Ridge to Rivers Animal Clinic: Kottke Janna DVM Introduce
For pet owners in Wisconsin, particularly in the Viroqua area, finding a veterinary clinic that offers a blend of conventional and alternative treatments is a significant benefit. Ridge to Rivers Animal Clinic, led by Dr. Janna Kottke DVM, is a unique and highly-regarded practice that specializes in integrative medicine. They believe in treating the "whole animal," combining Western medical and surgical services with Eastern alternative therapies like acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. This holistic approach ensures that your pet receives the most comprehensive and personalized care possible, addressing both physical symptoms and underlying health issues. This article will explore the unique philosophy and extensive services of Ridge to Rivers, highlighting why it stands out as an exceptional choice for your beloved pets in the region.
The core of Ridge to Rivers Animal Clinic's identity is its commitment to compassionate and thoughtful care. The clinic’s philosophy is to provide a low-stress environment for both pets and their owners, using gentle animal-handling techniques and a patient, understanding approach. This is clearly reflected in customer experiences. One client, who had a late-night emergency with their cat, was deeply moved by the care they received. They noted a "vastly different" experience compared to another clinic, stating that the team at Ridge to Rivers "really cared about what my cat and myself were going through" and "eased my mind" by considering all options, including avoiding further stress on the cat by not removing him from his home. This level of empathy and personalized attention is a key part of their practice and speaks volumes about their dedication.
While the clinic is celebrated for its compassionate approach, it's important to note that the emotional journey of pet ownership, particularly during end-of-life care, can be complex. One customer shared a heartbreaking experience regarding a clay paw print received after their 18-year-old cat was put to rest. While the clinic's intention was undoubtedly kind, the quality of the memento did not meet the owner's expectations. This specific instance highlights the importance of clear communication and asking detailed questions, especially during such a sensitive time. It serves as a learning experience for both clients and the clinic, reinforcing that every detail matters in providing the highest level of care and comfort, from the initial consultation to the final goodbyes.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had an emergency with my cat on Sunday night and had reached out to another emergency vet before my cousin recommended calling Ridge to Rivers. The experiences were vastly different. The first place I called did not ask questions about my poor suffering cat they just said to bring him in and began listing off charges. Very impersonal. Then I called here. She really cared about what my cat and myself were going through. Eased my mind and understood that stressing my cat out further by removing him from his home was a last resort. My cat has now fully recovered and is happy and healthy. I can not thank you enough. My cat is a very big part of my world and seeing him suffer was absolutely heart breaking.
June 24 · Theresa DevineI had an experience. I can't say if it was good or bad. Please use this as a learning experience for yourself.I had to put my fur baby to rest due to age and health. He was 18. All I asked is that I had his foot (paw) print. I have onefor all of the other animals that I have been blessed with with their trust to be a fur mama or Aunt or Sister. I am not saying this was a bad experience. I am just telling my experience. When I came to pick up the remains of my cat and his paw print. I recieved a chunk of clay with a terrible imprint of my cats paw. It's a great idea I guess. This is why Grammar matters. Ask questions. Make sure you're getting exactly what you want. Because once the pet is gone. There is not fixing this. There is now no Print of my babies paw.I have attached the IMPRINT of my cats paw. The pic I have of all my INK PRINTS of my loves. Also, his sister died 4 years prior and I have her prints to.It's been 3 days and I am still devastated. I couldn't even yell at the lady at the front desk because I knew it was nothing she could do to fix this. He's gone. And so is his foot print. 🥺😭
July 11 · Amanda SampleWe came to Ridge to Rivers after my fur baby became ill, and we learned at the most unfortunate time that our long-time vet was essentially retired. So stuck between a rock and a hard spot, they absolutely saved us.We learned of some long-term health conditions we were not aware of with our senior dog. Things are on the up and up. Our old girl is on lifelong meds.We then ended up in a similar situation with our senior cat. We got quick diagnoses and meds for our grumpy old man cat.We travel from nearly an hour away for kindness, fairness, and honest care. We will continue to bring our fur babies as long as we are able.
December 11 · Tiffany BeastonI love the very vibration to which every person contributes as they stand under this roof. Every need and concern was tended. As a side note, I heard a story where a friend called their emergency number, and that situation was also handled exceptionally:)
March 11 · Jill DlugiCannot recommend them enough! My dog had an emergency and they stayed after hours even though he wasn't a patient at that time. When we moved to the area it was a no-brainer to establish him there.
