- Veterinary Allergy Management
We will work with you to develop a tailored treatment plan for your pet based on lifestyle, health, and preferences. Using our expertise, advanced tools, and years of training, we help identify the root cause of your pet’s allergies.
- Veterinary Allergy Testing and Immunotherapy
At Veterinary Skin & Ear, we offer intradermal allergy skin testing, which measures skin inflammatory reactions to the common environmental allergens, as well as serum IgE levels, which measures the amount of immunoglobulin present versus an allergen in your pet’s system.
- Veterinary Autoimmune Skin Disease Diagnosis and Management
Most autoimmune diseases require lifelong therapy; finding the safest treatment, while minimizing side effects, is essential to maintaining a good quality of life for the patient affected by these diseases.
- Veterinary Bacterial Infection Management
There are a rising number of resistant strains of bacteria, and veterinary dermatologists are uniquely qualified to treat these infections. We take the time to examine samples using a high-powered microscope and, when needed, also submit swab or deep tissue samples to specialized laboratories.
- Veterinary Biopsy
Many skin diseases require a tissue sample (biopsy) to be examined by a dermatopathologist. We work closely with dermatopathologists to arrive at a diagnosis. Some skin biopsies can be taken with local anesthetic alone; others may require sedation or anesthesia.
- Veterinary Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a process of rapidly freezing masses or other unwanted skin lesions with liquid nitrogen. It is ideal for patients with masses or viral growths on their skin, mouth, eyelids, or ears. Cryosurgical treatment of masses can often be performed with local pain blockers.

- Veterinary Dermatology & Specialty Care
We provide diagnosis and treatment for allergy; immune-mediated diseases; ear diseases; bacterial skin infections; hair loss disorders; dermatophyte; fungal infections; yeast infections; nail diseases; viral-induced skin lesion (papilloma, herpes); hormonal diseases affecting the skin, and more.
- Veterinary Fungal Infection Management
There are many types of fungal infections that can affect our pets. The most common types are superficial fungal infections, such as yeast overgrowth or ringworm (Microsporum and Trichophyton). These infections are treatable with proper medication and topical therapies.
- Veterinary Laser Surgery
We offer carbon dioxide (CO2) surgical laser, which may be used to excise or ablate sun-induced actinic dermatitis, sun-induced tumors (hemangiomas, hemangiosarcoma, squamous cell carcinomas), sebaceous growths, viral papillomas, viral plaques, feline Bowenoid in situ carcinoma, and more.
- Veterinary Parasitic Disease Management
Our advanced training and experience lead to the early detection of external parasites on the skin. In some cases, parasites are contagious to other pets or people. Knowing where and how to take a sample can make the difference between finding or not finding these microscopic parasites.
- Veterinary Recurrent Ear Infection Management
We diagnose and manage chronic and recurrent ear diseases. Recurrent otitis can cause a tremendous amount of discomfort for our veterinary patients. Early and aggressive medical management of recurrent otitis can help to avoid the need for surgical intervention later in life.
- Veterinary Trichography (Hair Evaluation)
The plucking of hair from the skin and examining the hair under light microscopy is referred to as trichography. Trichography is a useful diagnostic aid to evaluate hair shaft morphology and can be helpful in the diagnosis of some genetic alopecic, hormonal, parasitic, fungal, and other diseases.
- Veterinary Video Otoscopy
Video otoscopy is a unique tool of the veterinary dermatologist and otologist. This is not only a skill that must be learned but an art form that must be practiced over multiple years of training. Video otoscopy allows enhanced imaging and deep cleaning of the affected ears by using a small camera.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr Lancilotti(sorry if I spelled that wrong), was a complete pleasure to meet, and we received so much information to help us relax and get the answers we were looking for. She took the time to examine katana and explain her steps and game plan for her treatment. We are so thankful for the compassionate and supportive care we received from all the techs and assistants there. But above all we appreciated the time the techs and the Dr took to explain everything that was happening and what they would be doing during our appointment. That calmed our nerves so much.
August 03 · Kathy CrandallDr. Richman is truly the best veterinarian I’ve ever encountered—possibly the best in the world when it comes to ear disease in pets. I brought my dog, Winnie, to several primary vets for a terrible, chronic ear issue. She had blood and pus coming from her ear, and despite multiple rounds of medications, nothing worked. I was terrified. Then we met Dr. Richman. He immediately suspected something deeper was going on—and he was right. He discovered a tumor in her ear, explained everything clearly, and reassured me that it could be handled. He removed the tumor completely, and thankfully, it turned out to be benign. Now Winnie is back to her normal, happy self.If your dog has any kind of ear problem, go to Dr. Richman. He is knowledgeable, so thorough, and truly at the top of his field. I recommend him without hesitation.
April 17 · Chris CarsonThe staff have been so kind and caring with our pup Lulu. Dr. Boyd is gentle and warm when taking samples and blood from Lulu, and she gives lots of details when explaining results and treatment. The front desk and aides are very friendly, knowledgeable and simply wonderful. I love that we never have to wait and appt always end sooner than expected. My only knock is the cost for services. Everything is very expensive, but they are no more than any other animal specialist.
May 29 · Jenni BellIf I could give Animal Skin and Ear in Los Angeles more than 5 stars, I would! After months of frustration and heartbreak at another clinic, this place completely turned things around for my Doberman, Max.Originally, Max was scheduled for an appointment two weeks out, but knowing how severe his skin condition was, I emailed photos hoping for help. To my surprise, the office called me the very next morning and got Max in that same day. The compassion and urgency they showed right off the bat was incredible — a complete night and day difference from what we were used to.What had dragged on for MONTHS elsewhere was properly diagnosed and treated here in just one visit. I knew Max’s skin issue wasn’t typical, but the team at Animal Skin and Ear took all the necessary steps — no guesswork, no band-aid solutions, just real care and expertise. Not even a week later, I was seeing real improvements — the kind I had been begging to see for months before. And to top it off, the doctor personally called me two days after Max’s appointment to check in on how he was doing. That kind of personal follow-up is rare and meant so much to us.Yes, the care here is a little pricey — but it’s absolutely worth it. Max’s skin issues were causing him so much discomfort and even depression at times, but now he’s looking better and finally feeling like himself again.I’ll be posting before and after photos soon to show just how much of a difference they made. If you’re considering Animal Skin and Ear — don’t hesitate. They are truly amazing, and your pet deserves the level of care they provide.
June 03 · Ambyr FreestoneDr Richman at Veterinary Skin & Ear is the best of the best !! I was told by another veterinarian that my dog Holly had a mass in her ear canal and would need a surgery that would cost $16,000 and they would need to remove her entire eardrum resulting in her being deaf in that ear .They also told me she would need to stay overnight at their office for 2 nights.I decided to get a second opinion by Dr.Richman .I brought her in for a consultation and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.Holly ended up having a minor procedure to remove the mass. Not only did she not have to have her ear canal removed her hearing was not affected.I picked her up a few hours later and by the next day she was running around like her normal self .I highly recommend Veterinary skin & ear .Very reasonable and professional.
