Family Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in the St. Louis, Missouri area, particularly in the Sunset Hills and surrounding South County regions, finding a reliable and full-service animal hospital is a top priority. Family Pet Hospital (FPH), located conveniently on Watson Road, is a locally owned and family-run practice that has established itself as a cornerstone of quality, affordable, and comprehensive veterinary care services. This hospital is a modern and well-equipped facility that is committed to treating a wide range of companion animals—extending well beyond just cats and dogs to include various exotic pets.
The hospital’s core philosophy centers on providing individualized, consistent care with a familiar and friendly staff. This dedication is evident in the positive outcomes for complex procedures, such as the successful recovery of a dog named Gus from a Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) tear, a common yet challenging orthopedic injury. The team provided not only expert surgery but also exceptional post-operative support, including follow-up exams and X-rays at no charge to ensure the healing process was on track—a true testament to their patient-first approach.
Furthermore, FPH fills a critical niche in the St. Louis community by offering specialized care for unique pets. Finding a veterinarian for small mammals and exotics, like the rat named Rocket mentioned in client feedback, can be remarkably difficult. The hospital’s willingness and expertise in handling these less-common patients, including scheduling quick tumor removal surgery, demonstrates a profound commitment to the health and well-being of all animals, regardless of their species. This comprehensive scope of practice solidifies Family Pet Hospital as a trusted and invaluable resource for the diverse pet-owning population of Missouri.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Thankful for the amazing team at FPH!Had been taking our little terrier mix dog named Gus there since he was about 2. Mostly for regular checkups, vaccines, etc. The staff and doctors were always nice and easy to work with. Until recently Gus was relatively bullet proof and required minimal visits, but that all changed this past year after he turned 4. One day we were playing fetch and while chasing the ball he just went down and wouldn’t get up. I thought his knee popped out of place as it had before and would just go back in place but that wasn’t the case this time. He wouldn’t let me touch his leg and when he got up he wouldn’t use it and was hopping around on 3 legs. Needless to say I was concerned. Hoping it was just a sprain I made him rest for a few days but it didn’t get any better. I called the Vet and informed them what happened and they told me to bring him in asap. The next day they saw him and determined he had indeed torn his CCL. They assured me it was a common injury but would require surgery. I was a ball of anxiety at this point but agreed we should attempt to fix it. A week later I dropped him off and prayed everything would go well. I waited anxiously all day for the call to pick him up and when I did my fears subsided. They brought him out and he was seemingly happy but with a huge cast/bandage on his leg. I couldn’t help but smile ear to ear because they had taken the time to craft an aquatic scene on his cast using colored bandages. It was adorable. My worries continued however as the recovery process was difficult. A week later they took off the bandages to reveal the large incision for surgery. Another week later the sutures came out but the wound still looked pretty gnarly. Gus was still moping and limping around on 3 legs. A month after surgery he was still not using his leg so I called the vet again. They told me to bring him in and very kindly gave him an exam and X-ray at no charge. They said everything was looking good and healing well which made me feel a lot better. Sure enough and not long after that, Gus began using his leg more and more. We are now 3 months post surgery and beginning to play short games of fetch again! Gus is happy and I am extremely thankful to the staff and doctors at FPH that helped him recover from his injury. - I took my rat Rocket in today, finding a rat vet is HARD. I had to wait a couple months to get in, but it was well worth the wait:)From the first email, to the initial visit, ALL of the staff were EXTREMELY kind. They were very gentle with her, gave her lots of pets, and took all my concerns very seriously. They gave me honest answer and explained my options in a very easy way to understand.Price was amazing for all they do, she has surgery scheduled for only a week away for tumor removal and I am very confident they will take care of her! - Dr. Feagans is such a compassionate and kind human being, and it's very obvious that she cares for each and everyone of her patients. I appreciate that she is always willing to take the time to answer any questions I may have (even if I'm literally out the door of the exam room) and that she doesn't push me into needless testing or extras, but always gives her honest and professional opinions. She does her job, and even if my dogs don't always cooperate (they're safe to handle, they just might not appreciate being handled by other people), she gets the job done. The staff there has been very kind as well. I have never had any issues with them, and they have always been willing to help me with anything if they can. Family Pet Hospital is there to help and support you and your pet. People need to remember that veterinarians and their staff are just as human as we are. It takes zero effort to be kind. I will continue to take my dogs to Dr. Feagans for as long as she's still working. She's got a client for life. :) February 10 · Sarah Leander
- We love everything about Family Pet Hospital! My cats have seen all doctors there and they all are amazing. So incredibly kind, patient and caring. They have helped ease my fears after getting a tough diagnosis that wound up being terminal for one of my cats. Even though he had to be put down at an emergency clinic, the doctor still called me after hours to talk about everything. Recently, my kitten had some complications and they have been wonderful caring for him and answering my questions. All of the staff is so friendly and comforting! I’m so thankful we found such a great practice to care for my family. Thank you to everyone at Family Pet Hospital!! August 23 · Jennifer Erickson
- My daughter adopted a pet store bearded dragon , that came with health concerns. She took her to this hospital for everything and they were always so kind and made everything very clear for her. This special beardie ended up passing away suddenly, and they sent her a card with the most endearing handwritten message . I cannot thank them enough for their thoughtful care and personal touch January 27 · Dani Lambert Flowers
