WARNING!!!!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! My cat, Gogo, had cancer and was seeing an oncologist. He needed imaging, and since Banfield was his primary care, I decided to follow up there. They found a spot in his imaging, and instead of biopsy-ing it, as I'd asked and as his oncologist instructed, Banfield said the tech went home instead. They told me I'd have to pay for another appointment so they could repeat the imaging and biopsy the spot. I made him another appointment. His usual Banfield vet was not there that day, and the people at the desk didn't seem to know why he was there but assured me they'd get the testing. I foolishly left him there as directed. I meticulously filled out all the paperwork and included his chemotherapy drugs and why he was there.Since Gogo had cancer, he wasn't supposed to get a rabies shot. Gogo had an approved exemption because he had cancer, was indoor only, and was incredibly low risk. I DID NOT CONSENT TO OR REQUEST A RABIES SHOT. When I came to pick Gogo up, they had given him the rabies shot. Even worse, the doctor was utterly dismissive and minimized what she had done. She said to me that 'we didn't know he if had cancer yet, that's why we're doing the biopsy.' Unfortunately, she realized SHE FAILED TO READ HIS CHART AND DIDN'T KNOW HE HAD CANCER AND WAS ACTIVELY ON CHEMO AT THE TIME OF THE APPOINTMENT. I took Gogo home and received a call from Banfield later to let me know they had messed up the biopsy and failed to obtain enough cells for it. They wanted me to bring Gogo back for the same imaging a THIRD time.Afterwards, Gogo developed anemia, which the specialist said could be a side effect or risk of the vaccine, but we'd never know for sure if it was the cause. He went downhill and died.It was dangerous, negligent, and against policy for the Banfield doctor to administer a vaccination without reviewing the patient's chart. If she felt it was indicated, she should have asked the financially and legally responsible party, me, first. I would have told her he has cancer and an exemption. If she didn't trust his chart or me about the validity of such an exemption, she should have consulted the specialist. What she should not have done was administer the shot without determining if it was appropriate and safe. Had she even just asked first, I would have told her he has cancer. Additionally, Banfield charged me for all of this. Although they verbally apologized once they realized they had made a mistake, they took no action to rectify the situation for Gogo or me. They weren't even willing to redo the imaging and biopsy they messed up twice, and I paid for twice, without charging me a third time. Banfield didn't make one mistake in this situation; they made mistake after mistake after mistake. If Banfield could make so many significant mistakes with a cat that had detailed records from multiple specialists, was on chemo at the time of this appointment, and had an owner that was available to take a call had they just bothered to ask, they could make glaringly obvious and dangerous mistakes with your pet too. Please, please reconsider before taking your pet to Banfield. I will never make that mistake again.Edit to Add: I spoke to the manager of this Banfield who apologized and promised to address the situation. I also spoke to Banfield Corporate who apologized and acknowledged the issues. No actual action beyond a discussion was taken to prevent this from occurring again to someone else or to help mitigate what they did to Gogo was taken to my knowledge. When I cancelled Gogo's wellness plan I still had to pay for the remainder of the year. - C P
