SCAH keeps track of vaccination dates, make appt. Scheduling easy and their Staff are always positive and gracious professionals.
August 04 · David TomatoWe love coming to Sun City West Animal Hospital to see Dr. Johnson. We followed her when she left the previous practice she was a part of. Our dog, Lucy, is so happy to come and see her. Dr. Johnson has a wonderful disposition with animals and you can tell she loves her job! Our family highly recommends you take your pet to Sun City West Animal Hospital!!
August 12 · Karissa BoosI am devastated to share that my dog, Elsa, passed away less than 24 hours after surgery at this clinic—and I believe serious oversights in her care contributed directly to her death.Elsa was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor and placed on high-dose prednisone without any baseline lab work. No bloodwork was done prior to starting this powerful medication, despite well-known risks to the liver and other organs. When bloodwork was finally performed right before her surgery, it showed elevated liver enzymes—but I was never informed. I was not told what that meant, what the risks were, or how that might affect her ability to undergo anesthesia or recover from surgery. Had I known, I might have delayed the procedure, sought further evaluation, or made a different decision entirely.Even more concerning, I was never warned about mast cell degranulation, a well-documented and potentially fatal complication following MCT surgery. I was also not told what symptoms to watch for after surgery. When Elsa began vomiting, refusing food and water, and losing control of her bladder, I had no idea I was witnessing a medical emergency—because no one prepared me for the possibility.Elsa died the next day. This was not just a tragic outcome—it was a failure of informed consent, communication, and standard veterinary precautions. I was denied the chance to make fully informed decisions for my dog, and she paid the price. If you choose to bring your pet here, I strongly urge you to ask detailed questions, insist on lab work before any medications or procedures, and be proactive about researching risks—because you may not be given all the information you need to protect your pet.Elsa was more than a patient—she was family. She deserved better. Every animal does.
August 03 · Leigha FreitagAlexis took wonderful care of Rosie while she was under anesthesia for her dental! Her teeth look spotless! Dr. Johnson was so helpful with all of my questions and with helping me decide on further diagnostics for her coughing! 10/10 will be taking her here again!
