May 27, 2025 · Israel PaganDon't judge me for i have been taking my Persian cat here once yr for well visit and to have a big nat that accumulates once a yr shaved off his back. Never had anything bad to say about this place until today with all their new staff. I say that because the past yrs the staff and animal doc aways said that my cat is a good boy and if I ever need help with his natty furr they were here to help. It's not easy to find a groomer that has time for new patients let alone a long hair cat. This new staff was rude from the front desk through all way in the back. They said I was neglecting my cat an they were assuming that he was natty for a really long time even after I had corrected them an said it only got outta control about a month an half ago. Was very obvious that the new staff had not much hands on experience with Persian cats. No biggie though. But don't judge so quickly. I knows most vetineraions don't have children of their own and they more less faver animals witch is completely okay. I'm a single father of two children that I have raised alone and as we all know about the cost of living flipping 3x. In the past too yrs makes this difficult for us parents. They did take care of the big nat on my cats back but they didn't want to really shave much off of him as they said that's a groomers job. The appointment was originally scheduled for the big nat from the beginning. Not a good place anymore. 😕 after all said above, I get an email from the va hospital with an estimated cost for my 8 yr old cat to have oral cleaning done. 2000.00. Now the main concern of the whole visit was to have his big turtle shell matt shaved off and medication for a urinary tract infection. So after pushing the subject of me neglecting my cat, then telling me u will only shave off least as possible of his knotted furr, still have another grooming bill to come. They wanna push on their 2000.00 opinion for his dental cleaning. They need to understand that if I end up without a home to live in, so will the cat. I love my cat very much, but some people halfto have limitations on their budget. Does not mean that they do not love or take care of there pet as much as they can. And yes, the lady at the front desk is grumpy.
Jun 17, 2025 · Kirk MeiskeyMy neighbor recommended VCA Smoketown a few yrs ago and we first saw Dr. Shellenberger who was great with my dog, Liam. We moved out of Lancaster and I never switched vets because I love the people there. When Liam had all kinds of GI issues recently, after 3 ER visits, Dr. O’Neill saw us for what was supposed to be a wellness visit. All I can say is that she was meant to be a veterinarian. I don’t know how she maintains such calm, patience and empathy. She spent 45 minutes on the floor with Liam and the second visit came out to answer my questions after his subcutaneous fluids were given. She saw him sitting at the door and said he probably needs to go out so I can walk outside with you guys. She also said she would like to know how he is doing the next day and eventhough she was not working to please contact her. Thank you is not enough to express how grateful I am for the care we’ve received at VCA. Liam is acting like his old guy (almost 12) self again:)
Mar 07, 2024 · Caroline WeisserWe took our dog Bailey here yesterday to have blood work done and get her updated booster! They were really great with Bailey (the veterinarian and his assistant) was amazing too! She is a very hyper puppy and she worked really well with her! I would definitely rate this veterinary office a 5 out of 5! We take our other dog here too and they are always able to fit us in rather quickly! Also, they are priced fair! I would recommend them for your furry friends😁
Aug 08, 2023 · Nikki WBanfield had been my dog Kyanos’ vet since he was a puppy. 12-1/2 years. When I tried to get him into Banfield after he stopped eating, we couldn’t get an appointment for a week. I called Smoketown Veterinary Hospital and they were able to see him the same day. They saw Kyanos one time. Just once. Unfortunately, the news was bad and we had to say goodbye to our boy. A few days after our visit, I received this card in the mail. I bawled when I opened it. I’m sure it’s something they do for every pet that passes, but compare their card to the text we received from Banfield asking for a “rating” after we closed his account. Smoketown VCA saw him one time and they expressed more love and compassion than his vet of 12 years. When we are ready for our next pup, they will be our vet for life.
