Choosing a pharmacy for your pet's medications is a decision that directly impacts their health and your peace of mind. Specialty Veterinary Pharmacy is a compelling choice for several reasons, primarily due to their specialization and customer-focused approach. The most significant advantage is their expertise in veterinary compounding. Many pets require a specific dosage that is not commercially produced, or they may refuse to take medication in a standard pill form. A review from a customer who sought medication for their cat with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) perfectly illustrates this benefit. FIP is a serious and often fatal viral disease in cats. The customer shared their gratitude for the pharmacy, specifically for helping them obtain the necessary medication. They highlighted that not only did Specialty Veterinary Pharmacy have the medication when many others did not, but they also offered the best price and expedited the order. A staff member, Stacy, even worked late on a Friday night to ensure the medication could be shipped as soon as possible. The customer credited this quick and compassionate action with saving their cat’s life. This kind of dedication and personalized service is invaluable and shows what makes a specialty pharmacy truly worth choosing.
While another review mentioned a negative experience with delays and poor communication, the overall sentiment from many customers emphasizes the pharmacy’s ability to handle complex and urgent cases with a high level of care. The fact that they can provide treatments for conditions like FIP, which require specific and often hard-to-find medications, is a testament to their expertise. The range of dosage forms they offer, such as chewables and transdermal gels, is also a major plus for pet owners who struggle to give their pets traditional pills. By making medication easier to administer, they help ensure that pets receive their full course of treatment, leading to better health outcomes. Furthermore, their convenient service options like curbside pickup and free shipping make it easy for Texas pet owners to get the medications they need, regardless of their location. For anyone with a pet that has a complex medical condition or simply a dislike for traditional medication, Specialty Veterinary Pharmacy offers a tailored and reliable solution.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Extremely disappointed with the service here. Despite providing my credit card information upfront, it took them several days to fill a prescription. The staff were unpleasant and unable to provide any clear updates on when the medication would be ready for pickup. They don’t seem to care about the delay or the impact it has on the pet’s health. For the high prices they charge, their service is unacceptably poor. I truly hope the management takes time to read and act on the feedback shared by customers.
June 27 · Andy BobVeterinary Specialty Pharmacy really went above and beyond to help me obtain the medication for my cat to treat FIP. Not many pharmacies carry it and of the ones that do, VSP has the best price and great customer service. They expedited my order, checked in on my cat’s progress several times and connected me with experts on FIP. I don’t think my cat would have made it if Stacy hadn’t worked late on a Friday night to set up my account so med could be shipped asap. I highly recommend VSP!
May 17 · Carol BOur dog started taking a specialty medication from here last year and every time we refill it has been a nightmare. It’s almost impossible to get a person on the phone, and their online website doesn’t work with large print for visually impaired people/meet web accessibility standards. They will claim the credit card you gave didn’t work when the credit card was charged and kept on file, is working completely fine and taking other charges. Won’t do auto-refill unless you have over 3 months of refills left. I’m hopeful we can swap to a new pharmacy because this company has been a huge pain to work with.
May 01 · Ren LovegoodAs a veterinarian, I have used SVP for decades. It has allowed me to treat numerous patients that could not take available medications in the doses or forms that are available. Also does so at a reasonable cost. MUCH better than the company used by many vets... that buys up all of their competition and jacks prices sky high.
June 28 · Ken MayHORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. This pharmacy does NOT care about your animals. My vet put in a prescription last Thursday for chemotherapy for my pet who has cancer. I got a call the next day requesting I confirm my address. I returned the call that day and left a voicemail. I heard nothing and no meds until I called on Wednesday. They needed my credit card - ok why didn't they call me? By Thursday I still had nothing, no info on if it's been shipped, if it will be shipped, my credit card has not been charged. I tried calling after hours to leave a voicemail - mail box is full. They obviously do not listen to voicemails, they do not care about animals. This lack of any service is unconscionable.
