They prioritize safety during procedures with state-of-the-art anesthesia monitoring and use a gas anesthetic for better control and safety. The Cat Doctor stands out in the Washington veterinary landscape due to several key features that enhance the care and experience for both cats and their owners.
Cat-Only Clinic: The most significant feature is their singular focus on cats. This specialization creates a quiet, calm environment free from the stress of barking dogs or other animals, which can be highly beneficial for a typically sensitive species like the cat. The staff is also uniquely trained and passionate about feline care.
Comprehensive Anesthesia Monitoring: The clinic's use of advanced anesthesia monitoring equipment and high-quality gas anesthetic highlights their commitment to safety during surgical procedures, providing peace of mind for pet owners.
Preventive and Proactive Approach: Their emphasis on preventive health care, routine examinations, and comprehensive diagnostic testing helps to identify and address potential health problems early, leading to better long-term outcomes for your cat.

Choosing the right veterinary care for your cat is a monumental decision, especially in a state with so many options like Washington. The Cat Doctor in Federal Way is a truly exceptional choice for several reasons that go well beyond standard veterinary offerings.
The most compelling reason to choose this clinic is its complete and unwavering specialization in feline medicine. Cats are not small dogs; they have unique anatomical, physiological, and behavioral needs that a general practice may not be as equipped to handle. A cat-only environment eliminates the stressors of a mixed-animal clinic, such as the sounds and smells of dogs, which can make a significant difference in your cat's experience. This specialized focus means the vets and staff are true experts in feline health, quickly recognizing subtle signs of illness and providing the most up-to-date and effective treatments. Their understanding of feline behavior can make even a routine nail trim or exam less traumatic.
The range and quality of their services are another key factor. From comprehensive wellness exams and routine vaccinations to advanced surgical procedures with meticulous anesthesia monitoring, they provide a full spectrum of care under one roof. The availability of services like behavioral consultations and urgent care shows a commitment to your cat's overall well-being, not just their physical health. The ability to receive a thorough diagnosis from blood work or urinalysis and get prescriptions filled on-site is a huge convenience that simplifies the entire process.
Furthermore, the compassionate and professional nature of the staff, as highlighted in numerous customer reviews, is a major draw. Knowing that your pet is being cared for by a team that is not only skilled but also genuinely loving and gentle can provide immense peace of mind. The clinic’s policy of recommending appointments also means less waiting time for you and a more focused consultation for your cat. In a busy state like Washington, this efficiency is a valuable asset.
In short, if you live in the Washington area and want a veterinary practice that treats your cat with the respect, understanding, and expert care they deserve, The Cat Doctor is an excellent choice. Their specialized environment, comprehensive services, and dedicated team make them a premier partner in your cat’s lifelong health journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr Nettie is the best vet I have ever had for my cats. I now live three hours away, since my cat Romeo does well in the car, I seriously considered not changing vets. I am, but my new vet has some very large shoes to fill. All the staff are great at the Cat Doctor, I hope the practice continues to thrive.
April 28 · Eileen HurlbertThey were so generous when we were running late and truly seem to love and care for cats! They were gentle with Marty, my kitty, and so supportive of helping me as a first time cat owner. Marty wasn’t scared at all and was right back to being happy when we got home :) love the care and attention this faculty gives !
September 07 · Jasmine PaikI want to start by saying I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, I don’t like writing negative reviews, But the events that lead up to our kitty passing away, I feel more could’ve been done & I’m hoping some good will come out of this review for other kitties that come to this vet. I’m hoping the vets here slow down, take cases more seriously, error on the side of caution and guide people better because we are trusting their knowledge & experience to help us take care of our pets that are a part of our family. This is long but I need to get this out for my kitty Bella. Both of my kitties have gone to this place for many years. My kitty Bella was 10 years old. She had a mast cell tumor on her side & in May Bella had surgery and Dr Craig removed it. He said it was benign. Bella healed up and all was back to normal.Fast forward to October.. Bella started throwing up daily, still eating and not loosing weight so we thought maybe she was trying to get a hairball out and gave her Laxatone. Still throwing up and no hairballs we called the vet. They were able to see her the next day. That was on Wed. Dr Craig called me & said he saw Bella’s spleen was twice the size from an ultrasound & talked through things it could be. He said the next step would be a spleen aspiration. I agreed, I remember him saying we will take good care of her.My husband picked her up Wed night. Dr Craig had given her a prednisone injection & went over the ultrasound pictures, said he saw mast cells in the aspiration sample and sent out to confirm. He said he’d call us back once it came in to tell us more about it, That surgery to remove her spleen would help & would give her another year or more but felt it’s not a cure but would put things into remission & some cats lived for years after. Said to give her nausea medicine daily & we did.In the meantime Bella got worse every day. I called Friday to tell someone there about her & ask if the results came back. She said they came back the night before and Dr Craig would get back to me.My husband called again before they closed she said he may or may not call tonight could be Monday. So here we are at the weekend waiting.Dr Craig called on Saturday, he apologized he wasnt feeling well Friday (understandable just glad he called) he asked about Bella & I explained she’s worse she’s not eating dry food now she would eat churu mousse treat but nothing else, she looks like she feels really bad, her eyes half open, felt warm, she’s laying around hiding in closets not herself & she’s still swallowing alot. He said he’s surprised she’s not feeling better from the prednisone shot (that should’ve been a clue something wasn’t normal) said to increase the Nausea medicine & try an antacid. In the meantime he’d send an estimate for surgery and he could do surgery Tues.Sat night and Sun she stopped eating anything we tried everything. We watched to made sure she was drinking water, she looked like she couldn’t get comfortable anywhere. We checked on her numerous times. At 1 am on Monday I checked in on her. She seemed weak and wanted water which I gave her, she didn’t go to her water fountain like normal. Sunday at 6 am we found her passed away. We were devastated and shocked. I have not stopped crying daily since. I feel like we let her down and that Dr Craig should’ve said watch for certain things or signs, or you know she’s not sounding great and suggest to be cautious taking her to the vet ER or SOMETHING! I talked to Dr Craig Monday he said could’ve been internal bleeding or histamines (which can get worse from aspiration putting them into shock). So my cat suffered & we did nothing not knowing how bad it was & trusting the vets advice (that’s what I think about), I’m angry, sad, there’s a huge hole in our family. We can’t redo this she’s gone. I’m going through breast cancer myself, she was my emotional support kitty. My other cat keeps looking for her, this is devastating & feel like they should’ve taken this more serious knowing she she kept getting worse from the day they saw her on.
November 06 · Kelly MooreThis place is a Cats Haven and Cat Peaceful. I brought my fur baby in with a problem, it was my first time visiting The Cat Doctor, and they were great. Dr Sierra was patient and informative, I got a completely different diagnosis than the Generic Vet in Auburn three days before. Keegan already is responding and feeling better. Cats are not Dogs and need to be treated with respect, because Cats Rule the World! :) Thank you all. Mike
April 04 · Mike WellsDr Todd has been amazing with helping my senior kitty. He has recently become terrified of vets and they have been extremely understanding and accommodating. The drs have gone above and beyond going over his history and coming up with treatment options. I cannot express enough my gratidude towards their level of care.
