The bond we share with our animals is special, and their health is a top priority. South Tyler Animal Clinic stands out as a premier destination for comprehensive and advanced veterinary care. This clinic is more than a place for check-ups; it's a facility equipped with modern technology and staffed by a dedicated team that is committed to delivering the highest level of compassionate and skilled veterinary medicine for your beloved pets.
A testament to the clinic’s exceptional capabilities is the story of Kiwi, a cattle dog who swallowed a spatula rubber end. Her owner, who lives in Dallas where options are abundant, specifically sought out Dr. Ramsey for his expertise in non-invasive endoscopic surgery—a technology often found only in expensive pet hospitals. Dr. Ramsey's commitment to his patients is highlighted by his willingness to come in on his day off to perform a time-critical procedure. His thoroughness, as seen on the video of the procedure, and his meticulous follow-up ensured a full recovery, with the pet back to her normal self. This level of dedication, even for a client who traveled from a different city, showcases the clinic's unwavering commitment to animal health and its reputation as a leader in specialized veterinary procedures.
The excellent service doesn't stop with the doctors. The entire team at South Tyler Animal Clinic is a vital part of the positive client experience. As one new client, a rescue owner with four "fur babes," noted, the team is "wonderful," "thoughtful," and "communicative." Having faced an unexpected hiatus with their previous vet, this owner found the transition to South Tyler Animal Clinic to be an "enjoyable experience" rather than a nightmare. The consistent follow-up calls after a procedure, as mentioned by Kiwi's owner, further reinforce the clinic's commitment to patient care and client peace of mind. This holistic approach, where a pet's medical needs are met with equal parts skill and genuine concern, is what makes this clinic a highly recommended choice.
Beyond its specialized services, South Tyler Animal Clinic offers a complete suite of veterinary care, from the beginning stages of a pet's life to their senior years. They understand the importance of preventative care and early detection, offering services that are designed to keep your pet healthy and happy for a long time. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr. Ramsey was recommended to me for noninvasive Endoscopic surgery. He is one of the few Veterinarians with this technology (outside of expensive pet hospitals). My Kiwi (cattle dog) swallowed the rubber end of a spatula. I wanted to do everything possible to Not have to open her up. Time was also critical due to possible damage and movement into the intestine. Not only did Dr Ramsey come in on his day off, but he was an expert in "object" removal. The procedure was quick. He went through the esophagus. I saw the video. He was incredibly thorough by checking for debris, and he went through a good part of the digestive track for damage. I hate to admit he pulled out some "toy stuffing" that Kiwi had injested. Bad mom.Regardless, my 3 year old pup is back to herself. The follow-up from the staff was so appreciated. They checked with me post surgery a number of times.I live in Dallas. Everything is available here, but the Tyler trip was well worth this life saving treatment. They will be taking care of my pups from now on.Tori, Kiwi and Asher
August 29 · Tori KayI've been with my vet for the last 5+ years, and had no plans on changing or looking elsewhere. Well, there was an unplanned hiatus leaving me and my four fur babes without a doc. They are all runts and rescues and need regular visits.Dr. Ramsey came highly recommended, and rightfully so. His entire team is wonderful. They are a very thoughtful and communicative bunch. They've made what could have been a nightmare, a very enjoyable experience. Beyond thankful!
July 23 · miss mooreDr Ramsey is smart, kind and caring. We are lucky to have found South Tyler Animal Clinic. We had never been there before, but after not getting answers from other vets, we showed up on his doorstep with a bizarre sickness that our dog contracted. Dr Ramsey did everything he could to help. We have great respect and are forever grateful for his care and attention to our dog Jagger
January 12 · Debbie Lowe (Deblowe)I was going to let my experience go but since the Clinic decided to send us a certified letter in the mail stating they will no longer see my dog (even though we didn’t plan to come back and they had to have known that as we collected our records)My 5 year old German Shepherd had a large bump that came and went, hair lost and grown back, scabbed then healed for almost 2 years. The first year we were in Austin and saw the vet many times, and sent emails with photos many times in between, Dr. Erlandson had those records. It was well recorded I believed it was a Mast Cell Tumor. We are extremely diligent in our pets health, having lost a dog of unknown reasons that same year this started we were even more diligent. When we moved back to Tyler this clinic was highly suggested. I brought her in February 2024, starting then at South Tyler Animal Clinic in her notes its noted I believed it was Mast Cell Tumor (on top of the year befores records from Austin) I asked to have her cut open to test or check for foreign objects, I was consistently told that wasn’t needed. Our dog was brought in multiple times, all of course an added expense and no resolve. End of January 2025 the mass was angrier than ever and not going away, they aspirated the mass and guess what it was Mast Cell Tumor! No apologies or any sign of sympathy for the fact it’s what I said all along.Luckily it came back the lowest grade but that’s not the point. There is still a possibility of it coming back or having spread without us knowing yet.Obviously our main concern is my dogs health and the fact Cancer was festering in her body for almost 2 years. The cost of repeated vet visits is also a major one. We then paid for an extremely expensive surgery, they of course upselled a teeth cleaning, we agreed, she calls and says they didn’t have time to complete that during surgery and the bill miraculously came out to be just about the same.I have not been rude to the staff or Vet, I have not threatened a bad review or reporting the negligence to Vet board, we even didn’t complain about the surgery bill. The only complaint I made was for one of the final checkup cost as she had been in for the same undiagnosed problem many times, and that’s when they finally diagnosed her, they took about $80 off that visit. The vet didn’t even call and checkup on my dog at any point after surgery which is unusual as in the past vets have called to checkup on minor visits.I do not want to speak ill of the clinic as a whole because others like it here, I found techs to be amazing with my skiddish dog, also I have no idea how much control each vet has. I would not suggest Dr. Megan Erlandson, maybe there is a reason she has one of the few other negative reviews at this Clinic regarding diagnosis and bed side manner, she is a younger vet who hopefully can learn from this.
March 28 · L RDr. Ramsey and staff of South Tyler Vet Clinic are the most compassionate, knowledgeable, and committed team. They always make us feel comfortable and that they truly love and care about our pets!
