Spay it Forward

545 Rugh St Suite 5000, Greensburg, PA 15601, USA

I had a wonderful experience with Spay it Forward! I had taken in a feral Mama and her three kittens and got them into my garage for the cold weather. I knew I had to get them fixed. I couldn’t get much help in Johnstown sadly so I drove to Greensburg with the mama… about six weeks later, I got two of the three babies and then on the third trip I was able to get the third kitten and they are all safely fixed and warm. The staff was communicative and they worked with me on scheduling since it was really hard trapping feral kittens. It was very clean and organized and none of my babies had any issues with their surgeries. I would certainly recommend them to anybody.! It was worth the drive! Thank you to everybody! For pet owners and animal rescuers across Pennsylvania, particularly in the Greensburg area and broader Westmoreland County, managing pet populations and ensuring the well-being of animals often comes down to accessible and affordable spay and neuter services. This is where organizations like **Spay it Forward** play a crucial role, providing specialized veterinary care focused on sterilization to help control overpopulation and improve the health of individual animals.

Spay it Forward in Greensburg is not a full-service veterinary hospital in the traditional sense, but rather a targeted clinic dedicated primarily to spaying and neutering. Services Offered

Spay it Forward specializes in providing essential spay and neuter surgeries. Their focus is specifically on these procedures, which are fundamental to preventing pet overpopulation. While they do not operate as a full-service veterinary hospital offering a broad spectrum of general medical care, their expertise lies in efficient and safe sterilization. Based on their specialization and the nature of spay/neuter clinics, their services include:

  • Spay (Ovariohysterectomy) for Female Animals: Surgical removal of the ovaries and uterus, preventing pregnancy and reducing the risk of certain health issues like mammary tumors and uterine infections.

  • Neuter (Orchiectomy) for Male Animals: Surgical removal of the testicles, preventing reproduction and often reducing behavioral problems like roaming and aggression, as well as preventing testicular cancer.

  • Pre-surgical Examinations: A health check before surgery to ensure the animal is a suitable candidate for the procedure.

  • Anesthesia and Monitoring: Safe administration of anesthesia and monitoring of vital signs during the surgical procedure to ensure the pet's well-being.

  • Post-operative Care Instructions: Clear guidance provided to owners on how to care for their pet during the recovery period at home, including information on wound care, activity restriction, and signs of potential complications.

  • Support for Feral/Community Cats: As highlighted by a customer review, they are highly accommodating and experienced in working with feral cats, which often requires specialized handling and scheduling due to the challenges of trapping and transporting these animals.

  • Microchipping (Likely Offered as an Add-on): Many spay/neuter clinics offer microchipping as an optional service during the sterilization procedure, providing a permanent form of identification for the animal.

  • Vaccinations (Likely Offered as an Add-on): For animals undergoing sterilization, clinics often provide or require certain vaccinations to ensure the health of all animals in the facility and to offer basic protection to the surgical patients.
