They recognize that pet owners often face difficult decisions, especially during a crisis, and they strive to provide solutions that are not only medically sound but also financially manageable. This commitment to their clients is powerfully demonstrated in a glowing customer review, where a young couple recounts their experience with their cat, Smelvin, who suffered a urinary blockage. After an expensive visit to an emergency vet, they were directed to Pet Hospital of Madison, which was able to provide the necessary, life-saving care at a cost that was "actually afford." This story is a testament to the hospital's mission to make quality veterinary care accessible without compromising on service.
The hospital's dedication to its patients goes beyond a single visit. The same client review highlights the continuous support and follow-up care that the family received, including calls with updates during Smelvin's weekend stay and follow-up calls two weeks after his release. This level of personalized attention ensures that families feel supported throughout the entire recovery process. This commitment to continuity of care and client communication is what builds trust and solidifies their reputation as a valued community partner.
Another client’s review speaks to the hospital's diagnostic prowess, recounting how the staff successfully solved a cat's sneezing issue in a single visit after other vets had failed to do so over two years and at great expense. This anecdote highlights the team's ability to not only treat common ailments but also to successfully tackle complex, long-standing conditions. The fact that the care was "extremely affordable" and the pet was "treated like family" shows that the Pet Hospital of Madison successfully combines advanced medical capabilities with a warm, personal approach. They are truly dedicated to providing a high-quality, full-service veterinary experience that puts the pet and the owner first.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Would highly advise the Pet Hospital of Madison for their amazing care and staff. We recently had our 2 year old orange tabby (Smelvin) have his first urinary blockage. We first went to Huntsville Veterinary Specialists and Emergency when we noticed he could not urinate. Obviously with an emergency vet, they let us know the cost would be extremely expensive (we appreciated the honesty as we're young and newly married adults). They got him stable and advised we take him to our usual vet in Madison (Catisfaction) to see if they could help us.Catisfaction is amazing with our two boys, but was not able to provide all the service Smelvin needed at their clinic. That's when they directed us to the Pet Hospital of Madison. These guys are AMAZING and got him in immediately for his over the weekend unblocking hospital stay. They called over the weekend with updates, explained everything over the phone, and they were able to save my baby at a cost I could actually afford (which is really important as many can imagine). Id do anything for my orange baby, but I also have to feed my family and pay rent like most young pet owners. They followed up with us 2 weeks after and really helped get us back on feet after this very sudden crisis. I feel like Smelvin and our family had an entire team behind him.We followed up with our usual vet, Dr. Belser, shortly after our follow up with the Pet Hospital of Madison, and they called us right after our Catisfaction appointment to see how he was doing. We appreciated that as well. We super appreciate them and their entire staff. Thanks to everyone that helped save our silly orange baby!
April 27 · Savannah HandelThis place is amazing hands-down the best vet I’ve ever had for my cats. I brought one of my cats in a couple of weeks ago for an issue with sneezing that’s been going on for over two years now. Every other vet I’ve brought her to has drained me of hundreds to thousands of dollars And nothing has come of it. Not only did the vet at The pet Hospital of Madison successfully solved my cats issue in one visit, but it was extremely affordable and they treated her like family. I can tell that every single person in that office truly cares about the pets that come in there and I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new vet.
July 24 · Princess AsukaI will never go back here. Our first visit was amazing, the tech and the doctor that helped us were wonderful, patient and kind people. They noticed my little dog, Bunny, was afraid of new people and anxious and they used treats and cheese on the wall, and patience to work with her. They were able to give her a shot, look at her teeth and examine her. They were able to do all of this knowing that she is an anxious dog, because we were talking about it the entire time.I did not know, this having been our first visit and the first time I have ever owned an anxious dog, that there should have been an "alert" placed on her file for future visits. No one mentioned this to me and I had no way of knowing this was part of the system.Second visit:Bunny was supposed to have a quick tech visit for a lepto follow up.The tech walked up to Bunny and saw that she was afraid and commented to me that she was afraid.I agreed, and asked if she would mind cutting her nails as well. She said she would, and I commented that Bunny would not allow it. I said I didn't think that Bunny would even allow me to do it, which is why I was asking for help. This tech later wrote the explanation of what happened, after my request to cut her nails and trying to warn her that she would not allow it, the tech states two different times that she "didn't think anything of it".This admitted blatant carelessness is exactly why my dog was treated poorly. If she had thought anything of what I said, we could have had a conversation and this could have been avoided. She couldn't even quote me properly because she wasn't listening. But she did not ask me any questions, so I trusted her. When she brought Bunny back to me, the poor little dog was choking, coughing and terrified. Her collar was broken by the threads that ripped. I could not loop it back through and fix it.It was not the most expensive, best collar ever, but it only would have broken with force. I'm doing leash training with Bunny as well and she still pulls, and that had not broken this collar. She didn't make a single mention of trying to use treats as you can see.But this tech managed to choke a 17lb dog to the point where her collar broke. And then either didn't see it clearly, or tried to lie about it being broken. She told me she was unable to finish cutting her nails. She asked if I would want to medicate her to calm her. I said no, and sat down to pet my dog. I was shocked and concerned about the state of my dog and that is all I was thinking of.I was not rude, I was direct. Her explanation was almost entirely concerned with my being accusatory and rude.Which I was not. I was questioning what happened, as anyone would, and I was only interested in getting my dog out of there as fast as possible.Honestly I think any sane person would have been accusatory and rude, but I was calm and quiet and wanting to leave.I'm actually shocked that this tech was so willing to write a story about how terrible she is at dealing with people and dogs. The doctor and the tech from our first visit were able to get a NEEDLE into Bunny and check her teeth and a couple of other things with the SAME EXACT HIGH ANXIETY DOG, without any of the hysterics that was clearly described by the tech herself from our second and final visit. If their system requires some kind of alert, then it should have already been there. She kept telling me there was no alert like it was something I knew about and did wrong. How can I ask for an alert if I've never heard of it in my life? The tech and the manager that cashed us out just continually blamed the doctor for not putting the alert on her file, and the dog for being anxious.Bunny is a sweet, curious, happy little dog who just happens to be afraid of new people and that is not her fault.I have no doubt that this office will respond trying to blame me or my dog, but I do not care.Neither of us did anything wrong. Not all of their techs are safe with dogs and the office will absolutely try to blame you for their own failings.
August 17 · Evelyn JohnstonIt’s been 1 year since we had to say goodbye to our beloved cat, Mia. Dr. Nunnelley did everything possible to keep her here longer. The professionalism, thoroughness, and compassion we were shown during our painful circumstances meant the world to us as clients. Highly recommend this clinic for your pet’s needs, from start to finish. Thank you, Dr. Nunnelley!
