Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center Reviews
Our dog suddenly fell ill (fungal infection in lungs). We came here and were immediately put in an exam room. The staff was kind and compassionate, explained our options and treated us kindly. Although we don’t have a positive outcome and have only a few days left with our boy, we are so grateful for the care and the promptness and info.

A week later, we received a heartfelt letter signed by all the employees, expressing their condolences. That personal touch meant so much to us.Losing a pet is never easy, but having such a compassionate and supportive team made all the difference. Thank you to everyone at FVSEC for treating our dog and us with such warmth and respect.
Mar 08, 2025 · alondra OrozcoFront staff very nice, clean office. My cattle dog may have been bitten by a snake. Only 1 puncture hole, but shoulder and leg swollen. While awaiting to check in, the 3 individuals ahead of me basically paid 1,000.00 each. When my dog was sedated and examined they brought me the figures to start treatment for my dog. With my discount of services the estimate is $3,708.22 max for the night. So Bring your Mastercard, Visa and American Express Card with you!I called back today after speaking with 2 veterinarian offices learning that the Antivenom is a 500 charge not 883.67, to see if they would discount to the others price and the office manager was around to tell me "No!"I'm glad there office is only about max profit and not your animals. Please look for someone who is a Veterinarian and actually cares about animals.
Jun 03, 2025 · Anthony San MiguelWill FOREVER regret taking my dog here. He likely had an internal bleed. But no matter the issue your pet has it seems everyone has a very similar experience. They present you with a 'Standard' authorization of tests that amount to ~$2,000 and then ask to authorize more and more, or even worse they just take your $2,000 and tell you hours later nothing can be done, but recommend you to try UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine (3 hours away) who will in turn ask for tens of thousands for surgery. In my case they took my money did a 3 minute exam consisting of a few questions to us, and a couple of pats and a quick gum check for the dog. Told me they would take him back for testing and called a few hours later telling me they did not know what was wrong with my dog. I'm not even joking, there are at least a DOZEN tests and they had him for hours and they had the gall to just casually say 'I don't know', but IF we wanted to authorize ~$3,000 MORE in testing they 'could' know. Of course when I kept asking how was it possible to not even have a theory they finally admitted no matter what he had there would be no way to cure him long term (they said it was likely either cancer or an internal bleed like we initially thought) so really they just didn't feel like it was relevant to tell me all possible diagnosis were terminal and instead wanted to spend more for a 'true' answer because $, but I'm sure they have some policy why they opt not to share medical opinions to their paying customers. They ended up wasting the last 7 hours of my sweet pup's life along with over $2,000. I wish I would have asked for an opinion/theory before we left him in their care, and I deeply regret not taking him home to spend a few more hours with him before taking him to be put down in the morning.I beg anyone thinking of taking their animal here to reconsider, thankfully there is at least 1 other 24 hour emergency vet in Fresno to pick instead. I make sure to tell everyone who will listen this story. This place really takes advantage of the 'emergency' in emergency vet.
May 09, 2025 · Rock FToday I picked up the ashes of my cat blink who I've had for 15 years. A few weeks ago, blink was struggling to breath and had fluid in his lungs and his back legs were no longer moving. We were told that he had saddle thrombus, and we were going to need to say our goodbyes. Overall, they were kind and gave us a private room with him and I got to hold him before his heart stopped beating. What I am really struggling to deal with is the lack of compassion of not asking who the owners are of blink. I had him since he was a kitten and it was just me and him and my boyfriend came into our lives 3 years after. When we went in, they only spoke with my boyfriend and completely disregarded me as an owner. After we left, we noticed his paperwork had my boyfriends name on all of it but not mine. We called the next day to let them know that anything that is given to us as far as ashes, certificates anything memorial wise should have us both listed. Reading a death certificate that says, "THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT BLINK, a pet belonging to (my name was not included at all) was privately cremated by Fresno pet cemetery." Not only am I grieving for my cat but to be completely disregarded is very painful. How does someone find peace with that and I felt like I was just completely removed from my cat's life. I have to say for the future when a party comes in from a dying animal, please make sure to comfort them both and not the one who is doing the talking. They really need to have some sensitivity training because what was supposed to be a nice memorial has made me feel so left out and not included in the process. If you come here and it comes down to having to put your pet down, MAKE IT KNOWN THAT THERE IS MORE THEN ONE OWNER! They obviously don't care because we called and told them, and it went into one ear and out the other. I don't want anyone to feel the pain that I'm feeling while looking at all the memorial stuff that I am not attached to. DO BETTER FRESNO VETERINARY SPECIALTY AND EMERGENCY CENTER!!
