This article will explore what makes Vetco a suitable option for routine pet health needs in our community, covering its location, the services typically offered, and what pet owners can expect from their experience. We'll examine both the positive and challenging aspects, providing a balanced perspective to help you make informed decisions for your cherished companions.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Keene, NH, is located at 55-63 Key Rd, Keene, NH 03431, USA. This address is typically associated with a Petco store, as Vetco clinics often operate within these retail locations. This positioning offers significant accessibility benefits for New Hampshire pet owners, especially those in and around the Keene area and Cheshire County.
The convenience of being located within a well-known retail store often means easy parking and a familiar environment. For pet parents, this can simplify the process of getting their animals vaccinated or microchipped during a regular shopping trip or a quick stop specifically for their pet’s health needs. The clinic’s schedule, often consisting of specific hours on certain days, is designed for efficiency, catering to busy individuals who need to get routine services done without lengthy appointments. This model enhances accessibility for a broad range of pet owners across southwestern New Hampshire, providing a readily available option for essential preventative care.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic primarily focuses on a streamlined set of preventative veterinary services, designed to be efficient and affordable. While they do not typically offer comprehensive full-service hospital care (like surgeries or extensive diagnostics), they are a go-to for essential routine needs. Their core offerings generally include:
- Dog Vaccinations: A range of crucial vaccinations for dogs, including Rabies, DA2PP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza), Leptospirosis, Lyme, and Bordetella (Kennel Cough). These are often available as individual vaccines or in convenient packages.
- Cat Vaccinations: Essential vaccinations for felines, such as Rabies, FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia), and Feline Leukemia (FeLV).
- Microchipping: Offering microchip implantation for permanent pet identification, significantly increasing the chances of reunification if a pet ever becomes lost.
- Preventative Medications: Prescriptions for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, often requiring a brief exam and sometimes testing (like heartworm tests) to ensure suitability.
- Heartworm and Tick-Borne Disease Testing: Essential blood tests to screen for heartworm disease and common tick-borne illnesses, crucial for pets on preventative medications or those with potential exposure.
- Fecal Testing: Diagnostic tests to check for intestinal parasites, which are common in pets and can pose health risks.
- Brief Wellness Checks: Often included with vaccination packages, these are quick examinations to ensure the pet is healthy enough to receive vaccinations. These are not as comprehensive as a full annual exam at a primary veterinary hospital.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Keene, NH, presents a unique set of features and highlights that make it an attractive option for certain pet care needs, alongside some aspects that potential clients should be aware of.
- Efficiency and Quick Service: A major highlight frequently praised by clients is the clinic's efficiency. One review states, "Easy, informative, gentle care of her, efficient, clear. Quick scheduling and quick service. All good!" This focus on speed and streamlined processes is ideal for pet owners with busy schedules or those who prefer a rapid in-and-out experience for routine vaccinations.
- Affordable and Low-Cost Services: Vetco is known for offering competitive pricing, making essential preventative care more accessible to a wider range of pet owners. This affordability is a significant draw, especially for routine vaccinations and parasite prevention.
- Accessibility as a Community Resource: Many clients view Vetco as an "Excellent community resource to supplement my regular vet visits for routine care/vax." This highlights its role in filling a specific niche – providing basic preventative services without replacing the comprehensive care offered by a primary veterinarian.
- Variety of Vet Teams: The clinic's model involves different veterinary teams rotating through locations. While one customer noted, "Different vet team each time but always nice and good quality care of my pup and me," this can mean variability in individual veterinarian's demeanor, as evidenced by another review concerning a specific vet.
- Focus on Preventative Care: The core strength lies in its dedication to vaccinations, microchipping, and basic parasite control, which are fundamental to keeping pets healthy and preventing the spread of diseases.
- Convenient Online Scheduling: The mention of "Quick scheduling" implies that the process of booking an appointment is user-friendly and efficient, contributing to a smooth experience.
However, it's important to address a concerning highlight raised by one customer:
- Variable Veterinarian Demeanor and Communication Issues: One client had a very negative experience with "Dr. Gary Hale," describing him as "absolutely the rudest vet I’ve ever come across." This included frustration over declining a dewormer for a pet that had recently had a fecal test, and a stern command to "can you not do that" while petting her dog during a heart rate check. The client felt pressured into unnecessary services and experienced a price discrepancy at checkout. This particular experience highlights that while teams may vary, individual interactions can significantly impact perception and trust.

For many pet owners across New Hampshire, particularly those in the Keene area, Vetco Vaccination Clinic presents a suitable and often highly beneficial option for specific routine veterinary care needs. Its primary suitability stems from its core model: providing accessible, efficient, and typically affordable vaccinations and basic preventative services. For busy individuals who need to ensure their pets are up-to-date on essential immunizations, the "quick scheduling and quick service" model is a significant advantage, allowing for essential care without requiring a lengthy, full-service veterinary visit. As a "community resource," it perfectly supplements comprehensive care provided by a primary veterinarian, ensuring that foundational health measures are easily attainable for many local households.
The affordability of Vetco's services is also a crucial factor, making preventative care more accessible to a broader demographic of pet owners in New Hampshire. In situations where a primary vet might have a long waitlist for routine vaccinations, Vetco offers a valuable alternative to ensure pets receive timely protection. The generally positive experiences shared by many clients, highlighting gentle care and clear information, underscore its effectiveness in providing these focused services.
However, it is equally important for local pet owners to be aware of the potential for variability in veterinarian demeanor, as indicated by the challenging experience with one particular doctor. This suggests that while the overall model is efficient and beneficial for routine needs, pet owners should feel empowered to advocate for their pets' specific requirements and comfort. Ultimately, for New Hampshire residents seeking a straightforward, cost-effective, and convenient way to handle their pet's vaccinations, microchipping, and basic parasite prevention, Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Keene serves as a valuable and accessible local option, perfectly suited for supplementing their ongoing pet health strategy.

May 18, 2024 · Liberata SinclairAbsolutely the rudest vet I’ve ever come across…. Dr. Gary Hale.I had asked to remove the dewormer from the package and he continued to try to give it to my dog. I said “oh I asked for her not to receive that” he said “why, how do you know she doesn’t need it” I politely said that in no means do I need to explain anything to him but she had gotten a fecal only 2 months prior and I didn’t want her getting things shoved down her throat for no reason. He was very frustrated that I stood my ground for my own dog.As I held her for the check up as one dog parent would do I was petting her and he said “can you not do that” very sternly as he was checking her heart rate. He could have asked politely but I think at this point he was going to continue to be rude.In the beginning the check in lady told me one price of $150 something and going to the counter to check out it ended up somehow being $185.I only went to them because her vet couldn’t get her in before her expirations but I will 100% NOT be going back. I suggest if you go here to speak up for your dog because they are willing to give them vaccines they don’t need for the money.
Sep 19, 2024 · Haylie WilliamsGo on the website and sign up for a 430 appointment. It says message when you get there and wait in the car. About 45 minutes after arriving (also 9 minutes early) I decided to take my dog in and see what was happening. They proceeded to tell me since I didn't come in at 430 that I would have to reschedule the appointment. I explained that we were there early and it tells you to wait in the car until you get notified to come in. She said doesn't matter you missed your time. Not to sure what I did wrong other than follow the directions that was giving.
