While specific parking information isn't always detailed, being part of a larger shopping center typically implies ample parking availability. The clinic's setup as a station within the store, rather than a standalone full-service hospital, contributes to its walk-in friendly nature, although checking schedules for specific clinic hours is always recommended.Vetco Vaccination Clinic specializes in preventative veterinary care, focusing on the most common and critical health needs for dogs and cats. Their services are designed to be straightforward and accessible, without the need for a full veterinary exam fee often associated with traditional clinics.
- Vaccinations: Vetco offers a comprehensive range of dog and cat vaccinations to protect against prevalent diseases. This includes core vaccines like Rabies, Distemper (DHPP for dogs, FVRCP for cats), and other important non-core vaccines such as Bordetella and Leptospirosis for dogs, and Feline Leukemia for cats. They also provide multi-year options for certain vaccines where applicable, following state and county guidelines.
- Microchipping: To provide peace of mind and greatly increase the chances of a lost pet being reunited with their owner, microchipping services are available. This quick and simple procedure implants a tiny chip that can be scanned to retrieve owner contact information.
- Heartworm Prevention and Testing: Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition. Vetco offers heartworm testing and, for pets with a negative test result, provides access to heartworm prevention medications. It is important to note that a negative test at the clinic is required for the purchase of heartworm medication.
- Flea, Tick & Parasite Prevention: While not explicitly listed as a service, the general Vetco Clinics website mentions offering flea, tick & heartworm prevention, and also provides access to various prescription pest solutions. It is advisable to inquire about specific availability at this location.
- Fecal Testing: While not a primary service focus, some preventative packages may include or recommend fecal tests to screen for intestinal parasites, especially if symptoms are present or if a pet is new to the home.
It is important for pet owners to understand that Vetco Vaccination Clinic primarily offers preventative services and is not equipped to handle sick pets, spay/neuter surgeries, or emergency care. For more complex medical issues, a full-service veterinary hospital would be necessary.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic offers several features that appeal to pet owners seeking convenient and affordable preventative care:
- Low-Cost and Transparent Pricing: A key advantage of Vetco is its focus on affordable services with transparent pricing. They generally do not charge exam fees, making essential preventative care more accessible for many families.
- Convenient Location within Petco: Being situated inside a Petco store allows for combined errands, letting pet owners pick up supplies while also getting their pets' vaccinations.
- Focus on Preventative Care: The clinic's specialization in vaccinations and preventative measures means a streamlined process for these specific needs.
- Walk-in Availability (Check Schedule): Many Vetco clinics operate on a walk-in basis, which can be highly convenient for busy pet owners, though checking the specific schedule for the San Jose location is always recommended.
- Digital Records: Pet owners receive an email receipt after their clinic visit, which includes their pet's medical records in PDF format, and these records are also available for download from their website.
- Prescription Availability: For certain medications like heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives, prescriptions can be obtained and sometimes filled directly at the clinic after a required negative test or examination of the pet.

For pet owners in San Jose, California, Vetco Vaccination Clinic at El Paseo de Saratoga offers a specific and valuable service. While it is important to manage expectations and understand that Vetco is not a full-service veterinary hospital, its model excels in providing essential, preventative care in a convenient and often more affordable manner. For routine vaccinations, microchipping, and parasite prevention, this clinic can be a highly suitable option for locals.
The clinic's presence within a Petco store, coupled with its focus on walk-in availability for many services, caters to the busy schedules of Bay Area residents. The transparent, low-cost pricing model, which often foregoes traditional exam fees, makes it an attractive choice for those looking to manage their pet's basic health needs without incurring the higher costs associated with comprehensive veterinary visits. For new pet owners, or those needing only routine boosters, this accessibility can be a significant advantage.
However, it is crucial for pet owners to recognize that this focused service means that pets requiring extensive examinations, diagnostics for illnesses, surgeries, or emergency care will need to be seen at a full-service veterinary facility. The clinic's operational model, as indicated by some customer feedback, might involve a more fast-paced environment and less personalized handling for pets with anxiety or special needs. Therefore, while Vetco Vaccination Clinic is an excellent resource for its specialized preventative services, locals should assess their pet's individual needs and temperament to ensure the best fit. For a quick, affordable, and accessible way to keep up with vaccinations and basic preventative health, Vetco remains a practical solution for many in the San Jose community.

Vetco Vaccination Clinic Reviews
Horrible Service! Don’t trust them with your pets!If you need to do vaccination for your cat, DONT GO THERE!! They don’t know how to handle cats!! They tried to sent me to different clinic, because my cat was scared and hissing at them. Of course he will be if you put his head aggressively down and try to grab him! I offered them to help to handle my cat and take him out, but they refused by saying it’s not allowed and he will scratch me even if i know my sweet 11 pounds British cat! Apparently they don’t do full service, they just have little table in the Petco Store! Ridiculous! They refused to give him vaccinations and Jeniffer called him “very aggressive” when apparently she was the one who was aggressive and rude! She is very mean and looked very annoyed! She was very unprofessional and she should take classes how to handle pets properly! She definitely missed it or she just hates cats! Don’t trust her with your pets!Look at my cat, does he look aggressive? He was very traumatised after this visit!
Jul 02, 2025 · Sasha KnotThe vet nor the assistant introduced themselves. The person administering the vaccinations or the assistant was not cautious about how to handle my dog. We ended up putting a muzzle on him because they were scared he was going to bite. He was just moving a lot. The vet assistant also got behind my dog without even introducing himself to him. The Bordetella vaccination wasn’t fully administered to my dog, it was like half empty. Then during the process I got a scratch mark from my dog moving since I was the only one holding him down and they didn’t offer a bandaid or wipes to clean myself. It was very unprofessional so I will not be going back.
