I've been bringing my dog to Banfield for her regular checkups with Dr. Gregg, but unfortunately, my recent experience has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing — and frankly, unacceptable for a veterinary practice.Back in March during her regular checkup, I asked Dr. Gregg to examine a bump that had appeared near one of her nipples. He recommended a biopsy and said he would follow up with a quote. I never received that quote. Fast forward to May, the bump began growing rapidly, so I scheduled an appointment for June 4 and informed Banfield that I wanted to move forward with a biopsy and possible removal of what had become a mammary tumor.Shortly after scheduling the appointment, the tumor began to bleed and smell — clear signs of infection. I immediately called Banfield to request an earlier appointment, as this was now urgent. The lady I spoke with emailed Dr. Gregg during our call, but he immediately declined to see her sooner. I then asked if my dog could be prescribed antibiotics or pain medication in the meantime to manage her discomfort. I was told that nothing could be done unless the doctor prescribed them, and again, I was told I’d need to wait for a response. No one asked for photos of the tumor or showed any real concern about my dog's worsening condition. I had to do all of my own research at home to try to care for her as best as I could while waiting for the appointment. When the appointment finally arrived, I dropped her off for both the biopsy/removal and her regular dental cleaning. Dr. Gregg called me 30 minutes later to say he wouldn't be able to remove the tumor due to its condition. This was infuriating, as I had called and explained the situation WEEKS prior. If anyone had asked for a photo or more details ahead of time, this could have been avoided. This was also the only day I had available for the rest of the month — and it ended up being a complete waste of time as this was supposed to be the day her tumor would be removed so she didn't have to suffer anymore.I then requested that at least a biopsy be done, and Dr. Gregg said he wouldn’t recommend it due to healing concerns, and instead reiterated that the whole tumor should be removed — and I'm thinking to myself "Well duh, that's what this whole appointment was for"! He then referred me to two other clinics, and told me I needed to get her tumor removed as soon as possible - clearly acknowledging the urgency — something I had been stressing from the start! When I returned to pick up my dog about 6 hours later, I wasn’t even spoken to by Dr. Gregg. Another lady briefly updated me on her dental cleaning, which at this point was the LEAST of my concerns. I had to ask YET AGAIN for antibiotics and pain medication, which still hadn’t been offered. To make matters worse, when I got home, I examined her tumor — which was bleeding and infected — hadn’t even been cleaned! It was still covered in blood and pus. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt like my dog’s health was brushed off at Banfield. Once her wellness plan is finished (which is a scam in itself), I’ll be moving to a clinic that actually prioritizes the well-being of its patients over profit. My experience with Dr. Gregg and the staff at this Banfield location was extremely disheartening and showed a complete lack of urgency, care, and communication. Please think twice before trusting Banfield with your pet’s care. - Ivey Broughton
