VCA West Mesa Animal Hospital Reviews
Bait and Switch - Small Mass Removal Price SkyrocketedInitially quoted around $$1,200 total for my dog's small mass removal (including anesthesia, x-rays, blood work, free hospital stay & meds). I explicitly declined dental work, stating mass removal was the priority. Received a cost sheet detailing both procedures. I highlighted the procedures I wanted done and according to the price sheet our total should have been about $1,200 but I was expecting to pay around $1,500 with taxes.During pre-op (x-rays/bloodwork), According to initial treatment plan the blood work should have been $813.16, they tried to overcharge but honored the original quote I had in writing.Today, for the small mass removal, they suddenly quoted about $$2,000 claiming the price increased because I opted out of the dental work and the Dr. stated that getting dental work gives us a "discount". This is a blatant bait and switch. They are penalizing me for declining an OPTIONAL service. I only should've paid the difference which should've been around $400-$500 including taxes. The dr. literally came in with another quote for today's surgery with a ton of add ons that weren't in the initial treatment plan and she said the lowest she could go was $1,500!! Which is ridiculous because according to the original treatment plan and price sheet; $1500 should've been our total for EVERYTHING including the surgery, meds, X-rays, and blood work! We only should've paid the difference which was about $400-$500!The initial quote clearly included anesthesia for the mass removal and hospital stay. This drastic price change is unacceptable and feels dishonest. I strongly advise caution when dealing with their pricing practices. I would not recommend this office due to lack of transparency!
Apr 15, 2025 · DeysiAs a cat person for decades, I've had more than my fair share of veterinary experiences. So far, my experience at VCA West Mesa Animal Hospital is the most remarkable. Super high marks for cleanliness, hospitality from front desk staff and techs. Not enough superlatives to describe the care from Dr. Anna Brown, who managed to be professional and loving toward my rescue cat, plus warmly gracious toward me and my spouse.I was comforted by the care my kitty received, especially because she was a mess! Sweet and purring, but stinky from diarrhea. We left with her cleaned up, vaccinated, and treatment options to consider. Extremely reasonable prices for extraordinary treatment and care. And yes, I did use the coupon!
Apr 07, 2024 · Meredith GouldMy dog had open wounds and rashes - doctor said they were caused by allergies so prescribed apoquel and said he’s need it for the rest of his life. Got a prescription emailed to me that was good for a year until February 2026 but when I tried to fill it at Costco instead of with the clinic, they said I would need another exam (first exam cost me $554) before they gave me more refills…even though they just wrote me a valid prescription for a year. I’m out of town on Monday until the end of the month so he’ll just go without it and we’ll see what happens but seems like they are just trying to get another $500.Edit: Almost immediately after posting this they called me saying there was a misunderstanding and the person who I was speaking with on the phone didn’t know what they were talking about. They said I was able to pick up a physical copy of the rx but changed the refill date from one year to 6 months.
Apr 28, 2025 · Victoria LopezMy 8 week old GSP puppyys cheek swelled up as large as a pingpong ball. My wife took her to VSA west mesa on coors near the highway crossing and they misdiagnosed it. Charged me 180. Said to drain and treat it would cost 900. VSA also wanted 70 bucks for a re diagnose consult when it did not get better. Then they would want the 900. So they would charge 1150 for something Rio bravo charged 350 for. Thank god .Glad I called Rio bravo. So I lost 180 at VSA. It was really a foxtail grass embedded in the inside of her cheek..bravo for Rio bravo. Bravo found the prob quickly . Is the vet at VSA west mesa a PhD like they claim. 🤔.
May 03, 2025 · Mike AllenThe staff is great except one doctor. Dr. Voss and Dr. Hernandez are awesome. If they offer you Dr. Kennedy run for your animal's life. She told me my service animal was a emotional support at best and I didn't know what I was talking about. Also said berated me over my choice of joint care for my service animal. Again the rest of Veterinarians and the staff are awesome.
