Oskaloosa Small Animal Veterinary Clinic Introduce
For pet owners in Oskaloosa and the surrounding communities in Mahaska County, the **Oskaloosa Small Animal Veterinary Clinic** serves as a dedicated local resource for essential companion animal health services. Operating as both an animal hospital and a veterinary clinic, the facility is equipped to provide comprehensive care for dogs and cats, focusing on **Primary Care Services**, advanced diagnostics like **Digital X-Rays**, and various surgical and therapeutic options.
The clinic is built upon a foundation of offering a wide array of necessary treatments and services under one roof, positioning itself as a convenient option for routine visits and managing chronic conditions. Services range from the foundational **Puppy Exam** to more advanced treatments such as **Laser Therapy** and **General Surgery**. The goal is to provide local Iowa families with accessible veterinary expertise in a professional and compassionate environment.
Oskaloosa Small Animal Veterinary Clinic aims to be a full-service provider for small animals, understanding the deep bond between Iowans and their pets. The staff is focused on assisting owners through all stages of a pet’s life, from initial vaccinations and spay/neuter procedures to managing senior health issues. Services include **General Medicine**, which covers the diagnosis and treatment of internal illnesses, and **Cat Hospital** services tailored specifically to the unique needs of feline patients.
However, potential clients should be aware of reported concerns regarding billing clarity and after-hours availability, which are crucial factors when selecting a long-term care provider. The clinic’s structure emphasizes scheduled appointments and in-house care, which is ideal for routine needs, but limits its scope for external or emergency hours coverage. Clients are strongly advised to clarify all aspects of pricing before procedures and confirm emergency protocols, particularly since the clinic is reported to be closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and may not provide an after-hours answering service.

**What is Worth Choosing Oskaloosa Small Animal Veterinary Clinic**
Choosing Oskaloosa Small Animal Veterinary Clinic is worth considering for Iowans seeking a convenient, local clinic that offers a **broad spectrum of small animal services** combined with **modern diagnostic and therapeutic tools**. The clinic is an excellent choice for routine needs, such as **Primary Care Services**, **Puppy Exams**, and the utilization of technology like **Digital X-Rays** and **Laser Therapy**, all within a single, locally based animal hospital.
However, potential clients must exercise **due diligence**, particularly concerning financial transparency and emergency protocols. If **after-hours emergency support** is a critical factor—as some reviews indicate that the clinic may not answer after hours or on weekends (Friday through Sunday)—clients should secure an alternative emergency contact, such as a specialty hospital in Des Moines, to avoid critical delays in care. For all surgical procedures, including **General Surgery**, it is imperative to request a detailed, line-by-line cost estimate and a thorough explanation of the procedure, including the type of sutures and post-operative care, to ensure clarity and satisfaction. Choosing this clinic is best done by prioritizing their strong in-house medical services for planned care while ensuring a clear emergency plan is in place elsewhere.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- The care we received was pretty good. I felt overcharged. I was given a sheet that told me pricing. They failed to inform me that I would have to pay $100 for shipping on a test they did. I was also double charged for a lab draw because the first one failed and they had to do a second? This is the first time I have ever experienced that. I have always been private pay and can’t afford to be ripped off. $520 is a long shot compared to the $300 originally discussed. - Ok for day to day. However, I took my dog in to be fixed. Her surgery went fine. They did change the pricing quoted and could not explain to me why. Just said "maybe it's because of medication being sent home." (That was quoted on the original bill.) So, that is NOT the case. I am the most disappointed, however, with the suturing of my dogs incision. They put only one running stitch in her incision that they did NOT get locked or tied properly. It actually unwrapped as I watched her lay down and stretch for the first time in front of me. (First time because I believe she was feeling better or just not so loopy from meds) She never licked it or even touched it. The proper suture should have been at least interrupted stitches or multiple layers. This is extreme inexperience in suturing or just laziness. DO NOT TAKE YOU PET HERE FOR ANY SURGERY UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET AN EMERGENCY BILL FROM DESMOINES BECAUSE THEY DON'T TAKE CALL AND ARE NOT OPEN Fri, SAT, OR Sunday. They will not answer after hours! So, their mistakes are someone else's problems. Yes, I have been in the medical field for over 30 yrs and suture people. Never thought of looking closer at my dogs incision until watching her finally stretch out. It's not good to see an incision open up and see your dog's insides so quickly and easily. Avoid this as it traumatized my step daughter and significant other. As they witnessed it at the same time, and dog is probably traumatized from their screams at witnessing this. - Over charged could drive less then an hour and save 350 for the same services. Talked to the owner about and he was nice at first then was cussing and telling me to come to his clinic and he will teach me a thing or 2 and it escalated it him wanting to fight either at the clinic or his house and proceeded to berate my intelligence.
