if they progressed but the inability to communicate effectively and follow thru on their own notes (which I have documented from past visits) sealed the deal. I would not recommend this vet clinic to anyone. We have already got her set up with doc at Akron Vet Clinic for a visit and I know he cares for his clients well. July 28 · Sara Bird
