VCA Blue Cross Animal Hospital Reviews
This vet is so good my dog has been healthy enough to not need a visit in about a year. Before I switched to this vet he was going in at least once a month, never being properly diagnosed and constantly having issues. I wasted so much time and money. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful, they keep their appointments, the prices are reasonable and my Dr. (Lager) Is perfect. She reaches out directly and has the best attitude. She had the best solution to our nagging ear issues. Everyone seems to love my dog here so I feel bad that I haven't been back in a while!
Mar 22, 2025 · Bryan CarterIf I could zero stars, I would. On 04/06/25 I called blue cross animal hospital to describe the incident my cat experienced that afternoon. The person I spoke to the phone advised that I bring my cat (Daisy) in to have her paw looked at the next day on 04/07/25.The receptionist advised that I don’t feed Daisy dinner that evening or breakfast the following morning, in the event she may need to be sedated to have a thorough examination of her paw, and also if they need to wrap it to prevent infection while in the litter box. In the afternoon of 04/07/25 I arrived at the animal hospital with Daisy. The doctor that came into the room was Tomomi Lager, DVM. Almost immediately after coming into the room she kept referring to Daisy as a “he” which only bothered me because it made me think she thought she was caring for the wrong animal so to clarify she was in the correct room I said “you’re in here for Daisy right?” She answered, yes. The doctor kept asking if Daisy was still limping which also alarmed me because that was never stated by me as a symptom to any of the staff on the phone or in person. Dr. Lager seemed very timid when it came to thoroughly examining Daisy as she kept wanting a towel put over Daisy’s body in fear that she would scratch her. I am the one that had to hold Daisy so that she could look at her injured paw.Daisy was never sedated during the appointment and when I brought it up to her, Dr. Lager looked confused as to why I would bring it up. I proceeded to tell her I was told multiple times by the receptionist that Daisy could require sedation.Dr. Lager gave Daisy an injection of an antibiotic to prevent infection. She also prescribed a liquid medication called Metacam. I was told to give her the medication in the evening that night so that is what I did. The next day in the evening on 04/08/25 I was getting ready to give Daisy her second dose of medication with her dinner. Upon grabbing the box, I noticed for the first time that it had a dog image on the box and said for dog use only. Noticing this for the first time made me extremely worried and I called Blue Cross animal hospital immediately. A receptionist picked up the phone and I explained what I had noticed. She placed me on hold and asked if the box was pink or purple, I answered purple and placed me on hold again. Having her ask me what color the box was, alarmed me because it made me feel like they definitely gave me the wrong medication. The next person to pick up the phone was the doctor that I had seen the previous day. The whole conversation with her seemed as if she was trying to cover herself by giving me the wrong medication and tried gaslighting me since she had texted me earlier in the day to follow up with how Daisy was feeling and I had replied at the time that she was fine. At the time of this conversation, I was telling Dr. Lager that Daisy wasn’t acting like herself by hiding all day and night, when she never does. She proceeded to tell me that the medication is used for cats as well and that most cats respond well to the medication. After getting off the phone with Dr. Lager, I called a different vet near me to confirm that this can be used for cats and if what she said was the truth. A receptionist that answered at this location, confirmed with their Doctor and they said Dr. Lager shouldn’t have given me that medication for Daisy as it could cause kidney failure and advised me to stop giving it to her. This is a huge issue and I don’t know what could have happened if I continued this medication if I hadn’t noticed what was on the box. This is the worst experience I have ever had with Blue Cross animal hospital and I will never return.

Jul 10, 2025 · Corinne L. BHad a great experience here. Everyone was extremely kind and professional. Dr. Martinez was so patient and answered every single one of my dumb questions without ever making me feel silly.
Jun 03, 2025 · nshallerMy furry kids have been patients at Blue Cross for many years. I lost my two senior kitties after a lot of awesome care and old age. I just adopted two kittens and they’re having some belly issues. Dr. Balelo, the front desk staff, vet techs, and physicians are amazing. I have plenty of veterinarians close to me, but I choose to drive 26 miles each way because I have a healthcare partner. Thank you, Patty, for helping me today.
