- Perceived High Costs: Some customers express that VCA hospitals, in general, can be more expensive than independent, local practices.
- Emphasis on Extensive Testing: There have been occasional concerns about a tendency to recommend a broad range of tests, which can contribute to higher bills.
- Service Inconsistencies: While some individual experiences are overwhelmingly positive, the sheer size of a corporate network can sometimes lead to varying experiences.

VCA North Country Animal Hospital Reviews
My story started out with making a phone call to VCA first thing in the morning when they opened, breaking down emotionally about my lovable cat, Piper. I told her what's going on with my cat. The receptionist was very calm and so understanding with compassion. She had put me on hold for a quick min to talk to the tech to see if they can see her that day. Due to the symptoms that she was having, she was told by the tech to bring in Piper ASAP. I get there about an hour later (don't live close by) and as soon as we brought Piper in, the tech comes around the corner and approached my husband and I and asked if that was Piper. She takes her almost immediately and tells us that she is going to evaluate her and she will come get us when they were done evaluating her.(Thousand Islands Vet Hospital, Piper's main vet would have never have done that for us. As this had happened to her before and they were going to refuse her as a new patient because I got her from someone that rescues cats and she had no records even though she was an adult cat that has been spayed and declawed. They gave me such a hard time about not having any records on Piper)VCA NEVER gave me any issues with the now small record that I do have on her since I adopted my princess. The doc came out to tell us what's going on with her and planned out the next step for Piper. While we waited for X-ray results, we inquired how she was doing and I believe it was one of the techs, that reassured us that she is doing much better and she went above and beyond to let us go in the back to let us see her for a quick second. She was also so sweet and compassionate about us as owners being worried about Piper. The staff and everyone that we had contact with us was just so wonderful and understanding. Definitely would recommend them and I am going to stay with them. Thank you VCA for taking her in like you did and giving my pet more yrs to enjoy and love her.
Mar 16, 2025 · Katie LaclairSham of a vet. I took my dog there in September with extremely dry skin and red spots popping up. They didn’t do any kind of skin culture, and told me it was simply allergies. Not even a month later, he was COVERED in ring worm outbreaks.$500 later at a other vet, I have been battling ring worm now for 3.5 months. It’s still not gone. When researching, the dry skin and red spots were the sign of ring worm coming on.Don’t go here. They are a corporate vet and don’t care. All they had to do was take a skin culture, and my poor little guy could have avoided all of this. They did not. They just looked at it with the naked eye and gave me benedryl.Go to a local-owned vet. Anywhere but here.(Photos are from 2 weeks into treatment with a different vet)
Jan 04, 2025 · Jill KoskoskyWas told my dog needed to be seen as soon as possible, but that they didn't have time for us and then was abruptly hung up on. Later that night my dog unfortunately passed. Most of the people I know that have taken their pets here have also shared unfavorable reviews. It just seems as if the people here don't really care if your animal makes it or not, they just want more money in their pockets, truly a shame. I HIGHLY recommend going anywhere else if possible, it sucks knowing they're one of the few places we have up here and they're no help whatsoever.EDIT:There is no way to make it right, my dog was dying and you turned us away. I wish 15 years of unrest onto all of you.
Jun 06, 2025 · Seth SeoI talked with Kendra on the phone this morning to schedule an appointment for my bunny and she was an absolute gem. Super professional and very sweet. I highly recommend this place so far and really appreciate the level of care she had for Vinyl.
